Another reason he's just a great villain in general is, he understands the dangerous and stupidity of monologue. I mean he literally says 'you sly do, you got me monologing.' He is the only villain I've ever seen that recognises why monologue is such a bad idea.

Except he really isn't 'trying' to get Riley in trouble. He's an emotion; His nature is to be rash and act on impulse with violent or aggressive responses. Just as Joy is optimistic to a fault and believes that happiness is the emotion that Riley should feel and never understands how sadness is also needed. The emotions are not human beings so they are typically one-sided by their very nature. However, they are like humans in that they can think freely, which is why Joy is able to realize in the end that sadness is an important emotion for a person to feel and how sad memories can also be happy at the same time and vice versa. Riley's emotions are basically immature in and of themselves, just as Riley is immature due to her being a child. As emotions mature, they can become more level-headed and control themselves and also work with each other, instead of individually at different moments. Think of the small control panel as being an symbol for maturity. As a person matures, they can feel more emotions at once and control them better. Children typically have mood swings and feel different emotions at different times chaotically, thus why the emotions have such a small control panel, only big enough for one emotion at a time. Near the end of the film, Riley has matured, and so her emotions can work together much more easily. It's also important to know that Riley's emotions and Riley herself are not really separate entities; They are one in the same. Riley's actions are not totally due to the faults and actions of the emotions(although in a way they also are). Riley is going through a chaotic time, what with having to move to a completely new place at such a young and confusing age. Her actions and choices are simply that: her actions and choices. The emotions are simply a way to represent what is going through her head. Riley isn't the victim of some faulty emotions that are inadvertently messing her up, she's just a kid whose emotions are out of whack. It's Riley's story as much it is the emotions'.

I'm wondering if the brother have ever heard about the Edna theory. Basically, all of the supers would go to Edna because she is obviously the best and well known for her quality and designs. She gave multiple of them capes and afterwards felt responsible for their deaths. Then Syndrome came along and obviously wanted a suit designed by her even though she probably only makes them for HEROES. Shes not stupid, so she must have known that he was up to no good and decided to design him a cape just in case he couldn't be stopped and only some bad luck with his came could bring him to an end. And to possibly feel better about the innocent supers that she accidentally "killed", that's why she was so upset when Mr. Incredible said he wanted a cape.

In this or another video, you said Syndrome probably invented BnL, because of the similarity of the spoon-shaped scanner he uses to scan things, seen in other films (WALL•E, Finding Nemo, etc), also there's the fact that both BnL and Syndrome have extremely creative tech. But here's the other similarity you missed: zero-point energy. In WALL•E, when the villain is revealed, EVE is frozen motionless by a beam of energy, aka zero-point energy, just a refined version. My favorite "Syndrome moment" is when he gets knocked into the engine of the jet and his cape gets caught, leading to what we assume is his demise. Not because it's a "yay, the villain died" thing, but because you just see that utter terror in his face and you know he's fearing for his life as he knows he's going to be cut to pieces. The expression he has and his struggle hits me in the feels.

My favorite Syndrome moment is when he realizes that he was monologue-ing. Pure gold. It takes everything that Frozone said was ridiculous about villains in the car with Mr. Incredible earlier, and shows several things: that Syndrome is a more sophisticated villain that the others, that he's aware that he's the villain and is perfectly fine with it (as opposed to villains who commit crimes but think they're in the right), and that he feels completely safe around Mr. Incredible and sees him as no threat at all compared to his tech. Intelligent, no chance of his opinion being swayed, and lack of fear - all make Syndrome a great villain.

I still think Lotso is a better villain. I found his back story to be more tear jerking and he also serves as a good foil to the heroes as both Lotso and Woody had to deal with rejection and not being played with but ended up taking different paths thus showing the difference between the hero and the villain.

I personally felt Hopper was the best villain in that, even now, I find him terrifying. And he does epitomise everything that we see in evil people. But, in that light, thats what makes him the worse. He's not that clever really and just uses brawn. The Omnidroids. Think about it. they're robots that can learn. every moment you spend fighting one just makes it more powerful. one even cuts its ties with its "master" --TWICE, mind you!= and does whatever it wants. Syndrome's failing was that he created a much greater evil than himself, which, thankfully, was eventually stopped with some quick thinking and teamwork.

I always thought syndromes name was a reference to “Hero Syndrome.” Which refers to people in authority roles (i.e firefighters and police officers) that feel the need to always be the hero so they create problems only they can fix. Like a firefighter that commits arson so he can later put it out and be the hero. They crave the recognition and praise
