Very thorough only thing I would add for newbies is versafine and other archivel ink pads are also waterproof when heated (check the instructions on the ink pad). Also be aware that clear embossing over waterbased ink pads, if getting very wet can bleed from under the embossing. Using the same stamp in all examples is so helpful, really shows the shading and final effect. Great video as always. Ex

Thank you so much for this super informative and inspiring video, Natalie! I watched your watercolour series, and it was so helpful on how to use my watercolour palette and brushes. Now I would love to learn more on how to use water colour pencils. We have a whole set but I've never used them because I don't feel confident on how to use them well. I also recently bought a set of alcohol markers and I would love an in-depth video on using them and shading, please. Thank you so much Natalie - I learn so much from you and you're so inspiring for a novice crafter like me! 😊

Thank you for this video. I like colouring, but am not very good at it. What I find the most difficult, is making shadows. When someone else make shadows with black and grey pencils, it looks like a shadow. When I do it, it looks like black and grey lines🙄 Same with adding highlight, when I do that, it looks like white lines instead of highlights. Would love a video on that. Have a great weekend Nathalie!

Thank you for sharing the different ways to color, some I’ve done but some were new to me. I really liked the restamping idea. I use GinaK amalgam ink for all my coloring then there is no guessing which ink to use. For blending with color pencils I use a paper stump dipped in gambol, it’s my preferred way of coloring.

I usually color in my stamps with colored pencils as I feel I have more control with the tip of the pencil in small areas. I have just about every type of markers and I think I need to sort what I have in the way of markers so I know what type I have and keep each of the different types together. I am learning so much here today. Unfortunately, I'm not feeling well, so I know I will have to go over the info again. I appreciate so much your help for those of us that really need it! This was a terrific video. I have tons of colored pencils and some came with the stumps but I never quite what to do with them. This is the first time I have seen them in action. I wanted to jot a note and as per usual I reached for my regular handwriting pencil. I have always perferred pencils to ink pens and I wonder if that is why I like using colored pencils the best. I got some cute elephant stamps the other day and two were holding balloons. I colored them in pencil and then added a white gel pen highlight to each balloon. I was stunned at how just that tiny bit of white added so much to the colored stamp. Thank you again.

So many choices! I have never worked with colored pencils. (But now you've shown me how to use them!) I've had success with most of these methods but am still practicing with watercolors and alcohol markers. For me, alcohol markers are the most unforgiving. I also have chalk pastels, which I do not use because I don't like the chalky feel. However, I refuse to get rid of them because they were costly. 🙄😂 This has been a very informative video and I thank you for sharing your expertise! 🩷

A really good video. I have the spectrum triblend markers which I find really convenient as you have the three shades in one pen. It has cut down my hunting time for the right combo of shades. You mentioned that you were going to re-ink one as it was running out. I didn't know that was a thing. Are they readily available and is it easy to do? Also, I was told in my school art classes, it is better to have a slightly textured paper when you use pencils. That was a long time ago and I know things/ideas change. Sorry about all the questions etc.
@nbcascards
@nbcascards 4 күн бұрын
Thanks, Kathy! I know you can get reinkers from Spectrum Noir, but I've yet to try it myself. I'm trying to decide whether to invest in reinkers for the tri-blend markers, or whether to upgrade to copics. I've used smooth cardstock for coloured pencils ever since an artist friend of mine recommended it. I think it's easier to get subtle variation on smooth. x
