I came across this site recently. I`m 69 years old, and you have re-ignited an interest in classic rock tunes. Time to pull out my 67 Gibson SG and relive the enjoyment of yesteryear! Subscribed from Ontario Canada.

Just stumbled up this video and have to say that beyond the simple demonstration of progressions used in these classics, the most important element in every one of them is the ability to weave melody around these simple structures. Music does not have to be complicated to be great. In fact, it is often quite the opposite. I wish people these days spent more time on melody and far less time trying to impress their friends with shredding.

These bring back a lot of memories. One small point: the Paranoid intro is played with the low E string open. Toni did this often to get a fatter sound because there was no other guitar to fill that role.

Paranoid by Black Sabbath was my main inspiration to start learning guitar. A guitarist played it at a school talent show and I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. Thanks Andy.

I think your video is fantastic for beginners. It gives them confidence to keep at it.many people are so intimidated by the big picture.once you can play easy , clean chords,they realize you don't have to go up against blackmore, or clapton ,It sounds good and it's fun! Most rock groups don't use many chords,as this video demonstrates When you increase your confidence , you can learn the links played in the solos.Not everyone can be famous,or it wouldn't be difficult! Most people that can play creatively on solos have played a minimum of 8 years of daily learning. I got signed at 18,quit high school and never looked back. I am 71 and still play my 81 les paul or my new sg!!!

The Eagles? Any of their songs, they ROCK!!!
@zingbopdelux8 ай бұрын
The trouble with illustrating Eagle’s, songs is copyright! … they not only want your first born, but their lawyers will actually come to your home and steal away your 2nd and 3rd born too! … they are ruthless, and so will you be, if you have a daughter named Ruth!😂
@housevo3305 ай бұрын
@@zingbopdeluxEagles are my favorite band of all time, and looking back at it they're actually what got me into 70s and eventually 60s music which led to me getting a guitar. But yeah... don't cover Eagles songs on KZbin. Don Henley will probably pay off the FBI to raid your house. One day you'll wake up and see dozens of jacked men in white vans surround your house 😂

Let's see you play Harry Chapin! Not just 'Cat's In The Cradle' because musically, it's probably his easiest song. Chapin used some crazy chords. He was an incredibly underrated singer / songwriter.

You could have made this whole video on the Velvet Underground. They made their career on 3 and 4 chord songs. It's not about being complicated, it's how you play it!
@kirkbolas4985 Жыл бұрын
Hey Andy…there’s one you could’ve added to the list that has both acoustic and electric parts and I believe there’s just four chords….Boston, “More Than a Feeling”…or Skynyrd’s, “Sweet Home Alabama”. Oh and lest I forget, ZZ Top’s, “La Grange”.

The most authentic Highway to Hell transcription I've heard was in Guitarist or Total guitar back in the '90's. A5, D5/F# then transpose up a couple of frets and back. It's the same chords as Hammer to Fall by Queen.

Hey Andy, glad the KZbin algorithms lead me to your channel. I thumbs up and subscribe. I think mother and Child Reunion by Paul Simon might fall into that category. I guess it might depend on the way you play it. I was a teenager in the 70s so I’m old. But I clearly remember trying to play fins by Jimmy Buffett and the first part sounded like the first verse of mother and Child Reunion. So I switched and learned to play mother and child reunion instead… One of the first songs I figured out without looking at any music. Nice work, Andy cannot wait to check out some of your other videos.

Add 3 guitarists, 2 of whom know how to do the solos correctly, or don't bother, oh yeah, and one needs to be really good on slide, that 3rd guitarist and the bass player need to know all the rhythmic changes. This post by the organisation against bad covers.

Cool video, but I feel that I have to point out that your timing and your tempo varied a bit... I hate to be "that guy" but I feel it's worth mentioning considering that a lot of the people who will be learning from this will be beginners... I don't know about you, but one of the biggest struggles for my students was timing and variations/fluctuations in tempo... I figured it'd be a good idea to make a point of letting your students/ viewers know that they should pay close attention to timing and rhythm. Other than that the video was great. You're likable and you have a good vibe, and easy-going style of teaching.
