How was it “SHAAAMEFUL?” the way she was written out of the sequel? She turned it down herself and they even canceled the last movie because she turned that one down. They respected her decision on that & mourned the lost of a character/coworker and canceled the entire thing (after the story was written) If she was the only one who didn’t want to do it, they had every right to release the show sans Samantha. Then in the first episode mentioned her and explained her absence by saying she moved to London for work. I don’t see how it could have been any less shameful. Ms mojo, please don’t create drama where there is none-you’re better than that.

I think they handled her absence in the reboot fine the actress didn’t want to come back. Relationships change and they showed the love was still there. But Samantha as the most loyal and non judgmental of the three always deserved better.

4:30 Miranda's comment here is why I cannot get on board with this stupid woke agenda being pushed in AJLT's storyline where Miranda suddenly is into a woman who is pretending to be neither male or female. Pathetic.

and... * when offered the chance to be judgmental, she said "not my style." * didn't want to steal Miranda's wedding day spotlight by sharing her cancer diagnosis * was supportive of each one of those b*tches without ever making them feel bad for the choices they made. The "you bitch!" at the woman who stole Charlotte's baby name will forever be one of my favorite Samantha moments. Especially because she doesn't care about babies or anything motherly. She didn't even want to be at that baby shower. But the moment her friend was upset, she defended her. The baby name probably didn't matter to Samantha, but it mattered to Charlotte, and that's why she said something. That is a golden friend.

She was successful, fun, unapologetic, and lived her life open and exactly the way she wanted, and was confident in who she was. Of all the items on this list, this one is weak. They make it clear that they don't think she is fat or any less of a person because she put on weight. What concerns them is that they know this isn't her. And she recognizes that the weight gain is a symptom of a deeper emotional problem. Earlier in the film Carrie has a similar conversation with Charlotte about running. Imagine a friend who loves their long curly hair. It has been a sense of pride for them for years. And then one day it is shaved off. Wouldn't you be concerned with such a drastic change? You would probably insist that they are still gorgeous, but you would also ask if everything was ok.

She hadn't written any books yet, so the meeting could've been rescheduled. Like when she had jury duty and thought her excuse would get her off (that she's a freelance writer and no one can cover for her). When it didn't, she acted like a child and rolled her eyes. Then after Miranda had returned home with a neck brace Carrie came over just so she could talk about herself. She didn't even ask her how she was. Thankfully, Miranda got mad, but she forgave her too easily. Once she did Carrie continued to talk about herself. She is a pos. She disgusted me when she expected Charlotte to give her, her $30,000 engagement ring after Aiden evicted her because Carrie didn't want to get married. The nerve she had to go to Charlotte's and winge about the fact that Charlotte didn't offer her the money honestly made me sick. Carrie chose to end her engagement. YES.. which makes that sh-t show of a "reboot" all the more tragic on four levels when it comes to how they treated Samantha. 1) she would never have been so petty as to end a friendship over Carrie's decision not to need a publicist (but THEN magically, Carrie suddenly is back to writing.. slap to Samantha!) Samantha was ALWAYS loyal to her friends-- even if they were at odds with her. 2) Merely sending flowers for Big's funeral. The real Samantha.. the one we knew and loved.. would have been the FIRST one on that plane to be with Carrie. I mean, if she flew all the way from LA to be there for Carrie to help pack her items, you mean she would NOT be at Big's funeral? 3) She took control of the situation when Big stood Carrie up at their wedding, booked the honeymoon and she and Miranda got everything ready for Carrie when she returned (getting her apartment back and moving all her stuff out of storage and into her home). Samantha would have been there for Carrie when Big died.. and while we're on the topic... 4) Samantha would have been there with Carrie when she spread Big's ashes from the bridge in Paris. At the end of the series, It was Samantha who told Big to go to Paris and bring Carrie home.. and with Samantha only being a few hours if that from Paris, the Samantha we know would definitely have been there for Carrie. This "ghost" Samantha is NOT the Samantha we know. She probably would have slapped Miranda and screamed "Snap out of it! you're married with a son and a promising career as a civil rights attorney".

