Yea.. Faith Hill is a very underrated singer. She's very low key but is also known for a massive voice but just a quite girl. She leaves it to her husband to stay in the spotlight but her performance of this song should be more well known cause besides Whitney and Mariah she is coming in very strong with her version . Great vocalist and country singer so maybe check her out a little more.. Reba is my queen but Martina McBride and Faith Hill can both stand out in a crowd of great voices.

Whitney Houston set the standard for the anthem, don't care what anyone else does or says to try to top her, she IS the standard. Also, glad I'm not alone in not being a huge fan of Jennifer Hudson. It's not that she can't sing, but her tone hurts my ears, I always find myself cringing.

This conversation is proof positive that it's all about preference. I love Jennifer Hudson, she gives me goosebumps, although I have to admit she should stay away from the high notes, but she takes me where I want to go otherwise. Some of the other belters that are well liked I don't really care for, not that they can't sing just not my cup of tea. I repeat...it's all about preference.

Whitney's version is the best of all time. I remember tears flowing from my eyes when I watched it on TV live. I'm Canadian by the way which might give you an idea of just how good it was. It was also the last time I saw "joy" in her singing. I actually bought her DVD because it contained this version on it. I would have bought it at any price.

I agree with you on Faith Hill - she should have been ranked higher in terms of emotions and downright vocal prowess - more than Mariah and Beyonce in my opinion. Great tempo and goosebumps indeed - I have it on my iPod. Ironically, this is my favorite one because it eclipsed or head to head with Whitney's version. Both versions were definitely during the height of their popularity with music and mainstream. :) I'd say do a reaction video of Faith Hill's version too.

One that they left off of this list and actually deserved to be recognized as one of the better ones, was probably because whoever made this list only cared about sporting events and didn't go with other events. was WWE's Lillian Garcia, who belted out an incredibly heartfelt and emotional national anthem despite being in tears only the day after the 9/11 attacks. She deserves special mention for not only having a beautifully haunting and memorable rendition but also sine it was the first organized public gathering after the 9/11 attack, and she nailed it even despite all that pressure to do it justice.
