I have a proof set of 5. In a case that was given to me when I visited my girlfriend's mother for the 1st time about 15 years ago. We enjoyed each other's company and we had coin collecting in common. Since she grew up in Philadelphia she had acquired the set in the 90's. She gave it to me and they are a Treasure. Absolutely beautiful to look at.

Hi Christian, I really enjoy watching your videos!!! It's really awesome to see young collectors out there, and to be super knowledgeable as well!!! =) I have a quick question, I know PCGS offers coin restoration, is it possible to professionally restore these gorgeous 1943 steel pennies? I have about 40 and out of those, there is about 4 or 5 that look super nice, and after watching your video, I will surely check for your list. I did notice on one of my Denver's what looks to be DDR.... I know NOT to clean coins but never knew if they could be professionally restored. Thanks again for your awesome videos!!!!
@TreasureTownCoins5 жыл бұрын
Hey! I'm actually relatively unfamiliar with restoration outside of having heard of them / checked out their site. I think that the coins are unlikely to be worth the money that it would cost to get them restored (an MS66 is about a $35 coin, I think they generally work with more expensive ones). I could be totally wrong - wish I was more knowledgeable here.

Hi Christian! I watch a lot of your videos and follow you. Question for you, I have a 1943 in MS condition but the 4 is almost missing. You can see a shadow of the 4 but that's it. Is this an error and if so do you know the name?

Thank you so much for going over the coins and errors. I am new to all of this and I find the acceptable errors to be confusing I just went through 1000 pennies and honestly I see things that look like errors, like the "L" in liberty being on its side rather than laying flat on the coin but its my understanding that is not considered to be an error, then the double stamping of letters, I see a lot of coins that the letter is messed up and not from damage on the street, but honestly I just do not know if what I am seeing is a double stamp or not. Then I see pictures that say here is an example and I do not see what they are talking about I am not seeing the indication of double stamping, so I am finding all this to be frustrating. And I am using a microscope to make sure I can see up close!

@brandons7272 Жыл бұрын
Yes it is the 1943 steel penny the one he's talking about throughout this entire video... I'm looking around for same thing right now I've got two of the exact same thing you do. Is a light strike on the four and on the other coin the four is barely visible so I'm not sure what the deal is it seems like maybe this is something that's common but don't take it for me cuz I have no idea like I said I'm trying to figure this out now but considering I have two of them kind of makes me think it might not be all that rare. Then again I clean out houses and I've been collecting people's Collections and stuff like that for the past 15 plus years so I've got jars and boxes of wheat pennies many many of them are double dies or die chips or a 1960 d we're pretty much the entire bottom section of the S in the word States is totally filled in. That I found another one which had absolutely no copper on it whatsoever it's almost black you look at it and there's no sign of any type of copper on it whatsoever and I have no idea where I can get all these looked at especially I have a decent amount of them and I've been doing quite a bit of research the past couple months and believe that I'm correct on most of these but at the same time it's freaking impossible to know what coins worth spend if you're wasting someone's Time by looking at it so I don't want to walk in somewhere and be like oh look at all these and look like a complete idiot LOL at the same time I am pretty sure of what I'm looking at but grading the condition of the client is just so slight that I don't feel confident doing it even though once again pretty sure I have a decent idea of what I'm doing and using 20x loops and microscopes in order to really be able to see them. As I mentioned I've been researching these things for hours and and days and now it's been months and I still find it extremely hard to be sure about these things because there's so many different things that people lifeguard don't like and I mean who the hell knows why LOL I know if you found anything out about yours thanks

I just found one with a crooked d. And I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out if these are just stick or if they're double dies
@-oiiio-39934 жыл бұрын
'Master dies' of U.S. coinage are made at Philadelphia, the 'master mint'. Prior to 1989 mintmarks of U.S. coins were not applied to master dies. They were applied to working dies before shipping them to branch mints. This allowed for great variance in mintmark types, alignments, placements, as many working dies would be produced during each production year. Since 1990, mintmarks are applied to master dies to ensure uniformity.

Back then you could buy woman nylons in a plastic eggs, he used the eggs to separate the coins by dimes Penny's, half dollars , silver dollars, silver not ect. I remember he had a ton of wheat Penny's. In particular a couple I never forget. One was a wheat penny 1943bwith Lincoln smoking a cigar. Also there was some letters that didn't get pressed right The second one was a 1943 copper penny. I never thought a penny be worth anything. I remember getting into the coins sometimes to go get a ice cream. In the end when he died in 1991 most of the collection was missing I was not well was pregnant and was on bed rest my mom and stepidiot hired someone to clean out the house. They couldn't do it . They let the hired help get house ready to sell never seen the coins again. God they where... Had to be worth alot.. ugh

I have one that is a double die obverse and double die reverse in ms condition and all the writing on front is doubled and the date is and the 4 looks as though it was stamped over something else and the back has a bunch of doubling and a couple letters look like they have different letters stamped over the E pluribus unum
@johnpauljones46435 жыл бұрын
Wondering what it is worth
@johnpauljones46435 жыл бұрын
