Please explain to me, how the hell is Storm number 5 when *She is the single most recognizable female from Marvel Comics pre-MCU, ANY book, poster, t-shirt, memorabilia BEFORE the Marvel movies started displayed Mostly if not ALL male characters, including Spiderman, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Hulk, Dr. Strange... and ONE female -> Storm! *She has been classified as an Omega Level Mutant, so she is definitely more powerful than Emma Frost, Batgirl, and a non-possessed Jean Grey (who's sole claim to fame is being possessed and dying, constantly). *She is the most popular black superhero in history, since we're talking about CULTURE. *She is one of the first female leaders of a major superhero team, if not THE first! *STORM was chosen as Marvel's baddest bitch in Amalgam, she fought Wonder Woman, DC's HEADLINING female and the most popular female superhero ever. The comic itself and results don't take away from the fact that it wasn't Ms. Marvel or Black Widow, or Jean Grey or the White Queen, it was Storm! *She is the ONLY female superheroine with her own amusement park ride (the actual ride not-with-standing... she still has one and not even Wonder Woman does) *She has had more video game appearances, playable or not (and the fact is she is USUALLY playable), than any other female superheroine, EVER... *Her costume was even used for ALL the models on the Halloween episode of Deal or No Deal, not Wonder Woman's, not Supergirl's, not Batgirl's, and definitely not Jean Grey or Emma Frost, cuz who the hell are they? Why? Movie wise storm is more recognizable, but Sue is a more important member of her team, is more powerful then storm, has a more famous costume (everyone knows the FF jumpsuits), is more important in marvel history then storm. Storm i feel is held back by her team having a lot of more recognizable faces. Jean Grey is the primary force in one of X-Mens most famous story arcs, Cyclops is the most famous feild leader, Wolverine is Wolverine. She is also definitely not the heart and soul of the x-men, as she nearly fried marrow, staged a coup against cyclops, and left the team to live in wakanda. I would say Shadowcat, Jubilee, Nightcrawler or Colossus fit that role better.

Wrong. Storm is more recognizable. Google Marvel's most recognizable female character. You'll get Storm, you'll get Black Widow. You may get Jean Grey, somewhere. You won't get Invisible Woman. Take a survey. Go around and ask random people, include non-comic book readers in your survey. Show them pictures. Take a count of how many people get which hero's right. You say Sue is a more important member of her team... of 4 people... Lol... right... Storm LEADS her team... And that's a stupidly subjective and completely unprovable statement. Whether she's more powerful or not is debatable and completely beside the point. And we're talking about the character, sir, not the costume, and notably Sue without hers is all but forgettable. Storm is recognizable in street clothes. Also debatable is Sue's importance in the Marvel Universe versus Storm's. Sue is certainly up there, she was one of the first female superheros in the MU, she is powerful and belongs to an important team within said universe, but they can barely keep a readership. It's well known that the X-books have carried Marvel for a while now, their readership is one of the highest in comics. It can be argued that the X-Men as a whole are far more important to Marvel than the FF, and by sheer relation, Storm versus Sue. But that's entirely debatable. But then it was STORM who fought Wonder Woman in Amalgam. DC's most POPULAR and RECOGNIZABLE heroine... not Sue... Your other choice is cute tho! Jean Grey, who's famous for dying... constantly... Is constantly misunderstood as being Phoenix during the Phoenix/Dark Phoenix Sagas, when they are 2 different people, and in reality Jean had nothing to do with the either considering she was in a cocoon at the bottom of the Hudson Bay, and is currently... you guessed it... dead. Cyclops and Wolverine are... males. I'm confused. But, along with Storm, they do make up the X-Men's big 3. Not sure what that has to do with anything though. The heart and soul of the X-Men is a little hard to pin down, as pretty much every main character has been called this at some time or another... Cyclops, Cannonball, Iceman, Storm, Jean Grey, Professor X, Beast, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Kitty Pryde... and again what does this have to do with what we're talking about... More confusion... She tore out Marrow's heart (she didn't fry it), she challenged Cyclops (not exactly the first time, read the books) and left to live in Wakanda... ummm ok?... Phoenix killed an ENTIRE PLANET of people... had no reason to officially challenge Cyke, but she did cheat on him, left the X-Men to join X-Factor, and then died... Not sure what killing, standing up to someone, or leaving for a short period has to do with being a heart or soul of a team, or more importantly, with being recognizable, but let's move on. But first I should mention that Storm has been an actual member of the X-Men far longer than Jean. Jean joined first, then left, then came back, then "died", then came back to life and joined X-Factor... for years, then rejoined the X-Men YEARS later, then died... again, a few years after that... and is still dead... Storm joined, lead the team, missed out on her marriage to Forge specifically because she could not leave the X-Men, then FINALLY... YEARS later married Black Panther and left for 3 years... 3... and Came Back, and has never left since. Still leading. Today. Jubilee is lovable, but no one who actually reads X-Men would ever call her the heart and soul of the team... Sigh... weren't we talking about Marvel's most recognizable female character?

