this is the second Joe Baressi gear video i've seen, and the second Nigel Tufnel/Spinal Tap reference: "the push over the cliff". i'm starting to fall in love with this guy.

I love this guy. First saw him in sound city. He is so old school. Cool dude.

Man I absolutely love the modulation of reverb, and then throw on a little ping pong delay on a stereo track for those ambient, space sounds

I once got rid of all of my effects pedals, and got as minimalist as I could with my tone - but I always missed my Earthquaker Devices pedals. One of these days, I'll buy them back.

PLEASE make more of these! So great.

Insightful stuff, some great ideas using pedals on other tracks, we got the tracks why not use them & get some color, unique sounds, that other's marvel at. Thanks Joe & Dave.

+1 for the Afterneath - I also can recommend the new "Transmisser" from Earthquaker Devices; very versatile, IMO - from gentle via space/scifi to evil/scary atmo, not to mention what all may happen when actually using the knobs! :D Thanks for the video. ~ Michael @Frau Kapitän

Love this video! It would be awesome to see a video where you put them on vocals during a mix maybe

I LOVE my Swollen Pickle (phrasing) on my pedalboard in my bass rig. It's one of the best fuzz boxes ever made if you know how to use it.

What VST is that? Tried looking for an Echopuss VST, no luck. Is that what you were talking about Dave?
@noisesoundtonevibe8 жыл бұрын
GSI WatKat I suppose. They were talking about Watkins CopyCat delays, and the WatKat is a free VST emulation of those.

I have a noise gate and tube screamer for my guitar, and no other pedals because I work primarily in the box aside from my guitar preamp. I have not used any other other pedals in sooo long that I have lost all touch with the sound character of them. What do you think about using physical pedals for fx versus using my DAW's effects and third party effects exclusively? Is it primarily a matter of taste or is there a definitely sonic line that makes the use of physical pedals a clearly superior choice? I mean this as in MY paradigm of "tube guitar amps are superior in every way to solid state guitar amps."
@GabrielMaga8 жыл бұрын
I think using physical effects will give you a touch of uniqueness because whatever you record from them will happen only once and won't sound like any preset from vst's that you usually hear on generic music used on commercials and such.

Talking about pedals and seeing them is neat, but this would have been much more informative if we could hear a few seconds of each in action.
