Appreciate your recap of the latest HA sales! I especially liked you showing stats on prior sales or identifying how the same slabbed did since it last sold. I can't ever imagine bidding on any of these high-end books, let alone knowing I lost thousands selling it later.😮

My guess would be that people who have this amount of cash to buy these caliber of books know much less than most of us in the comic community.

The sales for 6 or 7 figure books don’t reflect the entire market as you know. The rest of the market is declining per your data. Multi millionaires aren’t affected by the economy.

This should be obvious, yet few on YT (well, the dealers) seem willing to admit it.

And I believe the millionaire collectors who made their money in the boom are now spending their profits on the big books today.

I've been watching and bidding in the MyComicShop January auction, which is like the Blue Collar Heritage. Prices have been higher than Nov/Dec sales across the board, whether it's run fillers, key issues, Golden age, Silver age, or (today) Bronze. I'm willing to make the call--we've passed the market bottom and prices are finally ticking back up (a little)

I think it is people that have nothing better to do with their money..... ridiculous

The crazy thing is how many sleeper books are out there. We're getting new info about James Gunn's DCU almost weekly and practically nobody is taking advantage of some very cheap keys.

To hell with Heritage...this has no actual bearing on the real secondary market that 98% of collectors deal in day in and day out.

I would argue that all these comics are only desirable from an investor perspective. All the readers I know, if they had $45,000 to spend on comics, would not buy a slabbed Incredible Hulk #181, they (and I) would fill holes in the PC and buy runs of series they hadn't tried but were interested in reading. There are plenty of reprints of Wolverine's first appearance for anyone who really wants to read it.

From Heritage Auctions Terms and Conditions: 21. "From time to time, the Auctioneer, its affiliates, or their employees may consign items to be sold in the Auction. 22. From time to time, the Auctioneer, its affiliates, or their employees may place bids on lots in the Auction." So these books were going to hit those premium amounts one way or another!

If the auction house relists books from previous auctions, how would you even know if the book actually traded hands and didn't just stay at heritage for the next auction. More than likely the sell from the previous auction had a unknown reserve with heritage and if it doesn't sell past that it stays there forbthe next auction. With bigger books sellers aren't going to just eat 15k just because.

Hey what’s up this is Bob in Connecticut you do know that the fantastic four 48 9.6 and 9.8 they definitely sell for much more in comparison to hulk 181, 9.6 or 9.8.. well I made a big mistake I could have gotten the fantastic four 48 9.8 very cheap when I got my 9.6 for $3600 on eBay . It’s like what my friends say there is never a good time to really sell your books. It will come back and bite you in the ass..

Lots of the "keys" from the 1970s and on are far from rare. Back then, everyone was buying and reading comics. No one buys and reads comics today other than a small (and getting smaller) group of diehards. It's over.

C'mon, Mick The phrase you're looking for is "defied expectations"... Like quite a few other recent economic indicators. Just say it. It's okay.

Hyperbole, but the overall market will continue its decline (the uber rich don't really count)
