Moves like the tomahawk require your opponent to leave an opening for it to work, but the question mark kick is designed to create the opening for itself. Your opponent's own reaction to the initial move is what leaves them vulnerable to the actual strike. Brutal and so very effective.
@lawrenceworrell591

Especially when your not expecting it. Which is the point of the move. Lowered hands to protect the body them BAM right in the face.

In my opinion, it should be illegal. It could devastate your opponent and hurt them permanently. Its just a sport right? So then lets be good sports about it. Just sayin...

@@luism.5999 That logic would fundamentally reject MMA, Boxing and most disciplines of Martial Arts from the realm of sport altogether. Not necessarily a bad thing, but massively outside the realm of what is reasonably possible in the immediate future.

@@luism.5999 in the case of the tomahawk elbow, at least in the ufc, it is banned, sort of. it depends on the angle of the strike. it happened in the Hamill vs Jones fight. Jones was in Hamill's guard throwing elbows and he threw 2 or three tomahawk elbows and got DQ'ed because he was throwing them straight up and down.

@harrydavey9884 look again, as he dives over the obviously done guy on the floor, he also literally blocks the incoming, and totally unnecessary, punch with a textbook forearm. Two things for me: 1. you really dont see that many refs who are so quick to both spot someone who is out and react immediately to protect the guy so effectively, and 2. I cant stand the scum who dive in to batter someone who has been clearly sparked out

It’s rarely worth the effort, unless you catch someone clean on the chin with their hands down it doesn’t do anything. Not nearly enough power to hurt someone through a high guard. I prefer the roundhouse kick.

As someone who has been practicing Taekwondo since the 80's, I can tell you that what is called the "Question Mark Kick" and the "Brazilian Kick" in this video are techniques that have been in the style for hundreds of years. Taekwondo has dozens of multi strike and fake into strike kicks. The "Sickle Kick" is called the twist kick (in English) and is another common technique, used to slip around front kick blocking. The Axe Kick (and related crescent kick) are both a standard part of Taekwondo. The "Tornado Kick" is one of over a dozen different jumping kicks in Taekwondo. Many other martial arts and MMA borrow its kicks, though rarely acknowledge doing so.

Great channel. Not filled with tons of dumb sponsored ads and nonsense. Just straight up amazing unfiltered content. Glad you're growing fast because you deserve it FAM, keep it up! Edit. Dude in first vid who took those elbows needs to learn how to block lol. Every time he attacked, he let his guard down so asian dude took advantage of easy counters.

@@bugsy3223 true but most sponsors are garbage companies with garbage products, basically scams. Alot of sports and esport channels love having gambling sites for sponsors.

Nice compilation, I appreciate it, new sub. Sickle kick? Never heard that before, but whatever. In Karate we refer to this kick as an "inside-out kick", both in Shotokan and in Tang Soo Do. Doesn't truly matter though, it works just as well. As Shakespeare says, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Looking forward to a part two. Thanks for sharing. The spinning elbow shown in the intro (the 2nd set of fighters) was so strange. The guy seemed so hesitant when he started his attack, but then spun at full speed, and returned to slow motion with his follow up strikes. I was thinking that he was either just very lucky, or very, very smart to set up that attack. Regardless, it’s so much fun to watch!👍🏻

7:30 I guess he felt the guy staying on his knee was ripping off the people who paid money to watch a fight and he was being a chicken. It is not always about winning, sometimes it is about doing the right thing. Even though he lost by DQ I bet he got a lot of respect and love from the fans.

Sickle ķick is bituro chagi in TKD ..dolque chagi is the tornado kick, a TKD signature.. It's funny some years ago techniques from taekwondo or full contact styles of Karate were considered "Useless " by most MMA "experts " until some cool cats brought them to the UFC with quite success... Bravo to the bold minds of fighters that dared to do it and continue to do it...but

Yes, they are cool special tools. Best used sparingly though. Like no more than once per fight. Surprise is best with the fancier stuff.
