It means only the alternate realities caused by taking the stones themselves, Loki's escape was caused by the Hulk taking the stairway and bumping into Tony Stark, not by taking a stone. Since they took the Tesseract from an earlier point, and that point was later fixed by Steve returning the Tesseract, the Loki escape still didn't get fixed. But the thing is, Loki escaping either did already happen in an alternate reality (when they went back in time, they actually went in another dimension/reality), or created one itself, so he's free in that alternate reality, not in the main. In the main, there every events happened the original way regardless of what they did in the "past". Killing 2014 Thanos still didn't prevent all that the original Thanos did, because it was either an alternate 2014 Thanos, or the original Thanos, but creating an alternate reality when goint to the future. Either way the changes took place in that alternate reality. There's now a reality, where events were going another way from 2014 and on. Thanos is missing there, no snap happened, maybe even Ultron wasn't created, Sokovia incident didn't happen, civil war didn't happen, lots of people haven't died. But that's still an alternate reality, in the main, all the original stuff happened as we've seen in previous movies from Iron Man to Infinity War and the begining of Endgame.

Even though the _Loki_ show on Disney+ will take place in the alternate timeline where Tony and Scott failed in getting the Tesseract, this timeline was in fact, erased as they failed getting the Space stone back before Steve successfully got the Mind stone after this and Steve put it back exactly where he took it from, erasing the _Loki_ timeline from existence.

To understand the time travel of MCU. Look at dragonball z and the future Trunks arc. He was able to go back in time, but he only managed to change the future of that timeline. His own remained unchanged. Granted, he was able to take something from that alternate past and bring it to his present, in order to change his future. Even the timeline that Cell came from is a different timeline. That is the basis that they are using in Avengers. Presently, we have one timeline where the MCU takes place as is. A second timeline where Loki escaped with the space stone after the battle of New York. A third-ninth where the stones vanished from their respective timelines for short periods of time. A tenth where Captain America went back to be with Peggy(likely instead of her most likely husband, Daniel Sousa). And an eleventh where Thanos, and his entire black order vanished without a trace in 2014.

Those semi-timelines of the stones were erased, when Steve returned them (just what professor Hulk was talking about with the Ancient One: "if you take the stone, you'll create another branch on the timeline, you would fix your world, but doom ours", "Not if we erase those branches by returning the stones to the exact point they were taken from, it would look like nothing happened", well something on those lines).

Cap had the Reality Stone and Time Stone. He could use the Reality Stone to restore the Space stone back into the Tesseract, Reality stone back into the Ither, Mind stone into the scepter, and so on. Then use the time stone to freeze time in order to return each item without being noticed. Once he replaces the first 5, the Ancient one is expecting someone to return the Time stone.

They can actually do the storyline where the three members of the Infinity Watch, Adam Warlock, Gamora and Puck lived peacefully inside the Soul Gem until a threat arises where Adam Warlock transfers their souls into recently decease humans to combat the threat. Since that was part of the original comic book Infinity Gauntlet story arc, the MCU could probably change it to the Infinity Cubes or the Magus as the threat.

From what I can tell, there are at least four timelines now: 1. The main timeline where the movies take place. 2. The timeline created when Loki escapes with the Tesseract, and as such he's never punished by Odin. 3. The timeline where War Machine and Nebula stole the Power Stone, and as such this timeline is missing Thanos and his army, as well as Gamora, and as such the Guardians of the Galaxy are never formed. 4. The timeline where Captain America lives with Peggy Carter.

To answer a few questions. Time is irrelevant it does not flow one way when you have the ability of time travel. Think of it like a river that can go backwards or forwards at anyone given time. My prediction when cap went back in time to deliver the stones he of course met up with the ancient one, the ancient one showed him every decision he could possibly make and told him and which one would be best for his life and any mistakes that could happen if he proceeded to go with another timeline. This sets up I'm pretty much any and every other idea or setting when it comes down to the time and location to drop off the other stones because I do believe he visited the ancient one first to get a good idea on what to do with the stones in the correct sequence. Loki is dead that's just it he is dead. The time stones are not completely destroyed even if they were destroyed, the things that they controlled would not destroy it so therefore would either 1 fall apart or 2 recreate a New stone.

With time travel and alternate realities introduced my vote for the next MCU big baddy is Kang the Conqueror. What's better is the introduction of Kang can also lead to the Young Avengers with an ancestor of Kang in the present as Ironlad. The sett up is really just perfect and it would be kind of stupid for the producers not to take the opportunity.

Kang is my choice too. Also since Kang is a distance relative of Reed Richards, it would be a good way to introduce the Fantastic Four into the MCU.

For #2 the comics have shown us multiple times the stones can be, broken I think would be the best word but not destroyed. They'll reform or materialize in another way. One time the stones were given life so they could in theory defend themselves from being obtained if I remember correctly.

By right, 2014 gamora was probably dusted off... when tony snapped, he aim thanos and his goons, gamora came to the present year as one of thanos' goons, so she was on the list of the annihilation... there is no more gamora unless there will be another time travel happens

one question is missing: when Cap returns the soul-stone, what happens to Black Widow, as Cap might come in the exact moment where she falls and because the stone is returned, her soul is not "needed" anymore so she should infact survive?
