I was metal detecting at an event in the Mojave desert and came across 123 steel pennies all in the same place, buried in the sand, without ANY other coins! I gave all but five to the land owner. It would have been nice to keep them all, they were so cool!

I have 58 steel 1943 pennies. 5 are "D" and the remaining no mint. Several are in good condition. I received these when my father passed. Finally got a coin microscope and while checking them out I came across two 1943's missing the 4. So 19 3... I find it odd the 9 and 3 are visible. On one of the coins you can see the indentation of a 4. I have great photos of each if you care to look. I do not see any scrapes as one might think would be there if scraped/chipped away. If you have a few minutes I'd love to hear from you, Thanks in advance.

I have two of these double die pennies. I found them about 10 years ago while searching a bag of wheaties. I noticed the error and opted to save them thinking they were of little value. Recently I thought I would do a little research about them and discovered this presentation here. Mine would grade somewhere between MS 63 to 65 I would think. Mine are a little different however. The D in the background extends to the right and down a little, but is clearly visible. Sure would love to know the value of these little jewels.

Never Never Never alter any coin or clean it. If you can have a $50,000.00 coin and by changing it by what you are talking about will make it worth to about $50 or if you are lucky you may get 500 dollars for it. Never change it!!!

Some sets have remakes not saying yours does but I know the Lincoln commemorative sets have remakes of the steel Penny's in them so just double check but I hope yours are authentic and that one is a rpmm
