Why do I get triggered by these 0101010101 comments. It was alot of riffs in ST/IOWA. Outside those albums they went pretty far beyond that. And it was essencially Slipknots version of Metallicas chugs.

Whether you like it or not slipknot is nu metal, nu metal is metal that came out during the late 90s and early 2000s. As much as I love slipknot, they still fall into the nu metal genre. The vast majority who don't like AHiG in general is because they went from the Stone Sour influence on Vol 3 which brought in a lot of radio rock listeners to a more melodic yet Iowa esque album and it was too heavy for them. Some songs really bring the death metal influence hard. Songs like Gehenna remind me of the ST era.. dark and creepy vibes, like Purity or Iowa (the song). IMHO, was the last great album...
