For anyone interested: Both Ollerup and Gerlev are so called højskoler - "highschools" that you can go to for multiple months (after you finished actualy school) and just train in a boarding school like setting.

@@levihalperin7649 in that sense they are neither, its a type of school lots of people go to for "leap years" to spend time honing specific skills or just focusing on self-development! I went to Gerlev and it was fantastic :)

I'm so happy for your complex viewpoint of the aesthetic aspect that is exceeding the plain utilitarian "build something so they can play" attitude. Was also stoked how good the BGI one is, despite seeing some people's clips from there this was for me the first time to see it as a whole and it's just so sick (I have a thing for the brutalist architecture as well haha). One small gripe though. You mentioned In Motion Academy in Prague (which I was hoping it gets on the list and it did!), but actually showed pictures and footage of two different gyms. The one in 11.32 is in Brno and the other one in 11.48 is the actual Prague one. So just had to put this clear as Brno is the city I live in 😁 Cheers for quality content, excited to see more! (as always)

I have studied at Gerlev, and it is amazing! Every summer they also host an international event called International Gathering (IG), where a bunch of parkour practitioners come from all over the world, and live there for a week. All day is spent on training and eating, and it is absolutely incredible. They hire great athletes from different countries as coaches as well, such as Williams Belle, Antonio Calefato (Shino), and Nicolas Vanhole (Nico). I would highly suggest any parkour practitioner to look it up, and join if you can. (I don't know if there are any spots left for this year, and corona might affect your travel plans)

Parkour Athlete from Australia here. The sad thing is that one of those AAPES gyms you featured (the one with the classic AAPES structure) had to close down due to covid. It was my favourite gym and it was very sad. Fortunately there is still two AAPES gyms left, one in Sydney and one on the Gold Coast.

Ollerup is like a paradise on Earth ✨ I studied there for a year with other parkour and flip athletes and what Jimmy described the day-to-day life to be is very accurate! It's especially remarkable during the warmer months when you can go outside all the time, and when a lot of stuff is happening. It gets pretty chill (in all senses of the word) during winter but it's still really enjoyable to live and train there along with a couple hundred other people who have the same or similar interests in gymnastics and self-improvement.

Hey Jimmy. Awesome vid as usual. For your AAPES (Australia) piece there is a mix of footage from AAPES 2 in Sydney and AAPES 3 at the Gold Coast in Queensland. Sadly AAPES 2 is now closed but AAPES 1 near Sydney Airport and AAPES 3 at the Gold Coast are still going strong with awesome crews of instructors/ athletes (the most important part of any training location!)

@JimmyTheGiant Gerlev is actually the same kind of School as Ollerup. And the Gerlev parkour park is the first structure build for parkour specificially, ever. It was designes and build by Mikkel Ruggaard and Streetmovement back in 2007. So cool to see you featuring the danish comunity!

And please make sure you don't overwork yourself :) I used to do parkour every single day, loved it, it was my life, but now due to reckless training I have a permanent knee injury and I can't really do parkour anymore at all. It's a absolutely wonderful sport, can highly recommend it and don't push your body too much! ;)

Favorite NorCal gym is sessions gym in San Jose, but favorite SoCal gym is apex school of movement in San Diego. Ca has a whole bunch of gyms now and I still remember when tempest opened their first gym. Very exciting!

When I first started I couldn't imagine that Parkour gyms or parks would be a thing and its the coolest thing to me that they're becoming more and more common. I've always wanted to go to Tempest it looks so amazing and I love how colorful and artfully themed they are. Theres a new park a ways away from where I live that I haven't got the chance to see yet but it looks very cool, at Cordata park I think it is in Bellingham, WA, USA. It has a hexagonal design, by Colin MacDonald from Parkour Visions. PKV used to have a cool gym too, it didn't have a stunning design like these do but it was cool because everything was modular, and the bigger pieces would be rearranged every so often, so there could be different challenges all the time and it wouldn't get boring. That one you said you haven't heard of before I had no clue where it was but I remember seeing a clip in a video of someone double step vaulting (same side) through those two windows in the middle of it and I thought that was so sick.
