One of the most unsettling moments for me was watching The Hand Lord Hightower, tell his teen daughter Alicent to go and provide "comfort" to Viscerys.

Watching Vicery’s wife(Aemma) having her baby cut out of her to spare the baby’s life only to watch both die. Hearing her scream was heart breaking and horrific at the same time!

Yeah I basically said nope after that. I’m child free, but I work in a blood bank and have been through too many PP massive hemorrhage protocols and it triggered me. And I read it triggered many women who had been through a traumatic birth situation.

I understand what people are saying about the fact that Aemma was going to die anyway but for me (and I believe a lot of others) the most upsetting thing about that scene was that Viserys didn't even TELL her!! She had no idea what was happening until they were cutting into her and they were holding her down while she was begging them to stop. That's the truly horrific part of that scene.

One of the quieter sad moments for me was in episode four when Alicent was about to sleep when shes called to the kings chambers. We begin to see this parallel between Ryhnera and her recklessness and Alicent having to follow all the rules and it gives Alicent alot more depth.

I still show respect to how Game of Thrones doesn't hide how society was like in that kind of time period. It shows how things have changed without pretending society of today was the way it always been. Showing how messed up things were is more visceral and easier to understand the extremity than just hearing or reading about it. From extreme age differences to incestuous royalty, we can't keep saying "What has this world come to?" Actually... better. As an overweight gynosexual black man, better.

Viserys did NOT ‘sacrifice’ Aemma! It was clear that she was going to die. It was just a matter of deciding whether to allow the baby to die WITH her or to cut her open, hastening her death and attempting to save the baby.

@@chipmunkpark8826 - I'm aware of that and HATE that women weren't even consulted about what was happening with their own bodies, but that has nothing to do with my comment. It wasn't about that. It was solely about whether he 'sacrificed' her or not, which he didn't. He wasn't cruel. As awful as it was, she was GOING to die either way. If they hadn't decided to try to save the baby, she could've suffered for hours, or even days, before dying. It was horrific, yes, but it hastened her death and ended her suffering...even though, yes, I realize she didn't was scared and didn't want them to do it. 😞

A close second is Aemma Arryn’s forced c section birth scene. I cannot watch that part. Once was enough for me.
