My favorite place in Japan...is the convenience store 😇
Today I decided I would introduce you guys to just some of my favorite things about konbinis here in Japan!! But honestly I love everything about it so it couldn't all be mentioned 🙈 What's your favorite thing about convenience stores in Japan? Let me know down below!!!
I know 7/11 is always the most popular, especially among foreigners for some reason lol, but I really do prefer Family Mart or Lawson...idk, all the 7/11s near me have always been kinda dirty and old in comparison lol

That is exactly what I think about convenient stores. Not just convenient, but also we can buy food, cooked food, desserts, slurpees, drinks and magazines.

food - fresh onigiri (cold rice triangles you hold like a sandwich) where you unwrap the second plastic that keeps the dry crispy seaweed sheet apart from the moist rice - and then bite into the variety of pickle or whatever - are a special breakfast snack for cheap already - for lunch I sometimes grab a soba - with wasabi and soy - for a quick pick-me-up of noodles - and yeah - icecream or cakes - are always worth a browse

Lawson has the best and biggest size of coffee and lattes; MEGA SIZE. It's a decent amount unlike all the other konbini's. Lawson is my favorite.

I can't help but feel like the real story behind those umbrellas is that there is a pervasive culture in japan where it's ok to use the free ones because you know they're cheap enough,, and you won't even know you need one until you're there at the free ones. So as long as it's one of those super cheap ones then it counts as a free one since it will break before it matters and as long as you regularly put them out then you make up the balance, and then when you're in a bind and there's some free one there, you'll be ok to take one for yourself! (just, if you are 100% confident you will need one on the way out, buy one, but if you might be ok without it, you can probably gamble on one of the frees)

I bought a really nice umbrella once, with a wooden handle and this nice nautical design on the umbrella material itself… it got pinched in less than 24 hours! I left it in the communal hallway of my *apartment building* overnight and someone pinched it! So after that I just use the cheap ones or take a foldable one that goes in my bag. By contrast I can leave my mobile phone in Shinjuku station toilets for 20 mins and go back and it’s still there. 😂

services - all the machines in Japanese - what I've done is ask the attendant, ideally one key word - like 'Jibboolee ? (shrug - point to machine) - the staffer will go 'ah so!' - come over and do the whole tikecting thing on the machine for me, and I only have to choose the date/time - it's a beautiful thing.

This was fun! Always jealous of all the seasonal treats. Where I am in Canada they never do anything special. It’s all sweets from the US and they never change. Every now and then you might get a different flavoured Aero bar lol

Convinience stores has really been my saviour after coming to Japan - I live in a sharehouse with 25+ people so space in the fridges and cabinets are really scarce, and it's just a hazzle to cook. Food is cheap here in Japan (compared to my home country), and incredible tasty, even most premade meals from your local convinience store. I haven't tried the coffee machines yet, but I have to try buying an ice latte from FamilyMart now lol! Thanks for the tip

ATM is the most important for tourists… 7-11 ATM takes foreign cards as well as post offices. But it has operating hours… so take notice of times…

I love convenience stores so much. The food and drinks are so good 😊 And next time I get the chance to visit Japan, I definitely have to explore them some more because the first time I was a little overwhelmed by everything. In Germany unfortunately we don’t have those kind of stores so I didn’t know what to look for. But thanks to your videos I’ve got a bit of an inspiration. So I guess the next time will be great 👍🏻

I dealt with the umbrella thingy by putting Evangelion washi tape around the handle. Never got my umbrella taken:,) The seasonal and limited edition items made me have a new hobby...it's my fave thing buying the limited editions of like, Haagen-dazs, Horoyoi and Country ma'am's :,) And I just love the fact, that summer is somehow a mint choco time.

Hello, I just completed my junior year in high school and I want to teach English in Japan when I get older. I would like to get my undergraduates degree in Japan and would like to know of some Japanese universities that would allow me to take courses for ESL teaching, or any courses that would help me become a teacher. If you have any recommendations or just any schools in general please tell me, thank you.

My son teaches English in Japan. The first requirement was a 4 yr college degree/any subject. He did not need a TEFL degree to do so. He applied online with Aeon, ECC, and others. First interview was a Zoom type meeting. The second one was an in person group interview. You can find many KZbin videos on interviewing for this type of job. His first interview was with Aeon. He was quite nervous. I reminded him they are hiring you for your personality. What is the worse thing they could do to you, but tell you no. After in person interview there is a grammar, spelling test. So make sure you are a good student in English. After a backround check, review of your college credentials, and employers, you will be notified that you are hired. He did not apply for the Jet program(he missed the hiring date). Really look into the school you'd like to work for. Jet, Aeon and ECC pay more and have more benefits than others(such as paying for your health care, transportation). When looking into which company you'd like to work for, Check out their website and compare what they offer. Some require you to sell study material and books. Some will subsidize rent. Some companies will have a furnished small apt ready for you. My son had a small furnished apt waiting. He just paid the deposit and first month rent. Be careful for the ones that don't(you will have to pay a lot to get into this type of apt and can take a few days to find one). Lots of info on the internet. Just be prepared to be open to new experiences. Be prepared, bring extra money, and more work clothes, shoes than suggested. Best of luck.

@@lorrane2177 Thank you for this, I am going to talk with my dad about it today. I have been a bit scared to tell him, but after reading through this and seeing how much you care for your son has given me confidence. He will be a bit confused at first because I’ve never really told him that I was interested in teaching and also living outside America. I just hope we can find and equal ground and somehow get me into a career that allows me to teach English in Japan. Thank you for replying and have a good day. 😁
