I remember a time about 2 years ago when there had been a pounding on my door. I live in an old house with weak windows... so i heard glass shadder, me being mr. Cool, i have 7 pocket knifes. I know how to walk down my stairs without any sound. So i grabbed my biggest knife and went down, and peeked. I saw someone in my kitchen, so I snuck in my fathers room and grabbed his 9mm. I grabbed it and the clip, and walked in the hallway. I loaded the gun as loud as i can and walked down the stairs medium paced. By that time i knew they were frightened, as they were scurring. Knowing my dad he puts blank rounds in the mag beside it, so i fired a shot in their direction. They had dropped my mothers laptop, a few kitchen knifes, and my nieces tablet. And boy did they run, my neighbors heard all of it, ran outside and was able to tackle the dude. His wife called the police, and the man was arrested.

A few years ago I was babysitting my goddaughter and I just put her to bed and I hear a ladder some time later luckily I had two huskyes and I told one to guard that room window and I go out with my shot gun catch a guy on my ladder trying to get in that window and couldn't of timed it better but dog 1 just flipped at him and he didn't know dog 2 and I were at the bottom so dog 2 scared him up dog 1 scared him down taken all within the span of a few seconds with the guy having the most girly high pitched scream the only thing I said was you can stay right there till the police come or risk becoming a chew toy

I have one. We have a really good alarm system and I was home alone with my dog Bailey who was upstairs in her cage. Then I heard something bang up the side of my house. Then my dog started to bark and growl. I ignored it thinking maybe a bird hit the window. They my alarm started to go off. I went to the device and shut the alarm off. I went around the house with a knife opening every door and looking under every bed. I found nothing. I went in my room then I saw my window screen taken out with my window half-way open. I looked out in my backyard looking at my woods behind my house and I saw someone running with a ladder in the woods.

This was around December of 2017. One time my mom had forgotten to close the garage before leaving the house to cole pick us up from school (us being me and my two younger sisters) We get home and realized the garage was open and she closes it once we are all inside. Once we all get inside, me and my mom go upstairs to wrap presents. After about maybe 15 - 20 minutes we hear the garage door opening. I think "maybe my step dad is home", but nope. We head downstairs and we see the garage open, but we dont see my step dad's truck... I couldn't sleep that night... (Note: my mom's very expensive camera was on the kitchen counter. The door leading into the garage was right next to the kitchen...) Luckily nothing was stolen

One home intruder story of mine happened on the first day of summer vacation. I had been awake for about a half an hour before this happened, and at probably 4:30 a.m., the rest of my family was awoken to a large crash downstairs. When this happened, I was in shock. So much in shock, that the first thought of mine was that it was an explosion. My dad ran into my room, thinking that I had fallen out of bed. Seeing that I hadn’t, his next idea was that our kitten, Mimi, had knocks something down. So, we all rushed downstairs, still thinking that this was the explanation. But, in fact, it was not at all. In fact, Mimi was asleep. We are lucky, because about one minute afterwards, it happened again. Someone was trying to break through our front door! So, my dad turned on all the lights, and ordered my mom and I upstairs. Then, he called the police. Also, there was a teenage boy in a car who was driving around our neighborhood. He told my dad that he had just dropped off his girlfriend, Angelina, and had apparently also just got off of work. Two things were off about this. One, why would he be dropping off his girlfriend when he had just got off work? And two, THERE IS NO ANGELINA IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD! About ten minutes after this happened, my mom found that what had happened to us had also happened to others. 5 TEENAGE BOYS IN A CAR DROVE AROUND NEIGHBORHOODS AND PRETENDED TO BREAK IN! At least we knew that it wasn’t a real break in, but that still scared us. After that, I couldn’t fall asleep for anything.

