Believe it or not, there are idiots out there that don't know these things. I had a Coworker damn near blow up one of the break room microwaves because she had no idea that putting her crumbled aluminum foil wrapped lunch inside was an extremely bad idea.

They did the water experiment on Mythbusters. Water can only become superheated without boiling. Tap water always boils due to impurities. Distilled water can be superheated and explode.

Learned #3 the hard way. I heated up a boiled egg (per my mom's suggestion) for breakfast for about a minute, and as soon as I bit into it it exploded right in my mouth. I couldn't taste anything but overcooked, exploded egg for the next few days and I couldn't even get rid of the breath that followed me afterward.

this is an absolutely terrible list... I can think of a whole lot of worse items to never put in the microwave... everything on this list was edible food, water, things that hold said food items and metal (like what spoons are made of)... nothing of substance. How about these never to put in the microwave... A hot wheels car, a lava lamp, a pencil, a smaller microwave, a dog, a cat, any animal (obviously), a portable DVD player, a DVD, Hillary's deleted tweets, toys, Boar Vessel (500-600BC) Etruscan ceramic, lettuce (come on thats actually disgusting... I ate it, it was not good), Lollies / candy (pretty sure it can explode) An entire turkey, a baby, Obsidian (Reminder: Cast obsidian), a rubrics cube, connect four, clothes, a portable stove, a brick, a stack of stacked paper, Moms spaghetti (as it looses essential nutrients after reheat 3:11 ), a tile, Thor's hammer, an infinity stone, a battery, wires, an iPhone, an iPhone 3G, an iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, an iPhone 4S, an iPhone 5...ect (you get the point), an Apple Watch, an actual watch, leather... the list goes on and on. Believe me.... people put stupid things in their microwave and sadly I don't think this list will stop said people.

I'll be honest. As a kid in the late 1970s when microwave ovens first started to become popular my parents bought one. I did try to hard boil an egg and it did explode. The door of the oven flew open and there was egg on the china cabinet in the dining room about 30 feet away. Thank God I wasn't standing right in front of the oven.

I have done #6 which is nothing. I was using an old trick from working in a restuarant to clean the inside a microwave, which is to spray inside with water and leave it for 2min. My microwave made a weird sound and blam just shut off, it eventually worked when I reset breaker and waited 30min.

Soft Batch cookies should be on this list. Years ago, I thought it’d be a good idea to put a couple of soft batch cookies in the microwave to warm them up & make them seem like they just came from the oven. Something in the cookies made the microwave spark as if I’d put metal in it. I haven’t eaten Softbatch cookies since!

Idk if this is still done but I’m sure it was so unsafe and dangerous. My friends and I used to make keychains out of empty potato chips bag by putting them in the microwave. The bags would shrink and become a pliable plastic. We hole punched a corner and added a key ring and voila a mini potato chip bag keychain. We turned out fine and the microwave survived. Lol

If you want the food to taste fresh and not be so chewy, just put a damp paper towel the size of the plate over the food and presto, you've now learned a 3rd generation trick past down in my family. Try for yourself. Works best with pasta, pizza, fast food, and even things like veggies and steak. though steak will be a bit harder to master since it all depends on the cut divided by th weight to get the right ammount of fully cooked food
