The Top 10 reasons You Should NOT move to Denver, Colorado and the worst things you NEED to know about moving to Colorado Springs or Boulder instead.
Worst places to live in Nashville - • Top 10 Reasons NOT to ...
What's it like living in Denver? Well first off, the elevation is higher than most cities at 5,280 feet above sea level and it's located right next to the beautiful front range of the Rocky Mountains. The weather here is crazy and gets very cold with lots of snow but also very hot and dry in the Summer. It's actually the largest city in Colorado, and along with Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Boulder and other secluded mountain towns, one of the best cities to live in America. A lot of people are moving from California and Texas to the Mile High City, making it one of the fastest growing and most expensive cities in the United States. If the Centennial State has the #1 economy, why shouldn't you live in Denver, CO?
Thanks for watching From Here to There! This is one of my top ten videos where we explain things about the world, it's history, and geography, starting with the different states, cities, and towns in the United States. Find out the worst and best places to live in 2019!

I moved here from Texas in 11-2009. I had no trouble adjusting to the altitude. After living in Houston for 28 years, I have no complaints about the Denver weather. In Houston, summer runs from March to November. You don't know what you will get from December to February, but I will tell you this: with Houston just 90 minutes away from the Gulf of Mexico, the worst blizzard in Denver is a cakewalk compared to what happens when the temp in Houston drops below freezing. When that happens, you do not leave the house! Denver is not isolated-Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Greeley, Boulder-they are all growing. I do not care about beaches.

I lived there from 1991 until 2011. Moved from PA. It became home. Lived on Cap Hill. I saw some of that top 10 on my visits back and it saddened me. I thought that my forced move back east would only be for a few years but I am still here. (Ended up with my dream job in theater though!) I still want to move back. I work in NYC and live in Jersey. As crazy as Denver has gotten, it will still be much less expensive and crowded than NYC. I have a family of friends still in Denver so I have them to look forward to. We'll see. The decision has gotten harder in the past few years because of my job. I really love it. And I live in a very quiet neighborhood in Jersey. Just so sad to see the changes in Denver. It was a wonderful place to live when I moved there. The people were great and the quality of living was so good. No real stress. Even working full time I always felt like I was on vacation!

As a Denver native, I can say that there are a lot of people who have moved here who do not play nice. They don't seem to understand the ethic..... They litter like it is a god given right. There are a lot of aggressive drivers who always seem to be in a hurry. Denver is popular now so there are a lot of trendies. The traffic is an issue. We are welcoming here but we guard our resources with fierce devotion. There are a lot of people who have moved here who show little to no respect for the natural world. They just don't get it. These type of people simply do not belong.....It is a lot like being a house guest. Relax, have a good time but show respect.

You forgot massive gentrification. People who are native here are being displaced by businesses and developers, tearing down classic homes with beautiful architecture and replaced with obnoxious condos to fit out of towners who have no respect for this city or it's culture. The Weed boom is over, look to other cities that are about to legalize soon. Also, the high homeless population. Mostly people who moved here thinking they were going to immediately get a job in the green business but got a rude awakening due to the competition for the jobs and the mandatory licensing which is expensive and extremely thorough in it's vetting process.

I am military and trying to get Colorado as my last duty station before I retire and plan on living in the Springs/Fountain area. A lot of the stuff mentioned in the video comes with any place you live, minus the elevation which Im sure will have to acclimated to. But I feel the pros outweigh the cons in every aspect, especially if you plan on living outside the big cities. I'm a big wildlife supporter and Colorado is one of the only places with multiple facilities that allow volunteering to be able to interact with their animals.

I'm a Denver native and I recently moved to Texas because it's just not the same anymore. I'm 50 years old so I've seen lots of changes in my hometown. And it's really sad. One thing that ruined it was the legalization of weed. Now there's people from all over the U.S. moving there and they now make up half of the homeless population. They go to Denver thinking they're gonna have a hunky dory time when they don't even realize they can't get a job there without passing a drug test. And because the cost of living has skyrocketed they end up on the streets. So "Go back home" is actually good advice.

I ended up in Denver 12/31/1999 when my parents split and I was 17 then. 20 years, a husband, and 3 kiddos later I’m still here. I didn’t meet my husband in Denver though lol. Singles will have a hard time finding love out here. Anyway, I grew up in the hoods of Memphis where I saw my classmates murdered and attended their funerals, was carjacked, live in the middle of heavy gang activity and drugs. Our Memphis home had bars on every window... abandoned houses on every block that were crack houses and we passed them every day walking to school. So when I hear all the cons about this city I laugh. Denver is truly a gem. It has the most beautiful landscaping you’ll ever see in addition to the mountains, there are hundreds of beautiful parks to take your kids to. DENVER is a breath of fresh air. It may be a thin breath of fresh air, but it’s fresh nonetheless. Yes it’s gotten expensive but you can find really great paying jobs here. I get a 3% cost of living raise every year in addition to the standard raises and bonuses. My kids have been in Cherry Creek school district since they were in kindergarten and they ride the school bus and I’ve never had any major issues...no drive-bys, no gang fights... I don’t live in a rich neighborhood, but it’s not a bad one either. My neighborhood has crime, but not at an alarming rate. It is a great place to establish your family! It is one of the safest places to live! I’ll take bad traffic over the fear of being carjacked every day. I’ll take the unpredictable weather over humid summers with ravenous mosquitoes and flying cockroaches.(There are hardly any mosquitoes in the summer here... sorry that’s a big plus for a southerner😂). the summer nights are perfect! It’s dry here but just stay hydrated, buy chapstick, moisturize and you’ll be fine. The snow isn’t really that bad and hasn’t been heavy in years. 50 degrees here feels like 70 degrees in the south minus the humidity... even 32 degrees with the sun it feels like 45 🤩. I guess what I’m trying to say is there is absolutely nothing bad this guy or anyone could say about Denver that would persuade me otherwise. The drivers here are fine in my book compared to Texan and Floridian drivers...#IlovetheMileHighCity

Sooo many of the comments are spot on. I said in the early 2000s that the Denver Metro area would become the next LA, no one listened to me. The traffic and pollution are horrible. Go to the foothills, then look out over Denver, you'll see a brown cloud that you don't see while you're in the Metro area. Cost of living is through the roof right now. Last apartment I had in 2005 went for $625 at 644 sq feet. That same apartment now goes for $1255. It's absurd. Homeless is insane, damn near every intersection has a someone begging for money.

