Great video doc! Very informative. I had a transplant in Turkey two years ago. Things went well, I had 2100 grafts placed around my hairline. Now I desire more density. Would you recommend both fin and minoxidil? My native hairs are thinning behind my hairline. I may have another transplant coming in the future

Thank you for your kind words! Yes, I recommend both finasteride and minoxidil to help maintain and improve density, especially since your native hairs are thinning. Being on medical therapy paired with a hair transplant is really how you can the best results and that is what they should have had you on after your hair transplant 2 years ago. If you need more help, I do virtual appointments you can book on my website kopelmanhair.com

Hello. Very good video and very informative. I have two questions. 1- Is there an interest in using finasteride for advanced hairloss ? Or do advanced hairloss cases need to go directly on dutasteride instead ? 2- For men want to conceive, would you advise them to stop 5 Alpha reductase inhibitors ? If yes how long ?

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm really glad you found the video informative. When it comes to advanced hair loss, I still find that finasteride has a place in treatment. Even in more severe cases, finasteride can be effective in slowing down the progression of hair loss. That said, for some of my patients with more advanced hair loss, I might consider switching to or starting with dutasteride, which is a bit stronger since it inhibits both types of 5-alpha reductase enzymes. The decision between finasteride and dutasteride really depends on how each individual responds to treatment, how well they tolerate the medication, and the specific pattern of hair loss they're experiencing. As for men who are planning to conceive, I generally recommend stopping 5-alpha reductase inhibitors like finasteride or dutasteride. While the risk to fetal development is thought to be low, I like to err on the side of caution. I usually suggest stopping the medication at least 3 months before trying to conceive. This gives the body enough time to clear the drug from the system and helps support healthier sperm parameters.
