I've always like Blink of an Eye: it is the one where time travels faster on a planet and voyager gets stuck on something. Then becomes part of their culture. And it has Jin in it ;).

I can't believe the lack of love for the episode Course: Oblivion. It's one of the saddest and most disturbing episodes in all of Trek in my opinion. The entire team is slowly dying, the ship is falling apart, it's completely hopeless, and there's no "save the day" ending. Spoiler alert, everyone actually dies one by one, for good. It's heart wrenching.

Hated the Little Aliens and their chiming with the PADDS. If I there, I would have shoved them down their throats then spaced them. Otherwise, pretty cool episode. It's just a shame with all series, they could have something cool, but something else equally as annoying to counter it. Just Like having two stories in one episode, I could hate one and like the other. (You know main and Sub-plot).

Latent Image is one of my favourite episodes of Star Trek ever. It reflects on the nature of grief and gives us more insight into what it means to be an artificial lifeform when it comes to very human experiences like loss. Picardo is excellent as always as he makes the slow discovery that all is not what it seems, and the way the episode switches up from unlikely conspiracy to unfortunate tragedy is Voyager at its best.
@Litintha
@Litintha 7 жыл бұрын
Latent image was a good one. And, a lot of the doctor focused episodes could have been very different if Robert has not gotten the part. Originally, he went in and auditioned for the role of Neelix. He did the audition and that night, his agent said it wasn't going to work out, but the EMH role was still open. So, he went in and read his part. And, with what I think was the moment he cemented his place in the role, at the end of his audition, he turned to the casting directors and ad-libbed his own version that famous Star Trek line: "I'm a doctor, not a night light." He then got the part hours later.

Instead of one of the ridiculous holo-novel episodes on your list, you should have added Season 6 episode 12 titled "Blink of an Eye"" where the ship gets stuck in geosynchronous orbit around a planet that rotates 58 times per minute and causes earthquakes on the surface. Time on the planet passes much faster than on the ship making for one of my favorite all time episodes of Star Trek (Also because the Doctor plays a pivotal role) Still a good list though, Thanks!

Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy was great because Bob Picardo really shows off some of his skill as an actor, and episodes focused on the Doctor are usually really well done. I also loved Imperfection, where Icheb (imo the most criminally underrated character) risks his life to save Seven's when she is in imminent danger of dying due to her cortical node shutting down. It's a heart-wrenching episode that explores Seven's closest relationships on Voyager: with Capt. Janeway, the Doctor, Icheb, Neelix, even B'Elanna to an extent, as she contemplates death and the afterlife. Night was another great one, showing the crew in their lowest emotional state while also not coming off as totally bland and uninteresting.
@DavidKnowles0
@DavidKnowles0 7 жыл бұрын
I wish we had more stories set in the Night void, imagine the crew slowly unraveling mentally as they travels weeks, even months through this endless void. May be start the episode where we slowly seeing them come apart, with the doctor unable to find any cause other than the void, which as far as the doctor can tell is just a empty area of space. Then have the second episode start off with dark aliens attacks, but have the whole ship in darkness as the crew slowly fight off the aliens. An then third episode is the struggle to speak to the aliens and to close the spacial vortex that brought the alien barge into the area. With the crew genuine considers simply taking up the offer.

I believe Death Wish (already mentioned above), Tuvix, Distant Origin, Deadlock (which I just watched again after over a decade), The Thaw & finally Before & After all hold up to repeated viewings. Voyager was the best Star Trek show in my opinion followed by DS9, TNG (the first 2 seasons plus the outdated special effects & makeup drag this one down for me= the dangerous fish men during Pulaski's time was just awful),TOS & Enterprise being ill conceived from the get go. Thanks 4 asking. Maybe you should do a top 10 Kes & top 10 Seven lists & let people way in on those. :)

IMHO it's the strongest series Star Trek has produced. Take any random Voyager episode and stack it against a TOS, TNG, DS9, or ENT episode and it'll likely be a better story with better acting and better character development. (I'm not including the modern series because they are Star Trek in-name-only as far as I'm concerned) I agree that people often dump on it, but I've noticed the reasons they give always vary wildly. I'm not sure if the cause was that some fans just had Star Trek fatigue by the time it came out (the 3rd ST series in a row), or if there are a number of people with a conscious or unconscious bias against having a female captain.

My favorite episode of STV was 'The Thaw'. It was dark, sinister and at times horrifying. Perhaps it was Michael McKean as the clown and Robert Picardo doing his dark deadpan. Even the finale was both sad, twisted, the Captain being seriously evil making a character realise and becoming terrified of his own death. Mini horror show.

Amen, brother. She's strong & independent & determined & smart & charming etc.. - but yet, she's also sometimes doubtful and hesitative; her responsibilities make her tackle her vulnerabilities every now and then; she can make mistakes, but is capable of acknowledging them; and occasionally, she even behaves a bit like an asshole. But that's exactly what makes her REALISTIC as the main character, as well as a human being as such. To me, that is what makes her truly endearing, stand out and remain unforgettable. LbnL re-casting the role to Kate Mulgrew was a super-stellar choice.

For me Voyager got a whole lot better when Seven of Nine and the borg were brought into the frame. The first three seasons were OK but the last four were better. Although I do wish the ending had them land on earth and reunite with their love ones I still like this series. I find myself watching it almost as much as some of the others though I do consider those better. Alos how bout that episode where they have those prisoners aboard and one of them has Seven's nanomites? in him and he is cured of his psychopathic whatever. Maybe the entire episode wasn't brilliant but the ending was pretty heavy.

Voyager also has the most underrated episode ever, "The Omega Directive", most underrated as it's story was relegated to a mid season "standard" episode, but had the potential of a 2 parter, or even a movie of it, it has a *way better story* than Star Trek Insurrection, but insurrection is a movie, and The Omega Directive is a simple episode, biggest mistake of the franchise

My two favorite episodes of Voyager are Blink of an Eye and Muse. Blink of an Eye tells the story of Voyager being stuck in the orbit of a planet whose time is much faster than that of the rest of the galaxy. So Voyager becomes part of the planet's history, inspires culture, music, and politics. Muse is about Belana crash landing on a Rome-like planet where her logs and story become an inspiration for a writer's new play. Both such good uses of Voyager and effects on the planets without really doing much :)

Great episode list. But I'd add one more: Course: Oblivion 5x18. This is the episode where the crew discover they and the entire ship are are biomimetic copies that are slowly breaking down. They make a desperate attempt to reach the real Voyager and launch a capsule that documents the proof of their existence. I just love how absolutely bleak and hopeless this episode is. Man, I fell in love with Sarah Silverman because of "Future's End". I enjoyed the double twist of "Counterpoint". "Someone To Watch Over Me" was really good...especially the Doctor & 7 of 9's duet. Robert Picardo was so good in "Tinker, Tailor, Doctor, Spy"..."Tuvok, activate the photonic canon!". And "One Small Step" (which was directed by Robert Picardo) chokes me up every time when 7 of 9 lays her hand on John Kelly's casket & tells him the Yankees won the World Series in 6 games. But the best emotional moment of the series was when Lt. Barclay made contact with Voyager in "Pathfinder". Can you imagine what that must've felt like for both sides? I wish they had shown a scene of Starfleet announcing to the world & Voyager's families that they had made contact.
