You must be absolutely nuts. I have lived in Tulsa most of my life. And it is HALF of what you have just said. It is a beautiful vibrant city. People are SO nice. Yes, it has drugs, taxes, weather… but so does every American city. This video is really frustrating to watch. I laughed the whole time.

I've never heard of anyone experiencing a hard time finding a place to eat in Tulsa. It's just not true. Tulsa has the most restaurants per capita than any other town or city I've ever been to. The city is overly saturated with eateries with nearly an unlimited variety of concepts. Literally anything you could want to eat is in Tulsa.

People really aren’t that rude over here compared to other cities like NYC. Sure, there are some rude people here and there, but that’s literally everywhere. I love the ignorant ‘Tulsa has tornadoes but Okies are too dumb to have basements’ crap. Tulsa, and most of NE Oklahoma, sits on an extremely high water table. If you’re stupid enough to build a house on a ‘basement’ foundation there you’re going to be looking at three feet of stagnant stinking water filled with water moccasin snakes and brown recluse spiders under your house- having a fiesta on all that ‘salsa’ that I WISH existed in Tulsa but absolutely does NOT, unfortunately. I grew up in Tulsa and constantly visit my family and I've never even considered that we put salsa on everything. I really don't know where you are getting that from. We mostly serve chips and salsa at Mexican restaurants. Also, Tulsa is not full of seniors, to my knowledge. Where are you getting that information? There is a great mixture of people of all ages in Tulsa. I have literally never heard anyone say "turf war Tulsa", however the crime in Tulsa can be bad in some areas. However, no crime has EVER been done to me or anyone in my family over the last 30 years in any way. Not even a car broken into or a pickpocket or anything like that. I literally never even consider that something will happen to me when I'm in a nice area of Tulsa. Go to the Gathering Place, Utica Square, or most midtown, South Tulsa, or suburban areas and it is very safe. People from Tulsa are definitely not rude. Utterly ridiculous. People in Tulsa are mostly extremely nice. Nicer than nearly anywhere else in the country. "Oklahoma dirt roads." I haven't been on a dirt road in 10 years. We don't have dirt roads in Tulsa. Although, some of the roads need to be repaved. Also, while we have bad storms, it's still extremely unlikely that you will get a direct hit from a tornado.

I lived in Broken Arrow for over three years. However, I had to commute to downtown Tulsa every day for work. I loved living in Broken Arrow, and I enjoyed my time in Tulsa for the most part. The only problem I would consider a negative was that junkies came out at night in downtown Tulsa, and could be a huge nuisance. Especially in the summer times. There was this one lady who was definitely strung out on drugs that would always hassle me every day by saying her car was broken down at a Quick Trip, and she needed money for gas. Every day I would call her out on her hustle, and every day she would be so strung out that she forgot that she used that line on me the previous day. It would be funny if it weren't so sad. Unfortunately, that was a common occurence downtown.

Tulsa used to be a absolute wonderful place to live. In the past 30 years the city has really declined in my opinion. There used to be a great place to see live music until the Casinos ruined everything. The school system has really declined and the majority of people wish to enroll their children in the surrounding suburbs ( Jenks, BA, Owasso). The crime rate has also increased dramatically. However, Tulsa does have great places to eat and some really nice parks. The majority of the people are VERY polite and nice. (Good ole country folk), and the cost of living is really cheap compared to other cities. Tulsa has a great concert venue, so the world's best entertainers often tour thru Tulsa (BOK Center). People in NE Oklahoma love football and Tulsa has some of the best high school football in the nation. The job market is decent if you have an education or some type of training/skill; otherwise, wages are low. Unfortunately, there has been a history in Tulsa of some forms of racism which has made life difficult for Blacks, and now there are many more Hispanic citizens who live in Tulsa. Tulsa is very conservative and religion plays a role in both the social and political ideas of the people. Tulsa's biggest problem is the same as the entire state of Oklahoma- a lack of investment in the education system. Recent politicians have ignored this fact and do not realize that education is the cure to poverty, crime, and many of the problems the city faces. I was raised in the area and reside in Broken Arrow, a suburb of Tulsa. I have lived in 16 states in the western part of the country and have lived in many places that was worse- (Rock Springs, WY, Watertown, SD, Yuma, AZ) I guess, where your family and friends live and where you grew up as a child matters where you have fond memories of living. Overall, I would NOT choose to live in Tulsa these days and am sad to see such a great place decline the way it has in the past 3 decades.

