Great entertainment value! The debates were not only animated but actually well thought out and voiced. Richard actually brings out the best in Jason without doubt. Best thing was, amongst all the pokes and digs, what shone through was 3 gamers just loving talking about their hobby regardless of subject or opinion.

This was your most interesting Top 10 to date. I'd like to suggest that you make this a regular format of your top 10 lists, with inputs coming from Tom as a mainstay, and rotating the other two spots with different Dice Tower contributors and/or guest appearances by other reviewers.

This collaboration with Rahdo including Jason talking about the Euro's (the finest form of gaming in the Universe) is simply amazing imo. Tom, you should have Rahdo on frequently, his brilliance + the DT Magic have made forn some of my favorite moments ever on this channel.

The chemistry is so good! I just figured out that Tom loves conflict in discussions as much as in his games! I think while Jason/Richard shines the most in this video, the look onTom's face tells me he doesn't mind it in the least to play 2nd/3rd fiddle when the moments were so good!

I loved this list!! Awesome!! @derwoodbowen59548 жыл бұрын
Having Rahdo join made this truly interesting. The Sam, Tom and Zee interactions are always good, but do have an aura of predictability. Richard and Jason really made it different. I know from meeting Tom that he disagrees with Richard a lot and it was a bold choice. While you might argue about pick up and delivery, the personal interaction really made this. Richard and Jason are nothing if not knowledgeable. Good job to Tom for engineering this. (almost no pun intended)

My brother has never seen Firefly, but really enjoys Firefly: The Game. It's my favorite pick-up and deliver game. Here's my list: 1. Firefly: The Game 2. Merchants & Marauders 3. Isaribi 4. Deep Sea Adventure 5. Keyflower 6. Flash Point: Fire Rescue 7. Rumble in the Dungeon 8. Alcatraz: The Scapegoat 9. Broom Service 10. Merkator
I was pleased to see Rahdo and Jason when the video started but was a little concerned Richard wouldn't mesh well during the interactions. I was so wrong! Great job guys! As for me, Firefly is my favorite for solo, Xia is my favorite for multi-player. Which is funny because I much prefer the fantasy theme. They're both just that good!

I agree with everyone this was one of the best top 10! You all had great discussion! I always feel like with Zee and Sam it always gets awkward, like they can't have a discussion without having Sam get upset and shut down and Zee and Tom saying a joke at Sams expense. Don't get me wrong I love Zee and Sam as well, but when all 3 are together for a top 10 too much tension and it makes me uncomfortable.

It seems like where Tom and Richard see Pickup and Deliver as a mechanic, Jason sees it as a thematic element. I'm not sure it makes sense as a thematic element though. Pickup and Deliver, if described more thoroughly, should really be described as "Pickup, move to a new place, then deliver", in which case, all the railway/rout-building games wouldn't qualify mechanically, but they might still thematically. Still is a great set of lists, thanks guys. :)
@cthulwho81978 жыл бұрын
Yeah, to Jason pick up and deliver has to include moving physical goods and selling them for money. Of course you can deliver a person to the paramedics just as you can deliver food to the table in the same room (or even deliver a speech).
@wroot_lt8 жыл бұрын
+Boardgame Knight I agree on the different view of both sides here (mechanical against thematic). But i think Jason had a point arguing against Forbidden Desert and Flash Point if going by "deliver" definition (thematically). You have to hand of and give it to someone else, not take it to your ship or whatever. This is looting, searching, bringing or anything else, but not delivering. Delivering to an ambulance is such a stretch also :) Well, at least in my book. But i lean to agree with Rahdo about route connecting instead of P&D on railway games.
@stevefett18 жыл бұрын
+Cthulwho? I see Jason's problem with it though. At its core Flashpoint is a put out the fires and save people game. I'd never call it a pick up and deliver game. Same with either of the Forbidden games. That's not the main goal in either game.

