As I was looking around in an attempt to get my brain going, a girl was holding up the same page that the question was on and I accidentally saw her answer, and I knew it was right. An event that I think could have made this list but probably doesn't have enough video footage is Soviet modern pentathlete Boris Onishchenko wiring his epee sword to trigger a hit without hitting his opponent in the 1976 Olympics. He got caught when two British competitors were charged with a hit against them even though no one saw them get touched.

She was given the polygraph by a third party and took it live on a stream and passed and there has been zero proof that has surfaced that she cheated on any way Ironically an investigation showed an employee stealing 5k in chips from her pile when the event cameras were turned off but not the casino cameras I haven't found an article confirming she returned the winnings to the accuser either. It may have happened, just saying I having found anything saying it yet

@@stevekombolis3542 TBF people put way too much stock in polygraph tests anyway. Well I should say some people do. There is a good reason they aren't admissible in Court. I totally agree it would be interesting to know what the accusation stems from. I mean if they want to put it on the list of worst scandals then it should at least be known HOW it happened(the rest were pretty clear what the cheating was supposed to be, or you could look up the whole story of what was supposed to have happened without any effort).

Agreed. There's no explanation of cheating, only an accusation of cheating. If she did cheat, how was it done? Saying she "somehow beat his hand" doesn't really cover it, I think. The same approach applies to the chess cheating - no explanation for how it was done, only an accusation.

@@GardnerLepp The Chess Cheating scandal one was I believe proven by doing the exact same moves on chess strategy computer programs and got the same results. Plus, I believe, he did a move that a professional chess player would not do at the beginning of the match, hence the allegation of cheating.

The Black Sox were guilty. Unfortunately the film Eight Men Out made excuses for the players that were untrue. Some clains so blatantly wrong that they can be disproved by merely looking at MLB stats. E.g. The claim that Eddie Cicotte was benched to avoid paying him a $10K bonus for winning 30 games is absured. Kid Gleason gave Cicotte four more starts after Cicotte had already won 29 games. Also because of the court trial we have a copy of Cicotte's contract. There is no mention of any promise of a bonus, whereas Bucky and Shoeless Joe both had possible bonuses written into their contracts.

The reason it was called the Black Sox scandal had nothing to do with the scandal itself. They were nicknamed the Black Sox because their owner, Charles Comiskey refused to pay to have their uniforms washed. Stating the players should pay for it themselves. In protest, they refused to wash their gear and their socks became almost black. Also their star pitcher was benched after his 29th win because he was promised a bonus if he won 30. Yeah, Charles Comiskey was a cheap piece of garbage. If he wasn't, the team wouldn't have thrown the series. Also, Kennesaw Mountain Landis, the self appointed Commissioner of Baseball was such a piece of garbage and racist that baseball wasn't integrated until 2 years after he died.
