Thank you for this…..absolutely brilliant Couple of missing candidates; Sweet Virginia, Dead Flowers, Faraway Eyes, Moonlight Mile RIP Charlie, what a loss and sadly the Stones’ days must now be considered over. What a phenomenon they have been. I was born a couple of weeks before their first gig and so they have been the defining band of my lifetime.

"As Tears Go By" is the first song I heard when I really started listening to the Stones. Of course I had already heard Satisfaction, You can't get..., Pain It Black, etc. But I felt in love with the Stones because of As Tears Go By. Such a beautiful song and chord progression.

There is one record where Brian even goes so far as to play the Oboe (dandelion) that's one hard instrument to go and play, the guy was incredibly talented

Charlie had, with a few ones, a special snare sound. Keith described it like longer like usual. For me, he hits the snare and caressed it at the same time, like a rocker and a jazzman, but simultaneously. Anyway, great video, Angie number one on an acoustic axe. RIP Charlie Watts

Sweet Black Angel, I Got The Blues. Keith Richards' acoustic guitar playing is massively underrated - and rarely has anyone played the songs as he recorded them. BTW we ought to remember that although Brian was a huge motivator and contributor in the early days, Mick and Keith were already playing together long before Brian appeared.

You know what made the ABB so good was the fact that Duane and Dicky had very different influences. For instance Duanes influences were Jazz Blues And of course rock and roll. While Dickys influences were Blue Grass and country. In fact when Dicky told Gregg about the new song he write ( Ramblin Man) he told Gregg it was a country song. Gregg responded man we could play The Star Spangled Banner and I"m damn sure it would sound like the ABB. And of course it was a big hit for the ABB.

Nice compliment to Mr. Watts who was a great husband and father by all accounts. What a nice way to exit this life with SO many fans and fellow musicians. Can only hope that he was one of the outcasts that shunned the evil thrust upon him.

@shers3382 жыл бұрын
Dead flowers is great but Townes van zant was the one who did it acoustically.
@honkytonkblues23232 жыл бұрын
@@shers338 the song was originally composed acoustically, specifically in California Joshua Tree park 69' (in a trip of Keith, Anita & Gram, theres Michael Moore some photos of this) from the interactions of Keith and Gram Parsons in acustic guitars who contributed with the knowledge of so many country licks played foreward. There are alternate takes only acoustic previus the final version. Also, Mick jagger in the recording plays acoustic standard and he plays acoustic too in live concerts from 1989 to this days.. Beside all this, its menorable the Mick Taylor solo on the song and the incredible solos on live recordings in the 70s (as the Marquee and many others)...
