Klaus0506 I’m a valet here in atlanta. Most valets make little to nothing in pay per hour. 95% of our pay comes from tips. That being said, valets on a good night here in atlanta make $20-$25 an hour just in tips. Its not a strange practice for the valets to be paid $0-$3 an hour by the company itself.

As a former valet from downtown Fort Worth, TX, I've seen a few instances that are gold in their own way. 1. I had a regular that showed up at his favorite steakhouse in a different car almost every time. One day he shows up with his wife in a RR Phantom Drophead. Goes inside, comes out drunk as a skunk 3 hours later (his wife was driving) and after he gets in the car, they drove up a few feet, rolled down the window and gave me $100 for just having his car ready for him when he came out. 2. It was the night of the Fort Worth Rodeo, THE WORST time for valets because the streets were all one way and gridlocked. So I got stuck in an Audi S8 for at least an hour trying to park it in the lot that was a block away because the valet company up the street was blocking off the road for their entrance to their lot. Needless to say, the police weren't happy. 3. I pulled up a customer's BMW 550i and he was super pissed when I got out. Apparently the front bumper had been driven over the concrete stopper and had busted a couple clips off the side. So we made the damage report and they looked at the ticket and the initials said RJ...which are my initials, but it wasn't my handwriting. Turned out we had another valet who parked that same car and had the same initials as me. 4. I was entrusted to drive a McLaren Mercedes SLR Roadster after another valet greedily took the key from the client. The client responded by pulled the lead valet aside and said "I don't want him driving my car...I want your most experienced valet to park it." So in the end, the lead gave me the keys and just said "Be careful"...which of course I always am.

Valet in west palm beach here. I have a slew on stories. 1. At this location we left all keys on the tire. Needless to say Tesla’s will start with the key on the tire. 2. Valeting after breakers when we all hear a large bang. A brand new 2020 Bentley w12 got tboned he pulls up drops off his golf clubs and says leave it up front for the police. He won the golf tournament that day. 3. Supercar weekend in palm beach drove a viper acr, lead singer of ZZ Top’s red carbon Chiron. 4.another party we thought we had the permits waived since on palm beach island most of the parking is permit only, we got 87 $70 tickets that day. 5. Had a regular with a mclaren slr roadster Parked it 4 times a week and never got used to the brakes lol.

Valet from Columbus, OH here, Funniest story from a year of working as a valet at a Mercedes dealership in a super nice mall: I broke my wrist the day before a 7 am to 6 pm shift, and showed up without telling anybody. I had the blue full cast up to my elbow, so I could barely use my arm. The very first car that came in for service that needed driven down to the shop was a amg gt, bright yellow with these awesome racing stripes. The drive to the shop is only a mile or two, but driving this car with one arm was better than driving my Hyundai with two arms by far. Got back to the dealership after dropping it at the shop and bringing a loaner back and the manager came out and said it was a liability for me to be driving with a cast and sent me home.

Idk, I personally loved the part where he doesn't pay employees. I used to like listening to this guy but this particular video didn't make him look all that great in my opinion. If I had rocked up to one of his valet stands with my Lexus, went & did whatever & when I came out, my car was gone, (even for a few minutes) I'd have been furious to find out that the owner of the valet stand "stole" my car simply to prove a point to his college age employees. There has GOT to be a better way to do that.

@@DontwhipmeMassa Right!?! I could not believe he said he does that on a public video. He is essentially telling us that he doesn't trust the people HE is supposed to be vetting long before they get anywhere near my car. Like, the FUCK??? I honestly was pretty shocked & amazed. I know he didn't run that bit by legal before he shared it. Like I commented in a response to someone else, I'd be fine if he wanted to play Where's Waldo around the parking area until his employees notice him to see how closely they are monitoring the lot. I'd also be down if he wanted to hire a personal shopper, rent them a car & "steal" that one but stealing the cars of customers??? What the actual fuck? I'd be super pissed if he used my Lexus for that nonsense. I'm actually not too surprised now that he has so many valet fails videos. You attract talent by paying for it. He isn't paying them so he's fishing at the bottom of the barrel. Ugh, I didn't love this video. Oof.

