I drive about 6 hrs of highway and 3 hrs of secondaries every week. Being in sales, this is more my office than my car. I love everything about it and I'm in it at least 10 hrs per week...many times just idling and making calls or doing laptop work. The performance is great and I love the way the engine sounds! Got a used Q40 last summer for 15k. My decision was between this and a camry v6 (which cost more). This video was a good push. Incredible car. AWD, incredible design (especially the tailights), I love the fog lights, 3.7 sounds roary and muscle like, and the RWD bias handling. Hydraulic power steering is intoxicating. The driving feels raw overall. The bose sound system is the best I've heard in any car I've been in. In addition the simple infotainment design. Knobs, choice between touchscreen and rotary controls, cup holders without USBs or outlets in them to be soaked (like BMWs and Audis do today). I literally can't think of a better buy. It checks all the boxes for me. In addition it's made in japan and these are reliable as hell being naturally aspirated and having traditional torque converted automatic. To this day I watch tons of car videos and then get in this and instantly forget everything and fall in love.

Nice video. As the owner of 2 G35x's, and 2 G37x's (over the years) Id like to point out some big points you missed. Mainly the comfort. Its not great. Short drives are OK but the seats are absolutely rock hard, and they get worse in the winter. I know this could be a deal breaker. And to me the comfort is so bad it negates all the positives. Now this discomfort was not always there. It seems to have gotten worse, my G35s were ok. But now with roads so torn up and only getting worse im gonna have to let go of the G (or Q40) On a cold winter night they basically ride like a freight train. And every single G I have owned has never gotten super hot in the winter (The temperature control) I recently had a Q50 loaner for the day. They listened to all the complaints about the G series and fixed them. Less road noise. Seats that actually have cushion. The ride is more supple and the handling was still great.

Someone did a hit and run on my 2011 G37x while parked in front of my house last week, I had it for 4 years, it's totaled so I'm looking at the Q40. I don't need AWD where I live, but I buy it with AWD anyways because if just feels better, even in the little bit of rain we get here. My only gripe with this car is that the back seats don't fold down. I used to have Subaru's and I was able to buy a wall heater at home depot, fold my back seats down and bring it home. Everything else is perfect on the car. I lowered mine, put some low profile tires. wheels and springs and it handled like a dream. I'm looking at buying another in the next week or two, I've never bought the same car back to back, but I'm in love with this body style as I feel it's timeless. They're not too expensive but they look and feel so luxurious.

My ride quality was actually great. I live on a very bumpy highway in the country. I owned a Camry SE (Sport Edition) once and it was so rough I sold the car. The Q40 handles well, and absorbs the bumps much better. And you can push it in the corners. Also, the contour of the seat fit like a glove and held me in well around the curves. Just my two cents.

My wife drivesa c300 4matic and doesn’t like the harsh ride. The car drives and handles great but it’s the sport package . She got a good deal on it but we’re now thinking of getting a G37X for New England winters. Since it’s AWD AND HAS EXTRA weight in drivetrain does it ride as solid as the the Mercedes c300. 4matic sport. Just wondering if anyone switched from similar.

I have a 2012 G37x. Love the power and the handling. The auto transmission could feel like it is trying to search for the right gear at times. No issues in the Canadian winters with its awd. I have added an after market exhaust and 255 summer wheels. Wondering if anyone have gotten their G37 tuned for increase power and improved transmission performance? All in all...... a great car!

I have owned an I35, G35, G37S (AWD) and now a Q50S (AWD) all over the last 18 years. The latest ... a Q50S is the best (3L twin Turbo). As for mileage… just piled on about 400 highway miles last weekend and averaged about 37MPG (Imperial gallons … I live in Canada) which translates to about 31 MPG US. That’s as good as or better than any 3.0L - 3.5L BMW or Mercedes. Comparing the Infiniti to either BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Audi, or any top end US make… Infiniti wins hands down. It’s the engine and quality of build that do it for Infiniti. My brother in Calif. has a 12-year-old G35 (100,000 miles) and that car is as solid as it was when new. BMW Audi or Mercedes will drive you to the poor house with maintenance and repair expenses.