Born in Tulsa, 60 years old now. As a kid in the sixties and seventies I didn’t see that much of Tulsa beyond my neighborhood and school. But I can tell you that it was the best time of my life. As an adult who travels for a living for my job (throughout the Midwest) I can tell you that Tulsa stacks up nicely compared to similar sized cities that I’ve spent time in. I find most cities that I’ve worked in from Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota and a few other areas, people are very kind and receptive to new people. Yes, Tulsa has a problem with gangs and drugs in several areas of town, but generally speaking Tulsa is one of the safest, most inviting and cultured cities you could hope to visit or live in. As for the salsa, we tend to enjoy it with tortilla chips. Never heard of anyone putting it on ice cream. We have a couple of successful ice cream brands in Oklahoma that don’t require such additives. People are nice, traffic is getting worse, but if you ever been to any other city of similar size that’s the way it be sometimes. Bottom line is that this reviewer clearly has not experienced Tulsa, or has a personal vendetta. A great day to all.

One thing I do find funny is all the BA,Bixby,Jenks,Owasso ect commenters talking about how they love or hate Tulsa......You live in the burbs! Tulsa is an okay place. It has a degree of crime but its not a war zone. I live in what we affectionally refer to as," Out North" or the Northside. Its the part the suburbanites warn you about visiting late at night. Here is a little secret. Its really quiet. Most crime happens in apartment complexes and hot spots like crowded convenience stores. There is a growing homeless problem. Jobs are just as you described. Housing values are cheap depending on where you buy. City is fairly conservative so if you lean blue, you will definatly hear and see some things you might take issue. There is crime but most violent crime is not random. Lots of stuff to downtown. Some nice people, some jerks too, Its like most cities i've been too.

Most of this video describes NORTH-WEST Tulsa. Everything south of 1st street and on the east side of the river is absolutely beautiful with great Art déco architecture, tons of nice bars and restaurants and VERY nice, friendly and also younger people! Beautiful parks with no drug dealers at all! Main reason being the biggest downer, the lack of public transportation. So the benefit is you don't have troublemakers hanging out everywhere. I loved it living and working there for two years as an expat from Germany and would have stayed longer if I had not my old parents in Germany whom I didn't want to leave behind forever. Btw, what a strange argument complaining about Salsa as if you don't need to order it and it doesn't replace any other part of the dish.

I was born in Tulsa as was my wife and lived around Tulsa for over 30 years, grew up in Mounds and finally lived in Sand Springs before we left for Wisconsin in 2018. That was the best decision we ever made. Jobs were the worst thing about living there, long commutes and low pay. That combined with increasing housing prices, it made having a stable living arrangement very expensive and unstable. Obviously drugs and poverty which leads to high crime. Weather is terrible for sure. I'm a native Oklahoman but it was never good for me there personally in my entire lifetime, and after the oil bust and housing crisis in '08, the few jobs available to the average person was far and few between. There was severe competition for minimum wage jobs from adults, not kids, who had lost their careers or couldn't afford to commute long distances for a terrible job. At one point I was driving over 40 miles one way to get to a job in Tulsa making $9.00 an hour. Every situation is different but avoid Tulsa and the Sand Springs area at all cost. Lots of poverty, low wages and lack of hope.

What is it with so many videos bashing American cities for having a poor public transportation system? If you do not live in New York City, Washington D. C. or a few other major cities on the East Coast, you should not expect to find good public transportation. Get a car! Yes, public transportation is great in Europe, Japan, and a few other places, but not in the U. S. Get over it!

This video is misrepresenting Tulsa. Should have known when SASLA make the top 10 list. Tulsa is a very warm communal place. Lived their for 8 years and would see people I knew all over town. It's also growing and drawing many young entrepreneurs and has a thriving art scene.

I live outside of Tulsa in Catoosa. I have lived in other small & large cities. I agree with about 50% of this. Drugs & crime are everywhere. But most of the people I have met in Tulsa have been courteous & friendly, & I have eaten a many restaurants that didn't have salsa. Mexican restaurants do have salsa, but many restaurants that don't serve Mexican dishes, don't have salsa on their meals ( unless of course, you ask for it)

I Like videos like this when people speak on something they don't know about.... I was born and raised in Brooklyn New York do you want a high cost of living and rude people come stay where I was born. I now live in northern Virginia where the cost of living is one of the highest in the US. She also talks about the pay how low it is, I find that hard to believe. I was recently offered a job paying a mid 6 digit Salary.

I'm at Tulsa right now. With all do respect, this city sucks a big deal. I traveled around at least 90 cities and towns recently and this one is handsdown the worst. Maybe it's just my experience though, many people say it's not that bad. For example, the lady at my hotel grew up here and she told me many good things about the city. You might wanna visit before you end up moving here.