I have to agree that Storm popularity wise is on par or greater than Jean, and canon wise is definitely greater. Jean is great and she deserves to be on this list but I wouldn't place her 2 spots above Storm but right behind her. Whether or not Storm is above Sue is debatable but hard to say since they are from different teams.

Storm deserves a much higher spot on this list. Given she has an awesome origin and backstory, unique powers she employs in interesting ways, battles prejudice, has proven leadership ability, and has proven she can hang with the X-men even when she has no powers at all, she easily outclasses most of the entries higher on her on this list list. Jean Grey? Is pretty much nothing without the Phoenix Entity. Batgirl has never been much more than an idiot teenager in a costume who often gets captured/tortured by Batman's rogues. Supergirl and Wonder Woman are little more than Superman (now with boobs!).

+aquatictwist Probably true. Though lightning should be able to kill Supergirl as she's not on par with Superman who struggled being thrown into the sun. Lightning is as hot as the surface of the sun as well as not being the type of energy Kryptonians need. There's also a version of Storm that knew black magic after losing her weather abilities, so that version would win. Still, list is not based on powers and I'm not sure on the exact physics there. One of the most important things Storm ever did was take leadership from Scott Summers through trial by combat. Storm did this after losing her powers. She then proceeded to fight alongside the other X-Men as well as lead them. She even took over the Morlocks through a fight with their mutant leader as well while still depowered. Storm has many cool things about her, but losing her powers and proceeding to still be useful is the most amazing to me.

***** Not really. X-Men alone has cluster of females that are well known, developed, and effective. (Though, speaking of Storm, I'll point out she suffers from being so overpowered compared to the rest of her team that she is often a unfortunate glass cannon to prevent her from being overpowered.) ***** To be fair, most of them are kind of lousy. DC focused on making a lot of undeveloped heroes. Their acts of bravery may be neat, but often the characters themself are rather lacking. Superman is a shining example of this. (Albeit, characters like the like the Flash were fun, but didn't have too many standout villains.) (Superman's power flucuates to where events often come down to a formula, where he may in one arc he may go toe to toe with a meteor, but in another event he'll have the same amount of trouble with a guy who knows how to box. Too much of his character relies on symbolizing heroism instead of giving the character depth.) And just for note, there is a Flash movie.

I think this is a pretty spot-on list. These might not be the most powerful super heroines, but they're definitely the most iconic. Like, Wonder Woman is not my favorite, but I gotta admit, she's a household name, more recognizable than Kitty Pryde or Zatanna Zatara (personally my favorite). WatchMojo doesn't pander exclusively to diehard geeks, so their picks aren't going to be so obscure that only a handful of people are going to recognize.

Cassandra Cain - Batgirl #2. And No. 1 martial artist in DC universe. A girl raised by the world's greatest assassin to read only body language (thus, never learnt to read or even speak). This caused her to be distraught after she killed a man at age 9, reading his body-language to see how much fear and pain he was in. The only person able to surpass Batman in both combat and determination - how many heroes can say they intentionally rushed straight into a firing machine gun to protect the bad guy behind them? She also adds some diversity, being a half-Asian, illiterate, mentally-handicapped girl motivated by redemption, not vengeance. And she manages to bring out Batman's softer parental side more than any of his other adopted children.

While Supergirl's stories piggy back off of Superman's more than a few times, her place in the pantheon of superheroines is not to be denied. Her power and youthful exuberance give her an interesting twist on the Kryptonian origins and culture, as Superman becomes too thinky and second guessy sometimes. Power girl is a more preferred version, as it's a name that is of Kara's own making and not an appendage to the Man of Steel's image. Plus, dem boobies! LOL jk

I would of liked to have seen Agent Peggy Carter on the list. Unlike most girls here she doesn't have any powers or a costume. Her power comes from her femininity in a world where being feminine was not a good thing. She does not ask for respect with words, she demands it by her actions and proofs that she is just as good if not waaaaay better than any male agent she works with. I am so sad to see her show go. I was hoping Raven made it to the actual list, she's technically the spawn of Trigon, who is a destroyer of worlds. but yeah wonder woman being first is no real surprise. She's easily overlooked but has a TON of achievements under her belt, like being worthy to use thor's hammer, being strong enough to pretty much only be able to be restrained by superman, pulled planets, punched someone to pluto, and has entered the goddamn speed force on her own speed, which is something only the flashes can do.
