Also the engineers in the team live in more tense pressure then the team manager of a football team who always jumps and screams near the pitch. Joachim Rindt was a posthumous world champion even after he was burned alive in a race. No other sports also contributes to technology. Lots of tech today evolved or were developed in racing - from carbon fiber, aerodynamics, material compounds/alloys, to tire treads. Do yourself a favor and watch the Senna documentary.
