Kobe Japan Travel Guide - Things to do and eat in Kobe City including Kobe beef. We explore the entire Kobe Japan area visit kobe beef restaurants, chinatown nankinmachi, kyukyoryuchi, rokkosan, meriken park and even arima onsen. These are my Kobe travel tips and also kobe street tour video. There are quite a few kobe tourist spots so I wanted to break it all down and I've also included a kobe map for viewers to follow along. This Kobe travel guide should be your ultimate reference for the Kobe area. Japan Kobe city is a wonderful place to visit and almost feels like a less crowded Yokohama to me. Definitely worth visiting if you are looking to enjoy the Kobe attractions and I even show you where to eat Kobe beef. Don't forget to eat Kobe Beef ramen at Yazawa. This is also a perfect guide for the 2020 Olympics and Japan Rugby World Cup 2019 in Kobe.

Kobe - SHOPPING STREETS
Shopping in Kobe is ubiquitous but luckily it’s all within walking distance. When you first arrive at Sannomiya Station, you’ll be greeted by department stores like SOGO and OIOI where you can get many luxury fashion items. But if you’re into more the local shopping scene then it’s a must to venture into the shopping streets, also known as shotengai.
Kobe KYUKYORYUCHI
When Kobe it’s international port in 1868, this foreign settlement was constructed. Designed by British Civil engineers the 126 blocks were auctioned to western foreigners. 70% of the buildings were destroyed after the World War II air raids in 1945. Kobe city decided preserved the remaining buildings as cultural properties.

The restaurant with the Spiderman on the wall is Genkichi Kobe Beef. It had the best beef i've ever had and far superior to any of the surrounding cheaper restaurants. The waiter was friendly and gave great advice on what cuts of steak we should try and really great information on what to expect. The chef was warm, friendly and spoke good english. He explained how it was best eaten and how to enjoy the Kobe beef with each condiment. We even got photos with the chef and waiter outside! I can't highly recommend the place enough and it was the highlight of our trip to Kobe.

I've been living in Kobe for over 5 years. You blow me away with how spot-on you are on everything. We definitely don't use north and south here. (There are basically no train lines going north or south, so when you exit the station you know which way you're going depending on wether you can see the mountains or not.)

I visited Kobe for a daytrip this year in September and the Nunobiki Herb gardens were my absolute favorite the whole area on top of the mountain and the beautiful way down back to Kobe including the water reservoir were amazing. I think Kitano is a very nice place at Kobe as well we liked it a lot and found it funny that there is a german house so we as germans had to check it out.
