The blade sits centered in the handle when closed (photo added). It opens effortlessly. Unlocks and closes easily with one hand. It’s a great size for EDC. I wish this exact knife came in one of the premium steels to satisfy the knife snob in me.. but it’s a great tool at a great price as it is. Would buy again.

@@ssunfish they are brilliant, came very sharp, I just needed to stropped them to be totally like a razor. They keep the edge crazy long. I have made them a bit scandi-vex (like secondary convex at the bottom of the scandi grind. They are very hard to sharpen. Hovever nearly no need for sharpening, just stropping with diamond spray compound or Bark River compounds.

@@ssunfish, in my opinion, the only serious disadvantage of K390 steel is, that it is not stainless. That's why it is laminated by stainless N690. The only not laminated part is the bottom of scandi grind, which you strop from time to time, so you regularly remove any stain from it. That's why I consider this blade (it behaves like) stainless K390.

I totally agree with your number 1. In a survival situation you will need a very dependable tool, not the fancier or the nicest but the sturdiest and a jack of all trades. So, again, Extrema ratio Selvans, it's ugly as hell but is good as heaven.

Unfortunatly my budget was a mora robust and bushcraft ( i do love them ). Although that to me is an awesome gear haul. I hope to be a patreon member by spring. Would love to see you guys do a full test and destruction of a selection of typical pakistan shipped damascus knifes. See if one can be more than a wall hanger. Over the years ive been surprised by a few that surpassed all expection (as long as full tang) and some that havnt been hardened at all and wont take an edge. I have the Helle Utvaer, and it is one of the better full tang knives of that brand. It is light though, for Helle it is a survival knife, but really, like you said and for me, a bushcraft knife.

That's a great and kind of underated knife by many KZbinrs. The steel,heat treatment and edge geometry are all spot on. The handle is a personal preference but generally speaking, military style knives, sacrifice some comfort, for extra grip. Keep it sharp and have a Happy new year!!

@@ttretas First thing we should do, to any new outdoors or hard use knife, is sharpening while trying to keep the factory edge angle (if we think it serves our needs.If not, we can reprofile it, to our liking) For the steel, to be able, to perform as it should, we have to do at least 3 full sharpening sessions, if not more (depending on the knife/steel.), before the knife sees real use. If we don't sharpen out the factory edge, then the edge will probably suffer damage (chip or roll, even with normal use). After that,the difference is huge, both in cutting performance, edge retention and on edge stability!

Lol, I find Extrema Ratio knives to be very attractive in a sort of tactical way. Italians just have a knack for style. In a world dominated with typical American style survival blades ER stand out but unfortunately are extrema expensive. I bought their Shrapnel model with the longer standard handle for no real reason other than needing to have one of their kbives. .25" thick sub 4" long blade made little sense but I try to justyify it as an urban survival knife capable of prying...it just looks so dope with the tiger stripes. Love it.
