Walton's continued without Richard Thomas, Doctor Quinn medicine woman got replacements for both the daughter and the Barber, On Batman they had 3 different women play Catwoman, also 3 different guys play Mr. Freeze and 2 different guys play Riddler, and also created a Puzzler that was similar to the Riddler. John Hart Replaced Clayton Moore on the Lone Ranger.

Yes they did but JR was voted the most evil character on tv and Larry Haggman 's portrayal of him was iconic and I highly doubt people would have ever accepted a recast. If you are a soap fan it would be like replacing Macdonald Carey as Dr. Tom Horton (a role he played from day on in 1964 until very prior to his death in the early 1990's.

You guys are broken on Dallas. 1) It wasn't a reboot. A reboot means you throw all continuity out the window and start from scratch. The TNT version of Dallas was most definitely *NOT* that. It was a continuation of the same stories that existed from the original show, just 20 years later (although they did declare the two reunion movies now non canon). 2) As someone who watched the original show almost from Day 1 through till the bitter end (plus the two reunion movies), I can say that the TNT version was AWESOME! I loved it. The way they handled the real life death of Larry Hagman was nothing short of spectacular!. it doesn't belong on this list anywhere.

I only heard of the Knight Rider reboot but I can understand why it got the axe after seeing the clips. Val Kilmer as Kitt I mean really he had no class like the original and even so it looked pretty much like something you would fall asleep over and not miss. I also wanted to like the Charlie's Angels reboot but it really lacked the fun of the original and even so there are reasons why the original got axed. I can only say that ABC was banking on the successful theatrical movies that came out as Drew Barrymore was involved in the reboot of CA.

@dressshoeguy, not to mention this was the third time a Knight Rider reboot was attempted. I give the producers points for having David Hasselhoff return in the pilot episode. Better writing and stronger action scenes could have helped the show tremendously. Still, Machinama is working on a new version and from what I read it sounds like it could work, especially since David Hasselhoff is one of the producers.

"Reboot" is the brand new catchphrase BUZZWORD that Hollywood likes to use now, much like how everything was EXTREME back in the 90s. It has been three years now, and they are STILL referring to continuations and sequel series as REBOOTS. If a bunch of NEW DIFFERENT actors and actresses portray the same characters a group of former actors and actresses portrayed, like Dragnet, Hawaii Five-O, Dynasty, Battlestar Galactica, etc. , then, yes, THAT is a REBOOT. But if the SAME actors come back (much) later and portray the same characters, like Get Smart, Night Court, Punky Brewster, Dallas, Saved By The Bell, Mad About You, etc., then, NO, that is NOT a reboot, THAT is a SEQUEL SERIES. (Much like how actors portray the same people two or three years later in a movie sequel) Shows like Knight Rider, Quantum Leap, and Charlie's Angels are continuations. They have different actors portraying completely different characters that have a "connection" to the original show. (Notice how these shows seem to revolve around an organization of some sort). It is "like" a sequel series, but they don't have the same actors or the same characters, but they do "refer" to the original characters from time to time. It is like when you have an apple, an orange, and a banana. They are all fruit, but they are also quite different.

I actually kinda liked the knight rider reboot. Sure it was a little rough around the edges, but the later episodes were pretty good and I think if it hadn't been canceled it would've turned into a pretty good show. Also the only reason they didn't use a trans am for kitt was because pontiac stopped making trans ams in 2002. And you can't really deny that using a mustang made kitt so much more badass.

I only watched one episode of the rebooted Knight Rider and, at the time, it was because I heard that Legendary Voice Actor Peter Cullen provided the voice for (I think he was called) KARR. What I got was ridiculous dialogue, an actress who looked like she was mourning a paper cut rather than the loss of her character’s father, and five minuets of my Childhood Hero repeating a line similar to the one he brilliantly delivered in Transformers: The Movie (1986)!

mk6rfc1 I thought it was pretty decent, but it should have stuck with what was established in the pilot movie, which provided everything necessary for a series, the car, the driver, an executive director, a small support team, and even a government liaison. It would've been good to see FLAG flourish alongside the FBI. They added one extraneous character for the series (the new head of the team was just annoying, but I actually liked the two new technicians), and formally re-establish FLAG out of the blocks. Their serialized government based KARR resurrection storyline was just too much, and tried to add something that wasn't necessary. And if you're going to have the Knight 3000 mass shift, have him do so ONLY to cars. Having him be a truck or a van is just a little too fantastical - leave that to Michael Bay's Transformers. What they did later on really did work, with episodes be similar in tone to the classic series, and should have been that way from Day One. And you leave the door open for the original Michael Knight and the Knight 2000 to return. And at least use a GM brand. When people think of Knight Rider, KITT's original black t-top was iconic. Switching to Ford, even if it was a high end Shelby Cobra, did not instill any level of confidence. Next time, use the current Camaro in all black, even if you need to pay through the nose.

The only reason why the continuation of DALLAS ended so soon was because of the death of Larry Hagman because,believe it or not,J.R. wasn't just the villain in the show he was the show. DALLAS was about mostly everyone being virtually obsessed with concerning themselves about J.R. and how to defeat or stop him and in the continuation of the series it was about the same thing but this time around it was about (1) passing the torch to his son,John Ross and (2) defeating or stopping John Ross.

For a reboot, it has to be all new actors portraying the characters of the past show. Dallas is not actually a reboot, since they have the same actors from the original show portraying the roles that they originally done with. The Charlie's Angels is a second reboot since the first reboot came out in late 1980s. The Twilight Zone was rebooted in the 1980s with a young David Faustino before Married with Children.

Dallas shouldn't really be on this list because it's more of a continuation of the original series rather than a reboot. It has the same cast and everything, with the only major difference being the focus is more on the younger Ewing generation now. It was also really only cancelled because it just wasn't the same without JR. Having said that, it was still a good show and wasn't terrible at all.

Just life moving on from flip phones to smartphones with all the social media stuff and its downsides. Some might remember a few years ago a Halloween special called "Mockingbird Lane" which was the pilot of a new Munsters show but one episode and almost $1M later just for the one episode, it was canceled. Pretty much any NBC show, reboot or otherwise, has not favored well with the general public in the 21st century.

Research is fundamental here. Dallas, Get Smart, and Knight Rider were all "next generation" sequel series, NOT reboots. While the latter two never found traction, Dallas was very well received, to the point that it made it to a third season in spite of how heavily it was screwed by the network.

The Knight Rider 2008 show was supposed to be a continuation of the original. That's how it was established in the pilot. Instead when the first episode aired, the producers mucked it up and made it into a reboot.

I honestly liked the new Knight rider and as someone who grew up in the 80's loving the original I thought it deserved more of a chance. I was good to finally see something that wasn't just a carbon copy

Problems I had with Dragnet was 1st they made it a one hour show. It's kind of sad that only comedies can be a 1/2 hour in prime time. 2nd thing they did was they made every episode about murder (basically). Dragnet (from the 60s) covered everything from murder to drugs to kidnapping to forgery "bunko," cops on hospital duty, a day at the office, public relations and the counter culture of the time, police brutality. Jack Webb was beyond faithful to telling the story and more often then not when he as Joe Friday did something, you know the legal and "cop" reasons that he did it. You can't do a cop today unless there is some chance of violence happening. Too bad.

You know the list is garbage when one spot they criticize a show for having soap oprea vibe when modern audiences want something more real and dark like Game of Thrones.