Valet Attendant for 3 years here: These stories are hilarious because I’ve been on the valet end of many similar stories. Where I work valet is 24/7 and I work 3rd shifts on weekends. I’ve had customers hand me cocaine, give me $50 tips for smoking with them, the occasional firearm left out in someone’s car, stolen money out the valet stand, and more. I’ve never gotten in trouble for fucking up as bad as letting keys get stolen or anything but I’ve seen the dumbest coworkers. - One guy who worked at an apartment building valet used to take resident’s nice cars (Benz, Range Rover, BMW, etc.) and go take his girl on dates for 2-3 hours mid shift. Eventually he got caught and fired when a customer asked for their car and it was an hour away. - Had a guy crash his own Audi R8 close to our hotel and tried to tell the cops we did it even though he never valeted or even talked to us. - Once saw a loaded pistol and a ziploc bag of coke in a guys back seat. The customer was a 65+ old white clean business man. Tip for Potheads: If you’re gonna smoke before work do it at least 30min-1hr before hand, don’t wear your work clothes while smoking, DO NOT HOTBOX, and if a customer offers to smoke with you do it outside and make sure a coworker can park cars instead for awhile. OBVIOUSLY the safe thing is to not work at all if you are intoxicated but if you insist make sure you are very well experienced driving high. DO NOT DRINK. Alcohol impairs your motor skills and vision far more than weed and the smell can linger much longer.

I've valeted a vehicle once and never again. We had our BMW down at the house in Ft Lauderdale. Drove to a Mall in Hollywood FL. Shopped/ate food for about 3 hours. Went to get the car. They "didn't know where it was" Sat around for almost an hour while they were "trying to figure it out" and started losing my shit on them. The guy rolls up in a minivan full of shopping bags (another customers vehicle) and told us to get in and he'd take us to the car. Our car was 2 parking lots over. The motor and Trans were at operating temp. Smelled like fast food. They were basically either joyriding it around while we were in the mall, or using it to drive other valet users around. Another good valet story when I did valet at NICE hotel in Nashville. If you didn't know, NFL teams stay the night before a home game at a local hotel, its basically a lock down so they know their players are well rested. Anyways Mr QB Vince Young valet parked his new S-class with gaudy chrome wheels. One of our new valets pulled his car up to one of the "VIP" spots near the front door a few minutes before he left to make it look like we kept it there all night. Of course she brushes the curb with the pass front wheel. Maybe a 2-3" scrub on the wheel, IE wipe the dust off the low profile tire and you wouldn't notice it until you washed the car. Jason, our supervisor, who of course always yaks Vince Young's ear off every time he leaves in the morning handles this. He has the car parked in such a way to where the curb hides the damage to the wheel. Proceeds to stand in front of the wheel and starts bsing with Vince Young, gets him to laugh, gives him a $100 bill and drives off with a scraped up chrome wheel. No idea it was us lol

It’s safer not to pursue them, you endanger more people when you try to chase them. Just try to get video footage and follow up in it with a detective.

@12:55 "They usually get paid off their tips only". Let me get this straight: You really hire near children to work for you and they dont get paid? I would never, ever in my life, work for "tips only". Agreed fee per hour or gtfo, no matter how old I am or how desperate I am. If I work for you, you need to pay. And tips come on top.

This is why tipping sucks. If he can afford to lose a few grand in missing keys he can afford to pay these guys a fair wage.

That's our of context. A tipped employee makes minimum wage if they don't earn enough tips for the night. Getting tips for the night reduces their earnings to like 2-3 dollars/hr. So, yes, they basically get paid off of just their tips.
@Gromitz101
@Gromitz101 4 жыл бұрын
I doubt you ever worked a job that involved tipping... clearly you don't understand the whole concept. I worked 6 years as a valet. LAZ parking charged the 5 star restaurant $5 for parking. Customer assumes I getting a cut and lowers their tip, or sometimes not tip at all because they think I'm pocketing that $5. If LAZ didn't give me minimum wage they could lower that $5 to $3 and then I get a bigger tip on every car and the customer would be right that I get a cut of $5. Thus netting me a higher per hour rate. I made $8/hr in California because minimum wage plus tips. If I wasn't getting minimum I would net more from tips in the scenario above. I was making $10-16/hr from tips alone on a good night. Why would I want the business to pay me more when tips are being shoved at me due to my performance? Why demand more from the company and put little performance or you could work your ass off and get tipped like crazy for it? Granted that place had me parking cars in a 20 car lot and I was doing 20-60 per night solo. So it takes skill to tetris cars in that lot and not damage property, hence why it benefited me to be great at the job or else you split your tips with another guy.
