Effects that grant a monster extra attack points is one of the most common and oldest effects in the game, and it's actually a pretty weak effect, unless the attack boost is absolutely massive. In this list will be going over some of the worst cards that technically have this positive effect.

I am sad because it is an interesting concept, but many of their effect and/or stats are not good, even against a light attribute deck. They do have a couple decent Syncho monster worth having in the extra deck or side deck.

Ally of Justice is what happens when you prioritize lore (in this case, the Duel Terminal storyline of a few tribes banding together to exterminate the Worm invaders) over practicality. Although there are a few deck types and archetypes that are Light-type heavy, and Light is arguably the #2 attribute in the game after Dark, making a group that specifically goes after only Light-types hinders their true potential. Similar to how Meklords are weak against anything that isn't Synchro.

I'm still surprised that Nanana was actually printed as a real card considering it was kind of just a joke. It appeared in the 777 episode of Yu-Gi-Oh, and its entire effect is a reference to the Japanese television channel it aired on for all those years. The weird banana is the mascot of that Channel, and it's there and has that effect because it's Channel 7 on Japanese television.

Omg right that means it can’t even proc it’s own effect unless you increase it’s attack by some other means. At least Raging Flame Sprite has 100 attack baseline, so it can proc it’s attack boosting effect on it’s own, AND it doesn’t have to wait until the standby phase to raise it’s attack! Holy crap the more I research mucus yolk the worse it gets!

Honestly, the thing about Machine King is that it at least came out very early in the game's history. Like, in the OCG, it came out before Jinzo; it was probably one of the first tribute monsters ever to have an effect. It would still have suffered next to Summoned Skull, but I think if you were playing a casual Machine deck, it would be a potential good option. Now, Wodan the Resident of the Forest? That dude is the real shit.

Tbf Exodia Necross probably saw some play back the goat format and it being immune to spell/trap which made it hard to get rib out normally as it cannot be destroyed by raikegi and dark hole which was staple on all deck and it probably being unbeatable after equip with rush and staying at least 2 turn This list is about cards that no one either ever seen or bad even in the format that ss is barely a thing

I was curious to see how many cards added 300 ATK in some form, and apparently it's over 100 cards. You could make an archetype around getting effects off of cards gaining that much ATK from an activated effect, like drawing a card or milling each time.

In my opinion, Vendread Slayer probably has a lackluster attack gain effect. I've used him in my ritual Zombie deck, and his attack boost gain (which is permanent) is rarely needed or used (you have to banish a Vendread card to use it). I get the Vendread are a battle focus archtype, but gaining 300 attack for banishing resources would definitely put it on this list

Not really when you considered shiranui existed which prop their effect if they're banished. Even though the atk increase is really minor,at least it help shiranui prop their effect while other 10 cards on the list doesn't synergy other cards whatsoever

First ones I thought of: Swamp Battleguard and Lava Battleguard. (2 old cards from early Yugioh.) Both at Level 5, 1800 & 1550 attack, and they gain 500 attack for each copy of the other one that's on the field. That means you need to summon multiple specific monsters, each requiring a separate tribute, to see any benefits, and even during the early days those benefits were still inferior to the regular high level vanilla monsters that were available at the time. And they didn't make the list.

-Bri-synchron gundam is only for normal, non-effect synchros. -Infernal incenerator shares summoning requirement with galaxy eyes except galaxy eyes uses it as a special summon and not tribute requirement. -you can abuse infernal incenerator by the use of reverse trap.

i love attack boosts, they are probably my favorite type of effect even tho they are not that good, however one has to achknowledge that when comparing boosts you have to take things like mage power and united we stand as the baseline and anything worse is terrible (im sure even mage power and united we stand are considered so bad not even rouge stratagies would consider running them but they put in perspective how bad most things are)

Garadholg believe it or not was the cause of one of my first wins in Duel Links. The very early days of the game was all about being the best beatstick you could be and I had a pretty sucky deck at the time because of it. However my opponent apparently didn't read the text of Garadholg at all and attacked with Neo, a 1700 atk LIGHT monster with no equip cards to help it out so he lost the battle against my sneaky boost. The card is still awful but it did have that one notable use for me I still remember.

