This is a great reason not to rush out and buy new consoles. Besides being hard to get, not having enough games, and having outrageously marked up prices, you're breaking your back to buy a system that likely will have some issues. It's better to wait and get them cheaper (I ended up getting a PS4 with 3 Uncharted games for about $250 a year after it's original release, I didn't miss out on anything buying it a year later), with more games, and when they get a chance to fix the problems from the initial release.

Actually, if you were able to get your hands on a 1st generation ps5 it's probably going to be better than the 2nd generation, as Sony has already made it known they are going with cheaper parts for future generations of the ps5.

Dude forreal. I was one of the few kids back then who wanted a PS3 back then because you could play all PS games that came before, had bluray, built in rechargeable battery, FREE ONLINE, slightly better graphics, store games in the HDD, was black and sleek, and way more reliable. People's argument back then was lol the triggers and thumbsticks were better. The Dpad was ass though and almost everyone I knew had one were using black Friday to buy Xbox gold and the battery packs. And definitely had the red ring once or twice a year

I fixed game consoles for a gaming store between 2012-2014 and this video brought up some interesting memories. I think I saw the Red Ring far more often than the Yellow Light, but an Xbox 360 came back far more often than a PS3. Most of the consoles I repaired were able to work after a reflow and some board modifications.

A few defects of my time. Snes: Ac power adapter was a 2/3 ping that was covered by a metal jacket, yet it would come out causing the system to not allow a power adapter to insert. I went through a few snes because of this and was the 1st time i had ever used nintendo customer support. Original 3ds: The original design of the 3ds had lifted screen edges that 1. Would scratch the view screen when closed and 2. Would scratch the control hardware. Day 1 launch Xbox 1 Controller: The analog sticks for this controller had sharp edges around the analogs. When ever you pressed forward or in any direction it would grind into the analog pretty much cutting and warping the analogs and controller frame. Nintendo switch power A controllers (officially licended by nintendos approval): These 3rd party controllers that nintendo backs have a very terrible A button that will get stuck after extensive use and play (roughly a week of smash). Compared to original Game Cube controllers that still have functionality on a button.

I haven't suffered the joycon drift for a while now. I did when I first got my switch and it annoyed the hell out of me while playing ACNH or Minecraft. But it hasn't been an issue for a while, now. I, also, alternate between the joycons and an actual controller. which can contribute to the lack of joycon drift. So if I did have any recently, I don't notice because of my ACNH character's constant running around after the 2.0 update.

The Joycon problem was fixed by a youtuber awhile ago. The problem most of the time is the analog housing loosing contact with the receiver thingies. It's a quick fix too, all you need is to open up the controller and stick a square or two of cardboard under the housing and that holds it where its supposed to be. I did it with mine a couple weeks ago and have had no trouble since

I don't know of anyone who didn't have an issue with the original NES cartridge slot if they owned one for any length of time. PS3 yellow light happened to me on two different models, fortunately enough it happened two years into ownership of each model and worked well enough that Gamestop still provided significant trade in value on each unit at the time. Bought my first PS4 for less than $80.00, out of pocket, bundled with a Batman Arkham game. PS4 doesn't matter the model they all have fan/ overheating issues, two different models, and our current 1TB slim has to be taken apart every few months to clean the fan, heat sink, and vent to prevent overheating.

Okay my list based off of experience since these zoomers voters mess up the list. Joycon drift was nothing compared to these. Nobody had a virtual boy. 3. Connector pins in the NES. 2. PS2 slim power connector always Frickin broke. 1. Red Ring Xbox 360. This was the first major issue in a console where you couldn't buy something to fix it and it was super widespread when the console was new that made the console completely unplayable. This is what made repair shops for consoles mainstream. My older brother and his friends all got the red ring just by playing. You had to be there to know how bad it was.

On the NES, other than blowing on the cartridge, we used to tap on the left side while pressing the reset button. I had a PS1 that I had to turn upside down to work. I never got around to fixing the PS2 when it stopped reading discs so buying the 60gb PS3 (my favorite) from launch was a no-brainer considering the backwards compatibility…and yes, I got the YLOD, but only after 5 years.

@@MeanNGreen17 Okay a close second I'd say was how buggy the launch PS5 was. Literally crashed multiple times a day. My brother had to send it in as well as the broken triggers on the Dualsense. Launch PS5 was unplayable for the most part whole playing 3rd party games like COD.

Down voted for putting controller problems higher than console problem. At least on the rare occasion when my joy con controller drifts beyond I can always get a new one for roughly $30-$40 each. But if it with a console like the Xbox 360 I have to pay hundreds of dollars to get it replaced

You also what a carrying case to travel with the whole system as well. You also need a glass screen protector for it. You also need a extra set of joycons as well also the pro controller is great as well. When I got mine. I spent like 100 $ to get everything

I don't know if this counts as a defect but whenever I'm using the Wii if I'm far away enough like I'm not pointing at the screen, sometimes I've seen where the cursor does flip out a bit or glitch a bit. Is that like drift for the Wii? Like say I'm sitting on a couch that's reasonably far from the TV, if I just lazily point at the TV it's like it doesn't register that I'm pointing at it and the cursor glitches but when I outstretch my hand to point at the TV then it follows my movements. That sometimes annoys me

I’ve heard that this problem can happen with any controller with an analog stick, however I’ve never experienced it before getting a Switch. Huge pain in the ass.
