I may be the only weird one here but I remember buying my first sling and getting a Patagonia, as I did my research further, I found that fishing slings are by far the best looking and most versatile sling for hike and travel, I bought (3) of them because they are so useful, Simms, Fishpond and Patagonia old model.

tomtoc Shoulder Bag for Nintendo Switch > anything by Bellroy. 1/3 the price of the Bellroy in the regular sales, and available in a nicer Khaki colour. Montbell and Domke also make nice small shoulder / sling bags. And please for the love of God choose something that's not black or grey.

I first bought the Alpaca Mini Tech Bag - Did not find the "perfect" place to stand up my iPhone Pro upright & my iPad mini fit a little to snug I returned it & got the Tech Bag (mid size). I have been using it for 3 months while traveling in my Van Conversion in the Southwest. Now I have the "right" place for the most used stuff ( phone - wallet - keys - AirPods - lip balm). Every other EDC (and there is a sh*t ton that actually fits) They all found their place -- eventually! Having a pen in the loop impedes using the pockets below it - so I don't use it to hold my pen or anything for that matter. You get used to reaching for the side grab handle or at times just man handling it by the top. I exclusively carry it a sling bag (on hikes, shoping & bicycle rides) and have no interest in the accessory strap to stablize it. Since you access the bag as a sling while you are wearing it from the back a Pro Tip would be to always access the bag from the back - that way with muscle & brain memory it facilities locating what's in the bag - For me "often' without having to even look - For Real Son... The ability to stand it up is so nice as the mini did not stand up on its own & that was a PITA. So - daily use for 3 months I am very happy with the bag. The bigger one would only oblige me to add more stuff in it. - so I'll stick with this ohe. BTW fully loaded the bag weighs 5 lbs 9 oz & appears to manage it just fine!!!

Bought a Bellroy for about $100 then saw the Tomtoc for $30. Tried them both and loved the Tomtoc more so I returned the overpriced Belroy. The Tomtoc is made of good solid materials. The draw back of the Tomtoc is you can’t wear it as a fanny pack when you need to but you can’t beat $30.

Not too many guys want to carry purses, though. And the kind of carrier that slightly resembles a purse for men I think they rather call it a satchel or a messenger bag. But comparing a sling to a purse is like comparing hiking boots to high heels- they're both shoes.

I was thinking of getting myself a small sling. Not used to wearing one and not sure about them but think they be good for Holidays/Vacations and Day Trips and excursions. I like the Small Bellroy One here as I have a few minimal Bellroy Products now including Tech Pouch, Dopp Kit, Key Holder and several minimal wallets aswell as an iClip Wallet. So I don’t think I need it to carry much possibly sone sun screen and wallet, Phone and maybe a small bottle of water on Holiday. I also like the Lulumon, Osprey and the Votipaxi is a decent size although not sure about that flimsy pocket at the front of it. I think the Bellroy could be the best all rounder for me although tge Osprey is kind of like a mini backpack so could be more Versatile. 🎒😎👍🏼

I love the idea of a sling bag, but the security on most is very much lacking. Which is very disappointing. You put a lot of personal information and important items in the pockets and then put it on your back without being able to lock it and/or there being any slash protection. The only “security they offer is a back pocket that rests against your body.” Which is negated when the bag is cut off your person. Or the bag is hidden under your clothes and you can’t get to it when shopping anyway. There are only two brands, that I know of that offer slash proof, locking zippers and RFDI blocking and they are Travelon and Pacsafe. And most travel KZbin videos only recommend Pacsafe. I don’t have around $100 or more to spend on a sling. That goes towards my trip.