I think that honor goes to Gateway of the Six. Effectively infinite Atk Boosts, and most importantly infinite searches from anywhere and summons from GY. And the Atk boost effect IS used for pretty obvious reasons, even if not as much as the other two.

I have an idea for a monster effect like this: A level one pendulum tuner with 0 ATK/DEF that can be brought out as a tribute summon of any number of monsters you control (normal or special summon, your choice) to take any single type and or attribute of the monsters tributes, with a spell speed four ATK/DEF gain of 50 for every single phase in every turn, along with a matching LP gain. So, barring anything that adds/subtracts phases in a turn, that’s 300 gained in LP, ATK and DEF. It’s meager, but it should add up quickly and be fairly tricky to circumvent at least. And the effect could be amplified for each monster of the same name on the field at once (or as a a single fusion monster of such three cards), so that’d be a 900 ATK/DEF gain for each individual monster per turn, along with a 2700 (900 from each one times 3 of them being out at once) per turn boost in LP on _ALL_ turns, which would add up MUCH faster.

I think Rai Jin is not that bad, since it gives a booster for all your light monsters. It can help you push for game and if you win, the maintenance cost it doens't matter. At least is better than insect queen.

What made Garadholg even worse is that, by that point, there were several level 4 vanilla beasticks with better attack... including Mechanicalchaser, wich was both DARK and Machine, has higher attack than Garadholg battling a LIGHT monster and was released years earlier.

Forever love my Red Supernova Dragon who starts with 4k attack gaining 500 per tuner in the GY which you need 3 to summon so starting with 5,500 while basically being unkillable with its ability on top of cannot be destroyed by card effects all while being insanely consistent to summon

They really missed a trick with Garadholg. If they would have either: A. Made it a tuner, or B. Made the attack boost 2000 instead of 200, it would have seen some play. A level 4 Dark tuner without a downside would have been worth using at the time it was released...and if they essentially made it "Ally of Justice: Cipher Soldier", it would have been worthy anti-lightsworn tech at the time.

One thing to know about insect queen is it was made during battle city, in which the rules were really weird. For example, tokens didn't take a monster zone in battle city, so you could just have an infinite amount of tokens and boost insect queen accordingly

I feel like there are plenty of worse or at least equally bad options you missed, especially from the early days. Hourglass of Courage, Goddess of Whim, Sword Hunter, The Little Swordsman of Aile, Mucus Yolk, and Wodan the Resident of the Forest, Banner of Courage, Pyramid Energy, Graceful Dice, most Equip and Field Spells from 2002, and most old Union monsters are all worthy of consideration. And from a few years later, Phantom Dragonray Bronto and Goggle Golem are also pretty bad because they're Gemini monsters.

Hi Duellogs, Maybe a top 10 cards *insert anime character* used in there respective Yugioh TV show for example top 10 cards Marik used in Yugioh or Top 10 cards crowler used in Yugioh GX. Just a thought i had as I'd love to understand what cards they used that would be considered good in today's Yugioh standards :)

I remember use 3 sub of temple with inferno recless os the sun. i used to send 3 boost monster with same name and bring them with inferno. Were like 2400 attack extra for all my monsters in my zombie deck in the past. Indont know in my Servant skull deck with fordinen cards worked a lot XD

7:27 Highest Atk for a level 4 monster with no effect is 1900. 11:30 Shows Gene-Warped Warwolf with 2000 Atk.

So something like Lunalight Kaleido Chick, whose effect to replace its own name is far less important than the cost being sending a Lunalight card of your choice from your deck (or extra deck, i guess) to the graveyard, when most Lunalight cards have graveyard effects. And of course, because the Foolish Burial aspect of the effect is the COST, it can't be negated. Which pairs quite well with Lunalight Tiger, which can special summon Kaleido Chick from the graveyard with its effect negated... but you can still Foolish Burial your card, because according to Kaleido Chick, that's the COST, not the EFFECT.

I replace Master Craftsman Gamil with Gauntlet Warrior because unlike the later Gamil could also use its effect from the hand.
