I worked for John Deere hauling equipment. Most of the tractors I hauled in for service work were for computer and electrical work. I asked the senior master mechanic if he thought these new tractors would be around in 70 years like the antique tractors are around today. He laughed and said "no way! As soon as product support stops making parts they will fadeaway pretty quick." He did say something interesting though. He thought there will be the retired computer geek that will make the occasional custom replacement computer. But those guys might be rare.

I would agree with that. Seeing these 2020 tractors at a 2,070 plow day is not likely. It will be interesting to see how long they last.

The 8RX is no doubt a very nice tractor. Practicaltiy of it is another thing to consider. They will be quite a bit higher in cost over the wheeled version and lot more up keep. Been studys on the newer low profile wide track tires available now that they say compares to the track machines in performance with better ride

I am no farmer but compaction is not only about the surface layer of soil. It is deeper down. It makes the soil unable to soak up rain water. Instead the water flows on the surface and drags soil with it into the streams. I know very little but I don't think even deep plowing solves compaction. The only thing that helps is to update the machinery to terra trac on all the heaviest equipment to avoid further compaction deep down in the soil. I'd love to learn more. ;)

My favorite is by far the new JD 8RX, that was a giant leap in JD's thinking, I would place the T8 New Holland in second place but the rattle of the front mud guard at 18:58 let me down as a Ford/NH fan, so it moves down to 3rd place, that was disgusting, the Fendt moves up to 2nd place, must say the color did it for me, the dull green make me look in another direction if I see one.

I would argue that the Fendt/Challenger 1000 series lives in the same area as the big twin track tractors, particularly the 600HP Challenger and 9RT Deere. Gotta give it up for the new 8 & 9 RX series though, talk about making some news! Is this the point where tracks become less of a mainstream option and more of a mainstream standard? At least not just for articulated 4WDs anyway.

I just found out yesterday that mccormick still makes tractors. I thought they stopped years ago
@bigtractorpower3 жыл бұрын
Yes McCormick was an International Harvester brand that dates back to 1831. McCormick merged with Deering and several other manufacturers in 1902 to form IH. IH stopped using the McCormick name plate on its equipment in the early 1960’s. In 1984 IH sold its agriculture division to Tenneco the owner of JI Case and Case IH became a new tractor company. In 1999 Fiat the owner of New Holland acquired Case IH. Case New Holland had to divest overlapping equipment lines to meet anti trust and monopoly laws. New Holland spun of its Vetsatile 4wd and Genesis 2wd lines which created Vetsatile Tractors. Case IH divested it’s 50% of Hesston to AGCO which owned the other 50%. The Case IH Maxxum and CX tractor lines were sold the Landini of Italy along with the McCormick naming rights. Landini created McCormick Tractors. I have a McCormick tractor video posted at kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWnFlIOtibB9rK8
@davegdm9543 жыл бұрын
@@bigtractorpower I knew it was part of that. however I thought they merged out of production as I hadnt seen any new ones til early this week. Are they part of agco or case now? also I think it would be cool to have mccormick in the next game in the farming simulator series

@markreetz10014 жыл бұрын
I liked the New Holland "Half-Track" because it reminded me of Dad's 540 Cockshutt with half-tracks. That little tractor with half-tracks could pull silage wagons where a 4020 JD with duals couldn't. Of course it's all due to traction and flotation. The half-tracks were like dozer tracks. What rubber tire can compete on mud or ice with that? That was a long time ago. But it's still fun to think about it. I wanted to ask: Is the McCormick tractor of today related to the McCormick-Deering of yesteryear?
@ksufarmer53194 жыл бұрын
Those new articulated tractors sure look silly (JD and CIH quadtracks). They are so tall and narrow. Quite a bit different than previous ones that were sprawled out with wide float tires. Look like they would just tip over on any angle...
