Dinosaurs. The show was funny, heartfelt, colorful, and even touching. It has likable characters, fantastic costume and set designs, and a sort of modern take on the Flintstones formula that even the Flintstones Movie didn’t quite get. It was a delight to see what the Sinclairs would get into each episode, and how they’d get back out of it. Then that last episode hit, and the most creative show of its time ended with the bleakest, most depressing final scene and shot ever. We knew the Age of Dinosaurs would eventually end. We just didn’t expect to see a version of it played out here. The ending should have been in keeping with the rest of the show. Maybe the family just sits and watches TV together, years later, with Fran and Earl old and grey, Charlene and Robbie bringing their own kids (maybe an egg in a nest) to visit, and Baby graduating from college or about to. Just the family reflecting on their memories, and then deciding to watch TV or eat dinner instead.

At least "Game of Thrones" had an entire season to go off the rails. I could deal with Barney and Robin splitting up five minutes into the finale, Barney reverting back to his womanising ways and fathering a daughter, or Tracy ultimately dying. But having Ted reveal that he sat his kids down with the purpose of asking them to allow him to get back together with Robin, and them being totally fine with it, is just a slap in the face.
@MysticClaws100 Жыл бұрын
I don't find it hard to believe that they would be fine with it. The mom had been dead for 6 years at that point, they probably just wanted to see him happy. But that being the reason he's telling this whole story is just stupid and the fact that this is the scene the audience sees right after the mother dying makes it much harder for the audience to get. Literally 15 seconds after we find out the mom is dead, we then find out this was all just an attempt to get back with Robin. It makes her death seem so cheap and her character seem like a stepping stone for Ted to be with Robin

For real. Chuck wrote their lives giving us 15 glorious seasons. But with Him gone and The Winchesters to write their own stories, Dean dies? Dean doesn't get to live his own life??? 😭Wierd to say this, but it looks like Chuck out-lived Dean and got his "ending" to his story (kind of). Dean could have grown old and just had any life rather than just dying....TO A RUSTY NAIL and by vampires which he has killed 100 times! 😡😭 I know Dean wanted to go out hunting but this is ridiculous. HE NEEDS A LIFE OF HIS OWN!!! Or they could have just ended it with them driving into the sunset to their next hunt, like an incomplete ending. I know it sounds cliche but it wouldn't be so heartbreaking...😭 I'm glad Sam had a life, but Dean lived for a few minutes without Sam, but Sam would have to live for 40+ years without Dean with survivor's guilt. Also, I wish Cas and Jack made an appearance in the finale.😢😭😭 The only good thing was that they got the ending that they wanted, not that we wanted.

How I Met Your Mother’s ending would have worked if the show only lasted 3 seasons (which, judging by the extreme decline in quality in the later seasons, might’ve been a good idea). By the end though, it ran counter to everything the show was about. Character progression was undone. Entire seasons were made worthless. And Ted, already a pretty unlikable protagonist, was made into a complete uncaring jerk, who treated the mother like nothing more than a baby factory until she kicked the bucket and he could go back to the woman that is his worst potential match.

The Wild Wild West in the 1960s has a bad one. Due to an error in release order, the last one not only has it missing Artemus Gordon (as it was an episode filmed when the late Ross Martin was still out recovering from a heart attack)… It had Jim West telling a woman to go cook and then a “little woman” joke. @@davidz3879 Yeah, thought it was an interesting conceit. Also it couldn’t just spend the WHOLE season on the Ted and the mother cause that would be a disservice to the characters. I liked that we saw Tracy over the course of the season and slowly learnt about her life. Her flashback episode was genius. It was the high point of the season where it gave her character actual meaningful backstory rather than just this amorphous figure she’d been previously. I even wouldn’t have minded her dying in the finale because that gives a reason for Ted to tell the story in the first place. It was the rolling back of ALL the character development in the final episode that I hated. Ted had properly moved on from Robin, there was a whole episode about it. Barney became a good man not a sleaze. The final destroyed all that. All of it. The final season was flawed but had a lot of good and gave the characters good arcs yet the final episode ruined it.

Me, too. I just don't even bother watching Season 8.

Hahahaha, 3rd rock from the Sun alternative ending is too strong: naked alien abduction would be so much better.

The last episode of Married...With Children was disappointing, but I think the reason is that it wasn't supposed to be the last episode. The show was cancelled before they made a legit last episode. And I can't wait for the last episode of SNL. That show hasn't been even slightly funny in almost 20 years. Writing sucks, guests are boring, and the cast is beyond pathetic. They have absolutely no charisma or screen presence at all. Its like watching college community theater

The ending to St. Elsewhere was stupid, confusing, and totally pointless. I was left saying "What the $@& ending was that?!?"

The entire ending was a big middle finger to the legacy of the show.

Most of these are down to the writers/ producers getting to full of themselves

Funny coincidence that I watched the 3rd Rock finale last night, for the first time. I didn't have a problem with how it ended, though I was surprised the writers left it so long for Mary to find out the Solomon's were aliens. I think a season of her being in the know had real comic potential.

I'm not a huge HIMYM fan, but to me, the ending didn't take anything away from the relationship he had with "the mother", but the fact is that she's no longer around and life goes on, as heartbreaking as it may be. Following the same logic, I don't think that it necessarily means that Ted and Robin "end up together", it means that they have been on and off, that it sometimes worked and other times did not. The characters theoretically matured and what worked at one point didn't work at another and at that end of the show, both characters may be at a point where they would be able to bring each other happiness. Idk, maybe I'm overthinking what ended up being a show that aged badly very fast.

Once I found out about the Purple Yellow Theory for HIMYM, I saw the ending in a completely different light.

I will defend the ending of Dexter until the day I die. The ending of New Blood was giving into pressure and delivering a basic, boring ending

I thought Lost would be number 1… can’t believe it didn’t even make the list. Also, I get why people have an issue with HIMYM, but I really didn’t find it triggering. Thought it was sweet. Not brilliant writing, but sweet.

There are so many TV shows but Mojo seems to circle back round to How I Met Your Mother and Rosanne for everything top 10. By halfway through your list I was looking for Lost, another Mojo old faithful. However, I did appreciate the obscure reference to the Monty Python song, I’m a Lumberjack.

Blakes Seven. I watched that as it went out live. It is a great final scene and a worst final scene because it is a really good and bold way to end it. But those of us watching it back then didn't want it to end like that. Mind you it was intended as both a series ender if needs be but also a cliffhanger if it was recommissioned. And then it didn't get the latter so ended up being the former. Supergirl. The last half season got horribly smug and self righteous. And that final scene is the epitomy of the 'hey kids you can get everything you want in life!' teaching children seem to get these days. Moments right before it were great though, purely thanks to Calista Flockhart's appearance and acting. .