I have a pretty spooky one from earlier this year. My sister and I were home alone. I was in my room doing animation when my sister came in, panicked, saying the door to our garage had been slammed open by someone and that there was someone in the house. I went into the living room with her, and she tried to get into contact with our parents while I called 911. The genius operator tried to get me to check in the garage to see if the intruder was still there while we waited for police. I refused but grabbed a large kitchen knife just in case. Here's the weird part. When the police got here, they checked the garage and couldn't find any sign of forced entry but someone had beed meeeing with the lock on the door. Our house had been featured in our small town's local newspaper as a historic haunted sight so after searching our yard for signs of a burglar, they actually ended up chalking it up to a ghost slamming in the door. To this day, that's the best explanation we have of the incodent, but I still sleep with my folding knife within reach of my bed.

I used to live in the middle of no where and had someone walk into my house in the middle of the night. My dog heard something and I opened my bedroom door to see a man walking down my hallway. My dog (who is usually very sweet) chased the man out and into the woods. He came back about an hour later perfectly fine and I never saw the man again

My dog Capone lived up to his name. 4 people, 3 dogs, and several birds and rabbits later- I finally had to find a new home for him. He was so very protective of me and my kids. I was afraid animal control would try to put him down. Once when police came for a domestic dispute for my roommate. They asked were there any weapons in the home; I told them no, but I do have a dog. They laughed at me. And entered my apt looking around for my roommate. Capone was in the kitchen, only barricaded in by a baby gate. He was barking and salivating crazily... the police threatened to shoot him. I told them I would put him in my room or hold him outside. We were of no harm. I got Capone on his leash and he lunged for one of the officers as we passed by. He barely missed the man's face. The cop drew his gun. I ran outside with my dog. When the police left, and we went back inside, Capone ran around frantically sniffing and looking for the policemen.

My current home has never been intruded. But one of my old ones were. Me and my brothers were all ages 5 and below. We lived near Granbury in Texas. My dad would go to work a week in Grapevine on an oil rig. There was a day during one of his working days and my brothers and mother were in our living room watching TV. We lived down the road from this really mean tall white man that despised us. On the morning of that day, out of nowhere, there was loud and harsh banging on the door. And there is a difference in banging and knocking on the door, this was the day I learned that and never forget. My mother quickly saw through the translucent glass and could tell it was the mean guy. She quickly grabbed all of us kids and went to her room, far from the front door, and she locked us in. She quickly called my dad, and he was luckily allowed to come to our home to stop the tragedy. It took hours for him to come because Grapevine was about 45 minutes from Granbury and it took a while for my dad to pack up. But that guy won’t go away. He spent hours of nonstop banging. Every time we thought he left, bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang , really really loud. Until it stopped for a bit and my dad called my mom and told her it was safe. We ended up moving to Breckenridge, TX, a smaller town just because that we have close family in Breckenridge and that we’ll have a higher chance of that happening again if we still lived in Granbury. My mom still dreads to this day, even though it’s been about 11 years, what would have happened to us all of she would’ve opened the door.

2 days ago while I was at work my mom brother and uncle were sitting around watching tv. It was around 10:00 pm when 2 guys with asked walked right in. They had masks on. One had a knife while the other had a crow bar. They were looking for drugs and weapons. They asked my mom if there were any guns around and where were the drugs. My mom started screaming it must have scared them because after that they took off. No one was hurt but was scary. My mom called me at work told me what happened. She was barely able to talk when she was explaining what had happened. Still shook up about it.

When I was working the midnight shift. I bought a Mossberg short barrel tactical 12 ga pump action shotgun with a pistol grip. That gave my wife a sense of security when home alone. Since she knew how to use it if someone broke in our house at night. Fortunately, she never had to use it.

