My dream is to become a pilot as well I recommend joining Air cadets if your country has the program as pilot training can cost hundreds of thousands to millions for university and flight school, If you serve the military for a few years then they pay for your education even food after that you're free to be whatever you want. That is how we do it here in Canada anyway.Here is a fun game where you can fly WW2 aircraft in dog fights: War thunder I highly recommend it. Sure people at my school make fun of me for loving all things aircraft but when you can make 200,000 a year why not? Good luck for your dreams and never stop believing it pay's off in the long run.

@mikep96045 жыл бұрын
Here is basic information about the Class 1 medical certificate: www.atpl.at/class_1_medical_certificate.php The costs of the training can vary depending on the country. You can find information regarding the training in different countries. You can make a search "ATPL training". Here is one example: www.grupooneair.com/commercial-pilot-course-spain/
@memezunlimited9065 жыл бұрын
It honestly varies on the costs. I recommend using King Schools for GROUND school. I use them. They offer multiple plans, The most expensive is currently $500-600 but the cheapest is like $200-300. For the medical it varies. Eyesight issues are ok as long as they're correctable with glasses/contacts. Can't have insulin dependent diabetes. They take a lot of other tests too for heart, blood pressure, lung capacity, mental health. They generally don't allow bipolar disorder and a few other things but it varies from person to person there really isn't a specific number for everything.
@memezunlimited9065 жыл бұрын
I'm a girl too (kinda worried since there aren't many other female pilots)
@mikep96045 жыл бұрын
Memez Unlimited - At least it seems that today all airlines have female pilots in their flight crews.
@mikep96045 жыл бұрын
@Brendan Mayorga - You need 1500 flight hours to get an Airline Transport Pilot Licence. You can first get a CPL (commercial pilot licence) and you don't need as much flight hours for the CPL. You need about 250 flight hours to get the CPL. With the CPL it is easier to build more flight hours for the ATPL. If you also get a CFI rating you can work as a flight instructor and build those flight hours more quickly. In Europe (EASA rules) it's also possible to have first a so called frozen ATPL with lesser flight hours than those 1500 hours, and you can apply for a job as a first officer.

