Check the check engine codes with OBD2 Scanner and look up the codes. It will tell you. Good Luck!

I have a P0420 code (low catalytic efficiency) on my 03 Honda civic. I used to have a P1457 code (emission EVAP leak) but that just disappeared. Now it’s just P0420 My symptoms: After running my car for a while, turn it off, go to the store or something, come back and turn it on, after about 30 seconds, the RPMs will stumble .. almost like it wants to stall out and then it’ll accelerate itself and stabilize. Now that the video mentions it, I am hearing rattling 🤔 I also have strong gasoline smell inside and around car. On a scale of 1-10, how likely could this be a bad cat? I just recently had an engine swap, spent lots of $$ already 😭

@@mattymcfabb I just did my cat this weekend. Unfortunately it didn’t fix the problem. I even got the check engine light back on. I don’t have a scanner so Idk what code it could be now. Regardless of that tho, my next move is to change out the 02 sensors, I’ve already changed the purge valve, clean out the throttle body, possibly replace any other evap component like the lines, solenoids, canister.. since I already wasted money on the most expensive thing: the cat -_- Let’s keep each other updated to see if we can fix this. I’ve been at this for a long time. I’ve neglected it too but now that I have a new motor block in it, I want to take care of it.

@@PeaceNinja007 put mine in last night. It was a bitch and a half due to 25 years of rust but we got the light turned off and the car seems to be running fine. I had real bad rattling from the old one and it’s gone now. I suppose the only true test is time so we’ll see if the light comes back or anything changes down the road

Replace the entire exhaust from the muffler to the exhaust manifold.

In the case of Mazda CX-3, bad catalytic converters can also cause a driver side floor to get a little hot. It happened to me recently, and I'm now in the process of getting it replaced.

P0137, p0141, p2187, p2196 and check engine are on my dash. I replaced the o2 sensor since it was burned already bad. And now the cars rpm moves between 2 and 3 when the car is cold and i turn it on. It goes away after i put it on gear. I hope is a vacum leak and not the cat since i have a 2016 maserati ghibli. Only 14k miles btw. Wtf can it be?? 😅😅😅😅

Looks like its a cat delete and cut out install time. I live in an agricultural county, so emissions don't matter