Kind of a long one: Something similar to number 2 (I think) happened to my family. I think I was a freshman in high school at the time. It was right after Christmas and we had just gotten an Xbox 360 as a family gift. My dad is a firefighter so he worked 24 hour shifts at the time and didn't get off until 630am. He was at work this night. Some details about our house: the family room with the TV and new xbox were in the back of the house. My room was the only bedroom downstairs, and it was at the front corner of the house. My parents bedroom and 2 little brothers' bedroom were both upstairs. I woke up to our Rottweiler and chihuahua barking inside the house very loud and agressively around 2 or 3 am. Almost immediately after that I heard our chain link fence rattle and our gate slam and by now the barks were coming from outside. (We didn't have a doggy door.) I looked out my bedroom window and saw 2 men running away from our house. I ran upstairs as fast as I could and woke my mom up and told her what was going on. She pulled me into my brothers room, made sure they were okay, called 911, and then called my dad to come home. My dad and the cops got there about the same time. After the cops went through the house and yard to make sure no one was still there, my parents went to figure out if anything was taken for the police report. It turns out they took the Xbox but didn't have time to get the cords or anything else since the dogs heard them and started barking. (Our entertainment center was one my dad had built where the cords went through the holes in the back.) The cops noted that our window in the back room was open and the bars on the window were off, so that was how they got in and out. They also realized there was a big paw print on the couch that sat about 3 feet in front of the window, and some blood on the window sill. We figured out that our Rottweiler had not only got ahold of one of them and chased them out of the house, but also jumped over the couch and through the window to chase them out of the yard. (Go Lexi!) She knew not to leave the yard though so she had stopped at the gate. The cops got my statement since I was the only one that had seen the guys, and they left. By this time it was probably about 2 hours after I had woken up so about 4 or 5 am. We were talking about everything and how lucky we were that they were only there to steal our stuff. Our Rottie was at the back corner of our fence barking aggressively, and when my dad called her to come inside she looked back at him and barked before barking at the corner again. My dad knew something was off so he went with a flashlight to check it out. There was space between our fence and our back neighbors fences. As it turned out, one of the guys had left his jacket and outside by our shed (the cops had missed this) and came back to get it after he figured we would go back to sleep while his accomplice took the Xbox back to their house. He was laying face down on the other side of the fence in a black hoodie with his hood up hoping he wouldn't be seen, but my dad saw him, jumped over the fence, grabbed him by his Hoodie, and dragged him to the front yard while yelling for my mom to call the cops to come back. Our Rottie followed along the fence all the way to the front and waited at the gate watching. My dad held the guy on the ground until the cops got back. In the end the cops found out where he lived and we got our xbox back. It turned out they had cased our house (and others) a few days earlier, saw our big tv, and had loosened the bars that were over the window to make it easier to get in when they came back.

I have one scary/funny intruder story. It happened to my mother before I was born. It was the 1930's and my mom and dad were newlyweds. They rented an apartment in a multistory building in Kansas City, MO. They were above the ground floor and there was a large window with a fire escape outside. My dad worked the night shift at a local factory. There had been a serial rapist in the city, and one night my mother was awakened by the sound of scraping at the window. She saw the dark figure of a man prying the window open. My dad owned a .38 Special revolver, and kept it loaded in the nightstand. My mother had never fired a gun, and was terrified of them , and had refused to let my dad teach her to shoot. That night she grabbed the gun and heal it out infront of her as far as she could hold it, and pointed it in the general direction of the intruder still pry the window. She closed her eyes and turned her head to one side. When she heard the window lock snap and the window start to slide open, she pulled the trigger. She said the sound was deafening, and when she looked at the window, the intruder was gone. She ran down the hall to a pay phone, and had to borrow a nickel from a neighbor. She called the police, and when they came, they found blood spatters on the window frame and fire escape, so it seemed that she had miraculously hit him. The cops congratulated her on her marksmanship, LOL, considering that her eyes were closed and her head turned. They never found the intruder, no bodies showed up, and nobody showed up at the local hospitals with a gunshot wound.

We once got robbed in our old house when I was little. It was because my auntie had left the window open that night, my mom was also working night shifts that night. We got robbed out of almost everything valuable: car (took the keys and drove off), laptop, TV etc. Luckily me, my dad and few month old brother were all asleep at that time, my mum still recalls it and how she can't imagine on what could've happened if we were awake
