I wonder how many winning bidders also pay sales tax, but that doesn't get figured into the final published price. That could add a significant amount to high priced comics.

stay away from my 9.8 grails!!

I was able to remove black color touch on an Amazing Fantasy, it was also a C2 but like you said it was done with sharpie so I had to scrape it off and it definitely hurt the visual appeal. Also that sensation no.1 is just asking to get cracked with all that staining mostly sitting in the white.

I wonder how people can feel 100% confidence in the grade of these extremely high priced books.
@AutomaticComics11 ай бұрын
Because you need donor books for the scam. You also need books that aren’t going to stick out. While the scam thing is a big deal, IMO it’s not as big of a deal as some people make it out to be (with respect to number or impacted books). For certain books, sure, be careful. But for most books, it is of little to no consequence.

Hey Ryan, what’s going on this is Bob in Connecticut to be honest with you hulk 181 9.8 sold for $146,000 Comic Link the end of 2022 I believe?? yes, that was the definite price. What’s amazing is normally fantastic four 48 9.6 usually sells for more than hulk 181 8.6 and fantastic four 48 9.8 usually sells for more than hulk 181, 9.8 recently..

It’s weird how color strike is a thing because in coins a bad strike that makes it in circulation is worth more

I have my bids in for the first auction. Which one's are you interested in? Maybe one or two in the second? I don't feel we will see records.
@AutomaticComics11 ай бұрын
From my experience, there are always records. I’m sure there will be plenty in this auction considering the rarity of many of the books in grade. But I don’t think everything is going to set a record either. I’m not currently planning to bid on anything. Still recovering from that Black Cat 50 I bought =)

Looks like some big players are getting out of the comic market. I've sold 90% of my collection over the past 2 years... Glad I got out when I did

You would think with the CGC debacle, the CBCS X-Men would be going for the same or more.
@michaeltan420411 ай бұрын
The GSX 1 CGC looks way better bright colors and the background white is really white.

Hey Ryan, do you think it's an advantage or disadvantage to have the same book being auctioned back to back with the same grade? For the seller mostly.
@AutomaticComics11 ай бұрын
I don’t think it makes much of a difference. I’ve seen the second book go for more and for less.
@SwarmofComics11 ай бұрын
@@AutomaticComics interesting! I thought it could go either way. People who missed out on the first one might flock to the second. Or, if there are two books people could bid low knowing they have a shot at the second, and bring down the value of both. Anyway, thanks for the reply, cheers!

H.H. With there BP charge is totally B.S.!!! GSX (cgc) sold for 22K.

I’m wondering why people want to auction these books in such a down market. They’re taking a big risk! Maybe they bought these books years ago for much less, or maybe they need the money. Unless I needle the money, I’d wait. It is a great buying opportunity though!

the big boy book are doing well. I'm talking the low census 9.8 key 1st apps. I'd say those are safest items to collect across many hobbies. I've done OK

Fun list to go through. I’m waiting to see what those potential million dollar books finally settle on. I have my FF48 but would love to upgrade!
@AutomaticComics11 ай бұрын
I think there’s a misconception that it’s a down market. For a lot of books, especially books at this level, it’s not a down market. You have to consider the income level of people bidding on these kinds of books. They couldn’t care less about gas or groceries costing a little more. That’s not impacting their spending. The stock market is near an all time high as well. High net worth individuals are going to be disproportionately invested in things like stocks compared to the average person. They’re doing fine.
@preemptivepmp11 ай бұрын
@@AutomaticComics agreed. There are folks out there that must invest properly to get returns, because of inflation and because of risky multiples in the stock market, they have to manage that wealth and dodge property taxes. I'd buy a 1st Thanos, Punisher, Wolverine, etc. at 9.8 over a second property at current rates, (taxes, fees, insurance) especially if I can buy the comics tax exempt with the hope of reselling later.
@thomaspalmer645311 ай бұрын
The little people us who can't afford these books are stuck with the books that are plummeting in value like ASM #129, Batman #181, and just about every other key book in 8.0 or below. These books are the garbage of the market.
