He woke up to a show where the floor, furniture, and everything else was talking, and immediately wondered how high he still was. Years later he found out it was Pee Wee's Playhouse.

If Pee-Wee’s Playhouse made your dad think that he was on a weird drug trip....then that show was really bizarre and outlandish. I grew up watching it as a small kid, and my young mind didn’t believe that it was all that weird. Of course, shows like that wouldn’t be weird to a kid under 10 years old.

+Ryan Good - They probably didn't mean this, but more expensive CRTs boasted a "Flat screen" as opposed to the bulbous ones, and were called flatscreens. When "flat panel" TVs came along, everyone just started calling them flatscreens instead since that word was already around, and we apparently collectively decided the word had always meant that.

+Ryan Good There are flat screen CRTs. You are confusing 'flat screen' TVs with 'flat panel' TVs. Old TVs used to have con-vexed curved screens, then 'flat screen' TVs came out which were still big, bulky and CRT based they just didn't have the curved screen. Later 'flat panel' TVs came out (LCDs and Plasmas) which also had flat screens but didn't originate that screen type. Ironionally now we're getting curved screens again (only this time they're con-caved)

The last one , Super Jail. Crazy stuff but I remember being amused by some of it thanks to the Willy Wonka - like Warden. It's extra cool that the person who came up with it ended up voicing the warden. After looking it up , turns out I've seen that other show you mentioned , don't remember how much I liked it or not , but probably watched any way just because it was / is so different from most shows.

One thing Courage the Cowardly Dog never gets enough credit for, or at least I've never heard anybody comment on, is just how well framed the show is. Any shot, regardless of if it's silly, grotesque or weird, is very well balanced giving it a more artistic feel than most cartoons.

I'm blown away that we lost Paul Reubens. I was glad when I saw him doing a handful of roles in the early 2000's. I probably wouldn't let him be alone with my kids, but I largely was willing to look past his controversy that took him off of PeeWee's Playhouse. So much I could say, but I really enjoyed his work.

I literally grew up watching pee wee herman as a kid. I loved it and his pee wee mobies as well. When i saw him in bkow as a drugged up gay man hairstylist, it bkew me away amd i then realized how great of an actor he truly was. Flat panel TVs weren't a thing when Courage the Cowardly Dog was on the air. The only people who had them were filthy rich. If you had a big screen, it was either a monster tube TV that no one could move, or a projector TV that nobody at an angle could watch.
