Thing is even if Hitler was taken out, well at least any when after he got to power, someone else (probably Goebbels or Himmler) would of just took his place, and Himmler especially would of been worse than Hitler was I think. This probably won't be popular but Hitler not dying could actually be a good thing. If Hitler died then a more component leader would have likely replaced him which means that Nazi Germany would stand a much better chance at winning the war. At one point in time, a team of allied snipers were set up to kill Hitler but it was called off since allied command decided that if Hitler died then a more capable leader would take his place.

There are many more places where he could have died on the front.. Since he was wounded about a few times on the front line and 2 of them were chlorine gas attacks during a offensive (reason why he despised chemical weapons on the battlefield and did not allow the use of it aslong the enemy did not.) and once a bunker he was heading towards got struck by artillery and exploded a few seconds before he was about to enter it wounding him again by shrapnel.. And each time he demanded to be send back to the front once he recovered even though he could have being given a honourable discharge if he wanted to.. So I got to give the man credit where it is due.. He is no coward when it comes to frontline combat atleast when he was younger. And he had the medals to proof it.. He was considered a war hero by a majority of Germans for his courage.. Which sadly helped him gigantically during his political career.. Especially among the more older Germans and veterans at the time whom remember the Great War.

The more interesting failures was the failure of the UK to send troops to repulse the German army coming into the Rhine/French area when Germany was so weak the German Army had orders to retreat & the Grrman brass intended to take Hitler out in that event. When Hitler invaded Poland the French Army made a feint into Germany then retreated. A major British/French push would probably have ended Hitler there. There are other such times & chances where Hitler could have been defeated not merely killed. See the Fat Electrician also highlighted by Mr Terry the Historian on the British Tank genius all the supposed German Tank geniuses read & studied basing all their tactics & strategies on his work.

I counted 2 examples where Hitler might have not been killed but still been kept from power nonetheless.

To everyone saying that "if you killed Hitler, a more competent leader would have taken over," once the war had already started that is probably what would happened. However, before Hitler joined and completely overhauled what would become the Nazi party, it was just an insignificant group of disgruntled men that went to a local pub to drink and talk about politics. The original purpose of that group was to have Bavaria separate itself from Germany. If Hitler had died in WWI ,or before his rise to power, much evil would have been avoided.