I visited Denver, Colorado. My daughter saw the positive freemallride, I was like confused who was who. Yuppies, heroin addict, homeless, the sign if you disturb the driver is a felony? (Driver surrounded by glass very well protected, never seen it. It's a great idea, but why? I stayed downtown, because on my way there I saw graffiti, homeless, read about dangerous areas. I was tired, basically not much to do. My tour to city of Gods, peak was canceled. I live in San Diego, its expensive, beautiful. Yes, I been to Los Angeles, Oakland, Compton that's BAD, even here Encanto shootings. Denver has no control over homeless =they're everywhere, here they're in specific spot. No, you can build homes, there still don't want to move there. I still want to see peak/city of Gods. Hope Denver gets better, it has potential. I moved away from the Denver area after living there for 40 years. I can attest to everything in this video. There are two seasons..snowing and HOT (also known as Road Construction, because there is a LOT). Denver's snowiest months are March and April, and it is wet, heavy snow. And you would think people would know how to drive in the snow, but they don't. Flatlanders come to ski, rent 4 wheel drive SUVs, and think they're invincible. It can snow as late as May (spring is unheard of), you cannot plant anything until at least Memorial Day, the then thermometer hits 90 or above and stays there until at least mid-September. Fall might or might not be in October some years. And they say there are 245 sunny days a year, but the sun is unrelenting for at least 350 days a year. You find yourself wishing for a gloomy day. There are no "rush hours"...the traffic is horrible all day long. You wait in line interminably for everything, from restaurants to renewing a driver's license. After the legalization of weed, Denver went from just another big, clogged city to ridiculous. It was the influx of that crowd that drove up the housing prices, rent, and traffic. It was bad before, but it became horrid. Don't even think about enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery, even out of ski season. You will be up there with a million of your friends. In ski season it's just nuts; and yes, if it's been a snowy winter (which actually have become fewer and fewer) some ski areas stay open until June. When I moved there in the 1970s, Denver (and Colorado Springs) were such lovely places. Now they are both sprawling, out of control urban and suburban nightmares. Seriously.

Terrible drivers, some of the worst in the country. I've been to many cities, but this one takes first place for the worst drivers ever, zero road courtesy and a lot of bullies tailgating you all the time.
@vildeclis3

This is actually true AND factual. There are statistics to prove it. Colorado does not require you actually driving for class to get a license. You simply need to pass their driving test and you're good. No one uses turn signals out here and everyone drives vindictively / with emotion. Can't count the number of times I've needed to merge and watch vehicles literally speed up to block me in. smh

I went to Idaho Springs for a few months to help my friend with his car repair business. Everything he says is true. I'm from Houston. It took me a month to stop blowing hard ass boogers out of my nose. And the random nose bleeds finally stopped. Everything is expensive. Parking in downtown is non-existent. My mouth was constantly dry, even though I was drinking 2 gallon of water a day, sometimes more. My skin became dry, flaky and scaly. I love to drink beer, but God damn, every beer in Colorado is a fucking Hoppy IPA. I usually ended up with Coors Light. The Mexican food was shit. The BBQ was shit. Traffic on a Friday heading west on highway 70 was a nightmare.... And that was at 2pm. But the views of the stars, being at the top of a mountain and seeing the sun come up, and watching it go down.... Man. Ain't nothing like that here in Houston. I envy people who live in Colorado.... But i'm also glad to be home.

Something I didn't realize before moving to Denver was how polluted the air is. There's coal burning power plants and oil refineries right in the heart of the city, then there's Weld county, where there a ton of fracking. Do your research if you care about your health. Don't be fooled, you will not find fresh mountain air in Denver, instead, daily air quality alerts to exercise indoors, don't fuel up during the day, combine trips, use public transport, etc.

I’m a native and work in the City. Homelessness is pretty bad and tent cities sprout up, then get clean out only to sprout up again. Traffic is bad and you get a mix of rude transplants here that disrupt the kindness and outgoing attitude of the natives here. Most transplants move here because their original state sucks. Isn’t Democracy great! Now we have increased cost of living with shitty traffic, increased homelessness, increased auto insurance along with shitty transplant attitudes! Please visit and don’t move here. There is enough bad flannel dressed hipsters with bad mustaches here! Enough Dammit!

Denver native here. while I love my city, I am afraid I'm starting to see some problems similar to cities like Seattle and San Francisco, such as a huge homeless population with rampant drug abuse, out in the open drug deals and mental health problems, property crimes etc..and when low level repeat offenders get arrested they're getting charges dropped or released right away instead of receiving some sort of option to break the cycles and get the help they actually need leading to cops being resentful that they can't do their job and criminals having a wild Wild West anything goes attitude. Its the early stages of serious problems starting to rear their ugly head. I don't know enough about politics and their effect on policies to intelligently discuss it, but I think there are some strong correallations.

Denver has a gun control attitude.

There's no loop around the city, meaning that people are forced into a one way situation. Denver is the only city that does not have a loop.
