Marvin Senior is, in a way, a lot of what my dad is to me and what I hope to be to my children one day. To watch that scene, brilliantly performed by Alyson Hannigan, is a moment of almost unbearable pain, not only for what it represents, but for the people Marshall and Marvin Senior are.

Unpopular opinion: The ending would've worked if the season hasn't revolved around Barney and Robin's wedding and cramming everything at the last few episodes. If they had just wrapped the wedding scenario at first half of the season then let the Ted/Robin relationship redevelop at second half, the ending wouldve been more acceptable
@sherlinomungan81406 жыл бұрын
Totally agreed two season for this much awaited wedding and ended up in divorce what the damn hell

Still would'e been hella annoying bc Barney/Robin and Ted/Tracy were made for each other. I would've been okay with Tracy's death but I just don't like Ted/Robin with/without development. But I guess if it was done properly could've been an acceptable ending
@razor71776 жыл бұрын
Edgar Jr Cristobal nah mate still wouldn't have worked. We saw for 9 years(seasons) how Robin treated Ted and what she did to Barney, its impossible to like the show if it went on as you described it.( just my opinion)
@flaviogiuliano98895 жыл бұрын
But less effective
@Narine3605 жыл бұрын
I always think about the interview with Alyson Hannigan (lilly) after the show finished and she said that there was so much more that they didn't put in like the funeral and little scenes of the gang there for Ted that she felt allowed you to truly mourn the loss. I think they expected another season where they could flush that out more but Jason Segel (Marshell )was done and didn't even want to do the last season so they were in crunch mode. The finale was not the best but I still loved it. It shows something that has always made me love this show and why it's my favorite, life is messy, and it doesn't always end up where you want it to. Alot of people's arguments that the whole show was about Ted getting to Tracy, we spend 8 season falling in love this woman and than Cristin Milioti (Tracy) actually pulled it off and lived up to the hype. Then they threw her in the garbage in the finale and shows Ted never loved her but the "deleted lunch scene himym" you can search on KZbin gives context that he did love her and wouldn't risk her or his family for Robin, and from what I gathered from writers and cast talking about it, after he loss her that Robin was there for him and that's how it got started up again.
@trinaq6 жыл бұрын
It's been 4 years since "HIMYM" finished, it seems that nobody will ever forget the ending in a hurry. Tracy was depicted as such a likable, quirky character, and the perfect match for Ted. After seeing both Ted and Tracy go through hard times, it was satisfactory to have them meet and fall for each other, only for the devastating blow of the ending! The best part of the finale was Barney meeting his baby daughter for the first time, which always makes me happy cry!
@Alexa-js2mu6 жыл бұрын
I agree! Tracy was such a likable character!
@sunisthachopra35836 жыл бұрын
I kinda wish that Barney had his daughter in like season 8 whilst wedding preparations were going on so that we'd still get that moment. Barney wouldn't get full time custody but would at least be able to see her at least twice in a month. Robin and Barney could've stayed married and just gone to couples therapy if they really needed to (but let's be honest, whole of season 9 basically was their couples therapy all they'd have to do would be stop travelling so much and only go like twice a year since Robin still had a great career). Tracy would've never died and other than Ted and Tracy meeting and getting married and all the Marshall and Lily stuff, nothing else in the finale would be canon.
@alexm54764 жыл бұрын
And the worst part of the finale was Tracy being killed of by the creators for some reason and Ted and Robin being forced together… Basically season 9 was a wedding stretched into 22 episodes and 2 about Ted and Tracy.. And that was sad cuz I loved Tracy she was by far the best character and they didn’t give her enough time. *Ted and Robin where forced together and you might say it had been 6 years since Tracy died but for us it was an episode and that is little time *Season 9 was for nothing (the wedding part) because Barney and Robin broke up.. the should have made the wedding 12 episodes maximum and the rest about Ted and Tracy. The whole season was rushed and the ending was bad but except that the show was really good

The most heartbreaking moment for me is Lily’s confession. When Lily and Ted are on the roof. @ecc71385 жыл бұрын
i dont know. to me, finding out robin can't have kids was probably the saddest moment ever. for as important as tracy is in the show, robin is much more. she never wanted kids and was always so sure of it, but as she says herself, it's another thing not to be able to have them. robin is presented as a determined character who knows what she wants in life, what are her plans for the future, her career, etc. and kids were never part of it. but realizing she won't have kids anyway literally breaks her, cause she still wants the possibility to choose whether having them or not, as we all do. tracy's death could have been the saddest moment ever, what with all the signs of her illness shown before the finale, but in the end it's so quick it's almost harmless, i think. robin's pain drags on throughout the rest of the show.
@tianalam61245 жыл бұрын

I grew up without a father. He was the devil himself. I did my ancestry test when I was older, and discovered that I had five other siblings on my dad's side. And he was a good dad to them. I feel that statement. If you were going to be a good dad, why couldn't you have been that for me?

That "I'm not ready for this" still gets me. I'm not an emotional person. I even tend to make people think that I'm unfeeling sometimes but that scene... Even watching it here made me tear up a little. I love this show.

Marshall and Lilly's fight about Marshall taking the job as a judge, in season 9, was also a very intense scene. It's even more heartbreaking knowing that it is, arguably, the ONE mistake Marshall makes, because he's such an amazing person, and yet it is the worst fight they have.

I’ll never forger how amazing the show was and how horrible the end was. Ted and Robin were never right for each other and despite writing them that way the writers still crammed them together at the very last. Robin and Barney were such a better match, they made the other grow and managed to change what really hurt the other one, and even worse they spent literally ONE WHOLE SEASON building them up with their wedding. I loved them so much.

Actually the writers wrote Ted and Robin to be a wonderful couple who brought out the best in each other but just weren't ready to be together. Barney and Robin were toxic, dysfunctional and doomed to fail. True story. 😎

Robin and Barney had zero chemistry, and that is just a fact. What do people see in those two.

10:20 Ted saying "there's one thing that your aunt robin never was, alone..." Actually robin was alone, right after breaking up with barney in 2016 she was alone, she actually didn't see her friends for like 14years. Thats the saddest thing of all. Think about it marshall and lily were together with their three kids Ted was with tracy and their two kids Barney was hurt but he actually had his daughter What about Robin? She was all alone, she may had career, but she didn't have love :(.

Nothing will ever compare to the disappointment of the finale Some shows may have meh last seasons but at least they have great finales (Friends, The Office, Parks and Rec)

JST Stuff and goods I would’ve liked the Parks and Recreation ending a little better if Ann and Chris returned to the present day part of the finale.

The finale was the saddest for me. I was loving the show and the finale ruined it. It's pretty clear that Ted and Robin will never work.

Everyone says that but it's like know one even watches the show. all Barney did was lie so why do people say Ted and Robin would never work when u ship a couple like Robin and Barney. i never understood that. Their whole relationship was built on a lie. The way u people think is really confusing.
