You wouldn't be able to run a .die file like a .exe file, that's not an executable extension. It's likely a kind of file extension the downloader changed it to in order to get around copyrighted game files. If you put it in winrar and change the filename it should work properly. Yeah, I know that's not the point, but I'm pretty sure most of these creepypasta writers would've been spooked by a file that's just trying to run in the wrong program.