Advice for all the teenagers and kids wanting help in learning to fly. I don't know where you are located but in the USA there are programs like en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young_Eagles There is also the Civil Air Patrol which has youth section www.gocivilairpatrol.com/cap_home/youth/ If you are located near a coast and/or near wilderness areas they will be more active and need volunteers. From people in distress and those that need locating. An air survey to give a SIT REP to rescuers to better prepare and gear up or down to the needs and/or to drop an emergency supply pack/flotation. remember that plane circling overhead is comfort and will keep them from panicking and getting in worse trouble hopefully. If in the USA as part of school, your parents had a program offered around the 9th or 10th grade (age14 -15 for starting) which was called "Explorer Scouting", which was a program that you attend monthly meetings for the whole year. With professionals in the field of many jobs and with other like minded teenagers. Some new , some with several years experience. The purpose is to explore the job field you show interest in for careers choices. To make sure the job field is what you want before you commit a lot of time(University/Trade School) and money to only find out ""Wait I didn't want be a barber I wanted to be a ""Lumberjack"" ( see the comedy Monty Python - Lumberjack Song on youtube) The Explorer groups helped you get starting off head start advantage of experience(can't get any if no one will work you , see how many pilots are flying in third world countries until they can move to the bigger planes and airlines) and make the very important contacts to help open doors for you. Adults in the field, in your case Pilots, Aviation crews, ATC ETC, Volunteer their time to help mentor the upcoming generation. The program changed names but the aviation section is at www.exploring.org/aviation/ for 14-20 year olds. If you are not in the USA, I would expect your country has something very similar. Ask your school's Guidance Counselors for information. That is part of their job and you can use that resource, even if you aren't in trouble at school and sent to speak with them. Don't expect the Counselors to be experts for the field but a resource for materials and who to contact for gathering information source. Then you'll have to follow those leads. Do you have a Flight/ Aviation Museum in your home town/city? They would be an equal resource and you'll be amazed for how the people will try to give you a hand up if your willing to do the work. Especially if you ask intelligent questions about what are these parts , where are the controls for____ on this aircraft on display? Don't be the usual kid that asks which button drops the bomb and/or fires the guns.... Plus they will have a Aviation Library that has numerous materials that you won't find at your school and/or public libraries. Like Approach plate present and historical. Let me tell you about when runway 18R became 18 C and there was no 18 R yet..... Volunteering will teach you a lot, because when working beside the people you'll hear information, stories, and have the ability to learn more from random bits of extra knowledge outside of the typical classroom and educational speeches. Sweeping isn't fun but you will be nearer to the aircrafts and when you wipe them down, that will give you experience with touching the aircrafts. Hands on will help and while every plane is different never think you're above flying_____ because that ego works counter to getting where you want to be. Everyone starts small and works their way up. The people who jump first on the proverbial grenade tend to work their way up faster for that commitment. The internet has made it easier for you but that sheer amount of people with websites trying to make money is overwhelming to sort through, especially when you are learning the job field. So sorry for the long post trying to help you with free and low cost options. You'll be amazed at the adults who will understand your desire and frustration about finding the right path to have a higher likelihood of getting to be a pilot. Most will have years of experience and while you will not be given a plane to fly, you will benefit from their mistakes without paying the costs of them. No alienation of and long paths due to bad performance reviews from avoidable mistakes. If you had only known.... Plus they have the hindsight to see what they could have done differently. More help to you, than the so often repeated old advice about "...stay in school...", "...get good grades...". Which as you already figure out is only part of the combination to earning your wings. The Military in the late 1990's(iirc) admitted to their surprise and happiness that recruits who played flight simulators were way ahead of the general recruits for aircraft knowledge and skills. That the gaming helped them transition to real life application. Go back and look at what Flight sims were like back then compare to what you have now. There was no youtube and no large collection of videos by people like Captain Joe to help you along. The bad part is all these flight gopro camera videos of "views from___" it makes the agony of not being to fly and near aircraft that much worse for you at this age. Look on Google groups for newsgroup rec.aviation any picture or video would be under alt.binaries.X.X X= some name pattern with aviation as the anchor. That was what the last generation had and we benefited greatly than the the people a decade or two before us. So the odds are in your favor if you have a thirst to learn. Best of luck with life and in your career. To finish off, I hope you're still reading :) old quotes of sage advice....(you'll find lists of these on flight forums) The three most useless things to a pilot are the altitude above you, runway behind you and a tenth of a second ago. Never let an aircraft take you somewhere your brain didn't get to five minutes earlier. Add the next 3 together Learn from the mistakes of others. You won't live long enough to make all of them yourself. (covers life and many high risk activities) To build off above, You start with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck. *combine those two and you have a big part being a successful Pilot. Which means Pilots have Good judgement, that comes from experience. How do get that experience? Unfortunately , the experience usually comes from bad judgement. On lighter and funnier note, In the ongoing battle between objects made of aluminum going hundreds of miles per hour and the ground going zero miles an hour, the ground has yet to lose. & Stay out of clouds. The silver lining everyone keeps talking about might be another airplane going in the opposite direction. Reliable sources also report that mountains have been known to hide out in clouds. Most of all, Every takeoff is optional, every landing is mandatory. It's always better to be down here wishing you were up there than up there wishing you were down here. For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return. --Leonardo da Vinci--
@ablemagawitch7 жыл бұрын
Anthony Vo See my long, ok very long reply to STHYR right below your comment, about training options available. Written focused on the USA but applicable to other countries. Resources you might not have thought of yet. Your upload make think your from around Perth Australia so the programs names from the USA will have to be found for your country's official names but the basics of each group and outfit should exist. Example being the military air force patrols the skies but so does rescue boaters branch that is called Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol (established in 1937 as the Volunteer Coastal Patrol) and the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard . You wouldn't think of them for becoming a pilot at first, but what goes faster for searching an area, aircraft or boats? Which can be on scene faster? They will use helicopters but search planes help cover more ground/water. The Volunteering is a good way in way of trading your surplus time for service & education and building a resume. Professional pilots often volunteer to give back to the world which has been good to them. You'll never know how great and important someone is....Usually the biggest people say the least about their jobs and skill set. That connection could pay off with a door opening. Don't go with a "I'm just here to get to there..." attitude, it is ok to have the goal elsewhere but shine at what you do and people will notice. Hoping you get your wings sooner rather than later. Being in the air is the best. You might be able to fly gliders before powered aircraft. Transitioning over will be easier. Plus if you can start logging air hours earlier in life, all the better. :) Which will give you training and a foot in the door at the local airport. Big airports will be harder to get into than smaller private fields and clubs. Museum and historical planes clubs are another equal place to learn but expect to put a lot of work but the rewards are worth it. Most have discount memberships for people your age. But if lucky you can become the local assistant/Gofer all the while soaking the wealth of experience and knowledge of those around you. Always have you eyes and ears open and ask when it won't cause a disruption based on need of course of urgency.

