Thank you for making these videos; I have not seen BMET education of this quality on KZbin. You're honestly the Louis Rossmann of the biomed industry, keep the videos up!

Thanks man. I appreciate that. Tomorrow I'll be releasing a video which took me years of studying what works in repair shops and what doesn't. It's a culmination of my ideas on being a better biomed and a better team. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for watching!

Sometimes I wonder when I see techs respond to call and they have no tools at all on hand: What are you going to do? At least a philips, flat blade, pliers and knife will get you through 80% of generic tasks.

1 added "hidden" feature w/ the Leatherman Bit Kit, is that the slotted tips are parallel ground, (or, hollow ground,) so they actually fit more precisely into the fastener w/o damage. Leatherman also has great CS, & no questions asked repair & replacement. I also got a Surge, which is the Wave's big brother. It's about 50% bigger, but I don't mind the size. But the Wave disappears on your hip, until you need it. For a standalone tool, I also like the Victorinox Swiss Tools. You can use the Leatherman Bit Driver (not the Extender,) on the Vic's Phillips driver. The Vic's big advantage is the mirror polish finish, which prevents corrosion & makes cleaning them easy. The disadvantage is the mirror finish isn't ideal on drivers, so you should file them a bit, & riveted construction means you can disassemble them w/o modification. They also don't have 1-hand opening tools like Leatherman, but all the tools are on the outside, which is nice. The Wave has a finer needle nose than the Vic Spirit, & the Vic Swiss Tool doesn't have a needle nose at all. The Vic's have a "chisel" scraper that is useful, & make cleaner wire cuts than Leatherman. But the Leatherman's wire cutters are easily replaceable, & still make good cuts. Lastly, of there's a specific fastener you deal w/ most often, the Leatherman lets you have it ready inside the tool. Mine has a 4mm hex instead of a Phillips. Thanks for the videos!

Speaking of measuring continuity, my recommendation is never trust the beep alone. I had Fluke 1577 and 1587FC leading to wrong diagnosis multiple times in my team because they beeped when measuring a fuse that was actually blown. So always check the displayed resistance for plausibility on continuity tests is my recommendation. I didn’t check until which resistance Flukes beep but as I said, I had them beeping on blown fuses. Ok I have to add those were 10 A 1000 VDC photovoltaic fuses which from my experience don’t fully disconnect in terms of resistance while being still warm from breaking due to over current. Once they cooled down it’s fine.

Hi there, i got a general question. When starting in a new jobat a hospital they should provide tools or i should bring mines?
@BetterBiomedChannel
@BetterBiomedChannel 4 жыл бұрын
Great question! Depends on what the hospital wants to provide for you. Normally, here in the USA, hospitals will provide tools for the technician. The major downside is that you will only have what they are willing to provide for you: usually garbage, left over tools from the last few decades of technicians. I will make a video on this topic. Excellent question.

Main thing is , build the tools around that will help you , so you can help everyone else. Multi tool , fluke and a bunch of zip-ties and I start to feel safe.

Why would Hollywood depict a biomed tech as a sadistic killer in "The Bone Collector?" We get a bad rap. Also, how can you really escape a freezer room using a defibrillator in the movie Hollowman? Treat us with respect Hollywood!
