7:42 shock therapy isn't like you see in the movies, they sedate you , like you would do if you were going to have surgery, then they apply the shock and most of the time, looking at the patient, you would never know that it was happening. 8:11 there is *****NO WAY***** to take your tonsils out without anesthesia, they had chloroform and opium based anesthetics back then, either she is lying or her grandmother is lying, having a patient thrashing around on the table would make it impossible to do the operation. i had my tonsils taken out back in the early 70's to help deal with the horrible ear infections i used to get when i was a kid.

No my mother got shock therapy to forget painful trauma. They'd carry her out, a vegetable for 2weeks. She still remembered trauma, though she never uttered a word about it again. She died of cancer, maybe it was an accumulation of pent up trauma.