The best advice I was ever given when I was talking about becoming a pilot was: "Go fly gliders while you finish your engineering's master degree." I regret not taken that road. I ended up becoming a helicopter pilot, aeronautical engineer and I am considering doing a bridge to the other side. But for those thinking about becoming a pilot, please take into account gliders as early as possible. This will give you the fundamentals of flying and help you to understand and feel the atmosphere.

Okay I’m 12, I have ALWAYS wanted to become a pilot since I was 4, my first time in a plane I LOVED IT! Our family is always traveling , (mainly cruises tho) I have been in about 14 plane rides, I love always I always ask to sit next to the window. I love heights, I’m picking my GCSE this February , (also flying to America in 19 days) 😚I don’t know what I need A levels in to become a pilot , what are the main subjects I have NO CLUE 😶

try going into GeoFs, its free! i recomend that you play the game for years and then become a pilot, it will teach you most, i have been playing for about two months now, i can easily keep the aircraft stable, im pratacing being escorted right now, then on to BEING the escort!

Captain Joe, It's very ironic you compared your job with a doctor. Which I'm as well. I wanted to be pilot but I choose to be a doctor because of scientific research. I love it! And although Pilots and doctors might get paid the same but research pays of pretty well. You literally get paid for thinking. Very very well. Also being a doctor, you get to go home everyday to be with your family. However one day I do want to learn flying. My dream is to be able to afford my own Jet and fly around in it. Something like a Bombardier LearJet Global or something. Learning a lot from your videos! Keep it up. You're the best.

The more I watch videos like these, the more I don't regret not being able to become a pilot. I was dead keen when I was young but knew I couldn't due to eyesight restrictions (yet it was medically proven I don't need glasses) . So the reality of being a commercial pilot is that it's a lifestyle not a living? I work in IT and earn as much as an airline captain, but it only took me seven years and no huge student debt. I work 9-5, have weekends off and am mortgage free, enjoying a stable, grounded lifestyle with relatively great job security in a role I enjoy. Each to there own but I never thought I'd not regret being a pilot. Good luck to those who do, you really need passion, discipline and commitment to be one these days, and not in it for the money it seems.

Captain please do make a video on financing the training.. because I'm stuck onlyyy because of money.. I'll be a mechanical engineer in a year.. Soo I really have no worries about maths and physics.. I love the technicality of machines I have also done my class one medical tests.. even though I have glasses I am more then eligible to fly. the only obstacle is financing it.. I am not from a very wealthy family.. so it's a hugeee challenge for me.. I applied for cadet pilot programs in Europe but I onlyyy failed because I live in Asia.. if you can tell us about some kind of bank with low interest rates that you know of.. or anyways that people like me can get into cadet pilot programs without any restrictions for where I live.. it'll be the best.. any kind of info will help. and btw thanks for the video.. I really really enjoy your videos.. plus you fly the family of plane that I really wanna fly in future.. Airbus.. and specially the new Airbus which was launched few hrs ago, an A380Plus... also A321NeoLR.. amazing planes.. can't wait for your next video... ☺

you can fly more cheaper but, you will be an stand-by personnel, which means if the flight is full you can not come, or you might get upgraded to First Class, but if your a Captain / First Officer or the manager of the Airport, 99% you will of flying. If you resign its 55%

Comparing doctors salaries to pilots is way off, the average doctor salary in the US is 180k, the average pilot salary 79k, the average airline pilot is 110K. The average surgeon salary is 273k. I am a dentist, work 200 days a year, and I make 350K. And I don't spend 100 days a year suffering from jet lag :)

Sven Reuser I don't know in which country you live,but your technology grades in 7/8th grades DON'T affected your career!! 😁😁What you learn at flight schools is very different ,more interesting and you'll be caught about the whole middle school and high school technology's curriculum in few months. So this really doesn't affect your future!! I myself am in prep school and will soon enroll in a flight school after 2 years (I chose the long studies,but it's not compulsory). So if you want to become a pilot, DO IT !!🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 (except if you change your mind of course)