I have a BMW M3 and the Infiniti G37 and I like the Infiniti better as an overall daily drive. BMW M3 gets too much attention and people think you are richer than you are. I have a 2009 Infiniti G 37 styling is so great and its fun to drive and looks way more expensive than the car is. Lot of people think it looks like the new BMW 5 series.

Which is more reliable, q40 or q50? Really stuck between the two
@ZS-xi4xk6 жыл бұрын
Depends on if you're getting the Q50 with the VQ37 or the VR30 engine. The VQ has proven it's reliability, the VR has yet to do that, but since Nissan has been doing twin turbos since the GTR first came out I'm sure the VR30 is reliable as well.

I have to disagree with the handling on the G37x sedan! My old G35x sedan handles a lot better than the G37x. After buying the G37X sedan, driving at 70 mph and doing lane change, their is to much body roll, I had no confidence in the car, I was very sad that the newer car was worst in handling than the older car. So after spending over 2k for F/R stabilizer bars, Swifts lowering springs, Cusco strut brace, and summer tires, the car now handles very nice and fun to drive again! I had a BMW M3 and this sedan now handles like 80% of the M3!

So is the 4 wheel drive always engaged? Can you turn it off and it becomes real wheel drive?
@carsthatlast4416 жыл бұрын
It's primarily rear wheel drive, and when the rear starts to slip the front engage. I don't believe there is a way to turn off the AWD.
@RomanusOfficialTV6 жыл бұрын
It’s rear wheel drive biased, meaning that it’s RWD in normal drive, but there is a SNOW burton by the seat warmer controls to engage the AWD mode
@DoomFinger5115 жыл бұрын
@@RomanusOfficialTV The snow button just changes the gear shifts. The AWD acts the same in snow as on the road, only activating when the rear wheels slip. Even in the video you can see the rear wheels giving more power then the front.

how much did you pay for yours? i bought mine with 31k miles
@obtrunco6 жыл бұрын
I have to disagree. 1) not as fun to drive unless you have a manual, the automatic doesn’t know what gear to be in and the manual mode takes a full second to shift to the desired gear. 2) Interior doesn’t last. 3) Very heavy car 4) good power but low torque 5) Limited fun factor because of 1 & 3.
@IFPanama2 жыл бұрын
In my case, I am so happy that God gave me a Infiniti with the VQ37VHR engine. This engine sound is amazing, also it is reliable, durable, well known and fast. And the car itself has a great sound system and excellent quality materials and style for the price. All my cars have been from japan, and I like the fact that they share parts (as Infiniti with Nissan) and as my previous car, they are also easy to mantain. They are easy to sell, the next buyer knows he is buying a durable car. Everytime I drive this car with this engine VQ37, I enjoy it so much. 😍

Thanks for the info. I've been doing a mind-numbing amount of research and I've finally decided to purchase either an EX37 or G37x in the coming months depending on availability, mileage and $$$. These may actually be my perfect car when all is said and done, the EX37 has everything I want in a car, but I wouldn't be upset to wind up with a G series...
@carsthatlast4416 жыл бұрын
The EX37 would be nice if you are looking for a bit more room as it a crossover/SUV type of vehicle. The G37/Q40 does not have the biggest trunk space. There is enough room for groceries, but for bigger items it's my wife's Highlander. Both G37 and EX37 are similar and are a blast to drive. Good luck.

@carsthatlast4416 жыл бұрын
Hi Brooklyn, thanks for the question. The MKZ is a very nice car as well. I have not driven one so I cannot compare to the Q40. But they are fairly well rated, and I see older ones are now hitting the 200,000 mile mark which is a good sign. Sounds like you need to go test drive an MKZ. :-)

No downsides mentioned? I've heard the interior feels cheap. Is this true?
@delisgreat38216 жыл бұрын
The few downsides I've noticed are: 1. The interior does feel a bit cheap but not completely. The steering wheel tends to fade easily. 2. The front headroom is not so great and the seats could be a little bit wider. 3. Fuel economy in city traffic is bad depending on how u drive. It's great on the highway though. 4. No daytime running lights. But to me it's a nice car with excellent power and handling. Plus the maintenance is low.
@el34glo595 жыл бұрын
Disagree about the cheap interior but I guess it depends on the year. 2010s don't seem cheap at all to me