I just want to say for Tom's comment about Jason's #10, that I fell asleep trying to watch the first episode of Firefly, have never actually seen the show beyond the first 10 minutes, and I have no desire to go back and watch the show, and yet I absolutely love Firefly: The Board Game. I found it very immersive and you just get lost in the game and realize you've never even started the main mission yet, you're just having so much fun picking up and delivering, and building your crew, etc, etc, etc, and then 3 hours have gone by, lol.
@jelledaems8088 жыл бұрын
I love the fact that Rahdo is starring as a guest in a dice tower top 10! He has a totally different taste of board games than the rest of the dice tower. This should be done more in the Dice Tower Top 10 videos: invite a guest! And I know from the the videos of the dice tower and Rahdo Runs Through, that my taste in board games is a lot more like Rahdo than Tom/Zee/Sam. For example: I just love The Gallerist, but I don't think that this is a game for Tom/Zee/Sam, while my gaming group absolutely loves it. No problem of course. But is is nie to hear another opinion ;)

40:32 - Gotta agree with Jason. Forbidden Desert and Forbidden Island are really stretching the definition of "pick-up-and-deliver". May as well call "Escape: Curse of the Temple" pick-up-and-deliver as well, because you are deliver gems to different tiles throughout the temple in order to be able to escape.

I feel that I should note that I have taught Firefly: The Game to someone who had never seen the show, and he loved playing the game. Of specific note, I think, is the sandbox feel of the game, which is definitely part of what I like about it. It is long, but that can vary a lot depending on which scenario you play (and some of the new setup cards are definitely helping to shorten the game). Definitely backing Jason on this one.

Forbidden Desert is not at all pick up and deliver. It's basically set collection. Find one of each piece of the airship to escape. Yes you have to go to one particular space on the board to escape but it's not like you have to take the pieces back and drop them off before heading out again or something. You just have to all be on that square once you have the pieces in order to escape.
@89Torrek8 жыл бұрын
My favorite Pickup-and-Deliver is Lords of Xidit. You gather your army: militia, archers, clerics, mages and then go to cities "fighting" with monsters - delivering right type of units. I love programming aspect, the way of scoring and it's really beautifull with high production value.

Good vid. But Jason, what part of FCM is "pickup?" It's prepare and deliver if anything.
@Steve-L8 жыл бұрын
Cinque Terre is my 40th favorite game. I would say this is the only "classic" Pick up & delivery game on my list. Pick up & Delivery doesn't excite me. But I did like this game. Forbidden Desert is my 68th favorite game. I had played Forbidden Island at a game convention last year and it was a bit too simple for my taste. Someone in my meetup knew I was looking to play this, and brought it. Unfortunately they set it up wrong and we failed, but I got the idea and liked it enough, and looking forward to playing it again. Settlers of America - Trails to Rails is my 52nd favorite game. I think it falls into the category discussed in this video where you create a network, but don't actually deliver the product. Not sure, only played the game once, but quite liked it. My favorite Catan style game. Iron Dragon is currently at #111. I actually keep a top 110 because replaying games may put a game back on the the top 100, but have kept Iron Dragon at 111, because I played the game only once probably over 10 years ago. I remember liking the game okay. I was only playing 2 games at the time, and it was before immersing myself into the hobby. I may like it more. I am looking forward to playing it again, and believe if I do, it will climb back onto my top 100, but won't know until I do. Coal Baron is a game I recently looked into, and looks like something I may like. It is on my "to play" list. It looks very thematic, and I love games with strong theme. Return of Heroes was a game I had on my "to play" list, or even my "to get" list, but 2 things have kept since removed it. First and foremost I learned you can get a quest, and the item you need to fulfill that quest can be stuck in the bag for a long time destroying the game. This was a game breaking concept to me, the 2nd thing is it is OOP. Otherwise I love fantasy adventure games and really wanted it. But not any more. The Great Zimbabwe is a game that I almost played. We were getting it set up and being taught the game and I learned of it's theme. The theme seemed offensive to me, and didn't want to play. Luckily for me, the 3rd player was falling asleep, and so we quit before playing. Twin Tin Bots: I never heard of this game and just watched Tom's review. It instantly went on my "to get" list, as RoboRally is my favorite game. I really enjoyed watching this video, it was refreshing to get a different group, even though it is not a type of game I am generally interested in.