I’d like to say the people who believe it’s nice are the ones who don’t get out of the house much or stay very close by. I’ve been out nearly every day for years here and this comment section is the only place I’ve seen people actually saying they like Tulsa. I like the highways and Utica Square along with some parts around cherry street, but that’s just the nice stuff. You really have to scratch around to find anything good. It’s really sad

Saw some people saying they’ve never seen a crime committed or heard of one, but I’ve seen plenty and if they ever turn on the news, someone’s getting shot here nearly every day or every other day lol. It’s forcing my family to move. I moved to Europe a few months ago. I can say that yes, these people are tough people that live in Tulsa. Carry a gun on you at all costs. I’ve had 4 people the past 5 years try bike jacking me. I’ve a lot of good friends there, these people will put their life on the line for you. That’s one thing I can say Tulsa’s good for. A lot of good people. Also, job wise there is a bunch of jobs and hiring events, etc. I’m getting several invitations a week. I promise you there’s thousands of jobs available and they’re making it noticed. There is bad weather, but it’s not to the point to where you can’t live or it affects you in a way you’re not going to survive. It’s just not hot all year round

@@Mikalrowley that's what I'm saying, the comment section is filled with people who say it's a decent place but I noticed that they're all live here or grew up here. I'm from Seattle were people aren't nice at all but they're still nicer than the people I had to deal with in Tulsa. Even the hotel people were rude af. But again, maybe it's just me! Other people might get other vibes and get better experiences.

This made me laugh. I've lived in Tulsa about 40 years. Most of this description seems alien to me. I've never heard or noticed that we love or are famous for salsa! LOL Tulsa is famous for Art Deco Architecture. There are lots of Bro Trucks and SUVs here. But it's also easier to find a place to charge an EV in Tulsa than anywhere in the nation. We also have great spaces to meet and enjoy like The Gathering Place, The Greenwood Cultural Center, Botanical Gardens, Guthrie Green, The Outsiders House. Tulsa is also celebrated for its musical heritage and The Tulsa Sound. Like Bob Wills, Leon Russell, Hanson Garth Brooks and many others, and places like The Church Recording Studio, Woody Guthrie Center, Bob Dylan Center. Many great places to eat and a diverse food selection, like Mother Road Market, {some with salsa I guess} You can catch a live show at the PAC or Spotlight Dinner Theater. Tulsa has its problems like everywhere. If I had to name one, it would be too many people walking dogs.

I've lived in California, Colorado, Maryland, Virginia and Tennessee. Theres some places worse in Maryland and also Washington DC. They have too many people and it's too many people around you not doing well financially. Also cities like Pueblo Colorado really have really rude people too but only locals are aware of there problem.

I just finished watching this. I’d like to say it was a tad biased. I dislike Tulsa a lot, I even moved because of multiple reasons. The salsa one and the rude people one are the only 2 I’m going to say are wrong. Some people weren’t taught manners growing up, but most of the people in Tulsa were. It’s pretty hard to find someone who won’t help you. These people always try to find a way to help. I can say that’s one thing I’m proud of there for. I’ve met a lot of good people and very caring as well that would put their life on the line to save yours. Now housing is correct. I live in Italy and it’s costing 320$ a month for a fully furnished apartment with garage and all bills included, along with a huge patio and I’m literally right on the beach. I’ve been looking at the prices of houses in Florida to rent and they’re pretty close to Tulsa. In reality it depends on what you’re wanting. If someone’s reading this and they’re wanting to move because they want cheaper living or better job opportunities, you should take your shot. Tulsa does have a warm welcoming feel to it and I’m more than happy to set you up with some new friends. If you’re looking for a relaxing place, slower lifestyle, and more of a big city type of place where you can walk all around, this isn’t it. It’s not safe in the city either, during the day or at night. Everyone here carries a gun on them. If they don’t, they’re oblivious to the reality in which Tulsa’s going through. Yes it does have rich history. Of course there are big downsides as well. If you’re wanting something safer, try Owasso or Jenks. They’ve been up in crime just a tad these past few months, but it could be personal. I will more than assure you that you will LOVE both of those places if you’re looking to settle down somewhere and still work in Tulsa. Thanks for the video. Like I said, a little biased and harsh on some of those views, but mostly summed it up. There are plenty of good people. I dont think anywhere else in the world you’ll find better, but that’s my opinion.

Guns don't commit crimes. People commit crimes. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Oklahoma is a constitutional carry state, which is very very good. That means you can carry a gun to protect yourself at all times as long as you aren't a felon. Felons carry guns anyway in every city in the USA. So if you are afraid of "guns" then you're a moron.
