I grew up just 25km north of the border between Germany and Czech Republic. And many of these were my childhood's favourite sites and often part of the wonderful movies and series created around these places. But today, looking at some of the shots in your quick guide I can see, how close the architectural resemblance between old villages and towns on both sides are. A tightly woven history ... and I know, rarely in pleasant ways.

In the summer season I can recommend after visiting Terezín to cross the river and visit Litoměřice or a little further away Úštěk, which is a local hidden gem.

Loket is great, but isn't it more of a daytrip from Karlovy Vary than from Prague?

Loved it, very great tips. Český Krumlov is great, we go there for birthdays for lunch. If you are in the city PLEASE get lost dont look at map and find some restaurant or tea place. Great asposfre in off season.

RPG’s!!! Great stuff!!! So a great week would be to go to some day trips that are your favorite and spend days in between seeing Prague. Not only would you have a great time, but prices compared to Austria or Germany would agree with your budget. Twice as much fun for half the price!!!!

Great job, as always. I went to almost all these places when I lived in Prague in 2011. I did not know about the 3 others. When I went to Karlstejn there were many people, but they had it organized very well so there wasn't a lot of waiting. I also liked the videos you made of the separate places as well. One you missed here was where Dvořák was born (Nelahozeves), there's a private castle there, as I'm sure you know. For anyone who reads this, the Nazi prison camp called Terezin is a must see. My apartment was less than 10 minutes from the bus.

Would you recommend bohemian in winter? Visiting in December and we are wanting to see some nature sites even though they may be covered in snow 🤣
@henningbartels6245 Жыл бұрын
snow is getting rare in central Europe in the last decades. There could be some snowflakes in December but around Christmas or New Years there is a usually a wheather phenomenon with milder temperatures and rather rain. January and Februrary have a higher chance of snow ... or if you go to mountainous areas.

I'll be in Prague for 3 nights in July. With my two teenage girls. I have two tours in Prague booked with 100 spires. After that, I'll have 4 more days to fill before I fly to Copenhagen to see friends. I can decide what to do with those days. I didn't drive, so we will move around by bus and train. I was thinking of two nights in Telč and one night in Cesky Krumlov. Train to Telč, then bus and train to Cesky Krumlov. The last day Cesky Krumlov to Prague by train. What do you think? Too much?

We are heading to Prague this Summer. I was looking at the Hillman 1000 and they list 8 places in the Czech Republic, with 3 being in Prague (Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, Prague Old Town #53 of 1000). You also have 3 of the remaining 5 (Cesky Krumlov, Karlovy Vary, Kutna Hora). The other 2 they list are: Marienbad & Olomouc. Any thoughts on those?

Thanks for pointing this out. Next time we’ll do more research 😂 Actually when we studied the guiding school in Prague, they taught us that Pruhonice park is part of Prague’s UNESCO protection area and upon searching in google, it is. So that’s where our confusion comes from.

Just to clarify - I wouldn´t recommend a trip to Bohemian Switzerland right now. There was a severe forrest fire this year destroying most of the nature around Pravčická brána, which is closed for the visitors right now. The rest of the nature park is OK I guess, but not as easily accesible form Prague. And be prepared for another kind of catastrophical views - the forrest was decimated by a massive invasion of bark beetle, so instead of trees you will find lot of empty spaces. I mean maybe give it few decades before visiting? (If you are not a biologist who would enjoy watching the slow rebirth process after those two events.)
@chris-channel2 жыл бұрын
I wouldnt recommend Pravčická brána area either right now but there are other areas worth visiting Jetrichovice, Ostrov, Tiské steny and do not forget about the German neighbor region Saxon Switzerland. The German part has better places for accommodation than the Bohemian Switzerland. I recommend Bad Schandau.
