People commenting about that lineswoman faking the fall need to realize that it wasn't the racquet rebound that caused her to fall, rather her knees buckled while she tried to dodge the racquet. She was caught off guard by the racquet throw (as would anyone), and that was her instinctive reaction to duck & dodge it. But the racquet did hit her on the back (I don't think that caused any injury or serious pain to her though hopefully). The player was rightfully defaulted for his conduct.

At the Dallas Challanger in '08: Echagaray vs. Witten. Echagaray was defending a match point in the third set tiebreak at 6-5 and a foot-fault was called on his *second* serve, losing him the match.

I was just wondering, why actually does the sound of racquet hitting the ball sound so different on clay and grass courts?
@kjn3350
@kjn3350 4 жыл бұрын
@Brendan Mather I think it would be the other way around, to account for their playing style on the court. So clay court play would be slower and more accurate, while grass court play is faster and less accurate. Just a guess, though, I don't know.

i think its bc of sound absorption...much higher on clay and grass (from what i hear its more echoey on hard courts)

People complaint a lot about court behaviour, racquet smashes etc. They really have no idea how a win on court means to these players. Sir Andy with tremendous pain wanted that win badly. That's the spirit guys. It means the world to them. Instead of complaining and hating them, just enjoy the sport.

Okay, to be fair to that line judge, the racquet head was still rotating when it hit her back, so it probably stung a little bit. But still, all that padding from her body type, and it's a hilarious acting job.
