I wouldn't have used those words myself, but you have to agree that there was a dramatic tone shift in tone as the series went on. The first season is full of hi-jinks and funny moments as these two try and start up a meth operation, peppered with more somber and serious beats, but those tended to be the exception, not the rule. However, as it goes on, the roles reverse and Breaking Bad becomes a much more serious drama with only wiggle room for some elements of humor.

Gus' death wasn't the most shocking, but it's my favorite scene in the whole show and it may even be my favorite scene amongst any TV show ever. The way Walter baited Gus into a trap and the fact he convinced Hector to suicide bomb himself is just genius. Incredible writing by Vince Gilligan. Not to mention the way it was shot was perfect. Hector never looked Gus in the eye, then he finally does and his face goes from sad to pure anger. Then Hector starts ringing his bell and we notice the bell doesn't sound like it usually does. The camera slowly pans to the bomb that is connected to Hector's bell. I don't see how this scene could've been written any better.

You guys really didn’t put Andrea’s death on this list?
@theoriginaledi5 жыл бұрын
Wow, I rarely disagree THIS strongly with a list. To me, "shocking" means both horrifying and (crucially) we didn't see it coming. What that in mind, here's what I think: Honorable mention: The two dudes Walt hit with his car - Completely out of the blue AND cold-blooded The inmates - The way it was done was amazing & horrific but we didn't really know them so it didn't feel quite as shocking Spooge - What. The Frick. If he'd been more than a very minor character this would rank high for me. Utterly shocking. 10 Hank - Super terrible, yes, but you said yourselves we saw it coming a mile away. 9 Gale - Also pretty predictable, but the way it happened was horrific. Poor Jesse. :-( 8 Krazy 8 - Shocking because it was the first time we saw what Walt was capable of but not as horrific as some others. 7 Jane - Soooooo sad (again: Poor Jesse...) but relatively low because it was less unexpected than others. 6 Andrea - Just as horrible as Jane (and even more, really, because she had a kid), but WAY more unexpected. 5 Combo - Who expected (esp. that early in the series) a grown man to be killed by a kid?! Horrifying! 4 Mike - Deeply sad AND entirely unexpected. 3 Victor - Complete surprise AND horrifying in terms of all that blood. 2 Gus (and Hector) - I mean, if I have to explain this one, you need to re-watch the series. :-) 1 Drew Sharp - By far the single most surprising AND most horrifying death of the entire series for me. Stupid Todd. Ugh. YMMV, obviously. :-)

For me it was shocking... some part of me and Iam sure for many people as well hoped that Hank will get out of this situation, But he doesn't so obviously the moment where Jack shoots Hank was really shocking to me

Really? Unexpected? You couldn't guess her death from the photo that was sticked up on the wall? But yeah they should've included that in the list. I mean it teared jesse apart from the inside

I think combo’s death should be ranked in the top 10. Jessie’s drug dealing operation was only 4 people. A small group of guys and one of them gets shot dead by A little kid. That death always hits me hard

9:49 Walt doesn't whistle while dissolving Drew's body in acid, he whistles after telling Jesse (hurt by Drew's death) to go rest and that he was also saddened by Drew's death.

People may not like season 1 as much as the other seasons, but I’ve always found that i enjoyed it as much as the other seasons. Krazy 8 and Walt’s conversation before he died was one of my favorite scenes in the show, and Tuco beating the piss out of his guard guy will always be a classic scene in breaking bad. And I do I even have to mention the “This is not meth” scene....

Out of all the deaths Hanks stuck with me the most. And now on my rewatch of the series it’s hitting even harder and I can’t stand Walter. For years I remembered the quote “Your the smartest man I know, but your too stupid to realize, he’s already made up his mind” it’s not word for word but that’s how I remember it. Crazy show and I love the characters were supposed to hate and hate those were supposed to love! I’ve never had this dynamic in a show before. This is really deserving of the “Greatest Show on TV” name it got. Fucking amazing and I can’t wait to start BCS & El Camino.

Mother loving Gus’ death will always get to me. This guy to me was like the friggin’ terminator every time there was an attempt to on his life. When Gus came out of that room out after the explosion, I said: “WTF is it going to take to kill this guy?!” Saw his face destroyed then him die and said: “That was so awesome!!!”