She always managed to get away with the "oh poor little baby me" attitude and the "helpless romantic nice girl" facade, but she was a pretty shitty person 90% of the time. Every prudish, bratty, whiny thing she said was always explaind away with the "well, you have to understand her, she's a traditionalist", as if that makes it ok to be judgemental of your friends. She was always unempathetic of Samantha's relationship troubles because she judged her lifestyle, but Samantha always had to run rescue her from these stupid meaningless ordeals she got herself in (like with the baby name bs). Or if someone says, 'You look great" and you're like, 'No, I'm fat." ....what if the person who complimented you is heavier than you? You're making them feel fat by saying that. The truly awful thing about what Charlotte said is that if she had just let Samantha know she was upset about her sleeping with her brother, Samantha would have respected it. Because Samantha is the best friend on that show and she puts her girlfriends first when she knows there’s a problem.
@bef9612

I agree. I also think that being obvious about sleeping with a friend's brother is a common thing that would make most people uncomfortable, and Sam should have been more subtle. Like she should show up in the common area in something other than her brother's shirt. I'm no expert on the show, but it seems extremely insensitive to do to a friend. I know people are not going to agree with me here. Sam is usually awesome, but i think in this moment she fell short.

@@bef9612 I actually agree with you on this. Samantha is sometimes thoughtless when it comes to her friends’ boundaries and what is generally socially appropriate. And everything is fine… until you disagree with them or give them any criticism. Because those kinda people are only good at giving criticism not taking it. I was very happy when I ditched those types of people and never missed them. At some point they try to get back into your life because they miss your attention and will suck up to you. Once you’re in your 30’s you take yourself and everything soo seriously you’re a cynical Miranda and if you’re lucky, you actualise into the final butterfly, Samantha. So, I've been re-watching this whole series. I've noticed that a lot of jokes and episodes don't hold up over time. Mostly dealing with Samantha's adventures. And the episodes seem a LOT less scandalous compared to things on TV now. Something that should have been pointed out here is that every time Samantha had bee slighted by her friends in the episode, it was a lesson for that friend to be more open about Samantha. Where Samantha was railed for her over sexuality and choices, Charlotte got the same treatment for her more conservative, "prudish" nature. Overall, this show is definitely not for the younger generation now, but when it aired at the time it did help women be more open with their sexuality and love. Also, the whole Maria episodes definitely did not hold up over time, but what do you expect when lesbianism was still very taboo on TV?

I was thinking the same thing. All the women were judgemental or questioned each other's choices at times and it almost always turned out to be the whole point of the plot: to learn how to be a more supportive friend. And while I absolutely do not not support some of the comments in the Maria episode, I do think most friend groups would be shocked and confused if their heterosexual relationship-resistant friend at that age announced that she's in a relationship with a woman. There would be a lot of confusion, questions and whiplash. The judgement and criticism is gross, but again I think a lot of the lesson in there is how to learn and grow from that.

You know what I'm happy Samantha isn't in the new show. She was too good for them then and she's for damn sure to good for them now

I sooo agree with your picks, I think she's been constantly bullied by the girls since season three and it's hard for me to watch the show without cringing

Samantha always has been and always will be my favorite character. It’s really sad that SJP had to be so jealous and petty 😡

They NEVER deserved Samantha. She was the only genuine one in the bunch. Soooooo glad she didn't come bacc to this dumpster fire reboot.

Samantha WAS the show. The reboot was disastrous and the big pink elephant in the room was that Kim Cattrall aka Samantha was not there!

Samantha will always be the MVP of SATC, not only cuz it was such a great written character but cuz Kim cattrall is phenomenal at potraiting her, nobody could pull it off like she did. Now in and just like that... it's so evident that missing spark, it would have been great if Cynthia nixon or even Kristin Davis had the beef with Sarah J Parker instead of Kim.

Samantha is the most true, sincere and real character. I miss her. This is why I do not watch this new sex and the city. It is poor without her.

She was promiscuous, but she was fabulous friend, and an inspirational woman. Kim Cattrall created a wonderful character, who is ultimately loved more than the lead.

promiscuous isn't even a thing really. I agree, Samatha was such a great friend and an insipiration in general!

@@thexxityes it is a thing. Those numbers add up as evidenced in the episode Samantha can't remember how many people she slept with when she needed an Aids test. If you spread it around your promiscuous if you sleep with one person your not. Samantha has been both she has been promiscuous and she has had committed relationships. It is a thing that's why we have an appropriate word for it unlike other people who refer to these women in a derogatory way. Also I'm still mad she broke up with Smith he was my favorite. 😢 Team smith

I've been waiting for this list for YEARS! The girls (particularly Carrie and Charlotte) were always so damn rude and mean to Samantha. Their comments after Samantha revealed her relationship with Maria were homophobic and revolting. When she revealed she was getting back with Richard, Carrie quipped "Desperate women who will believe anything" (highly ironic coming from her airheady ass). There were at least 10 times she should've back slapped Carrie and/or Charlotte
