Great video, and it’s hard to disagree with any of your picks. I’m guessing you don’t consider Hull 181 an X-Men book, but it was odd to see Wolverine 1 on the list. I’d love to see a video about some NOT safe X-Men books you like, where you think the risk is outweighed by the reward. Books like 164, 256 or other MCU specs.

Its amazing...we sold at least 2,000 copies of Wolverine 1 in my store in small city in Alabama in 1980s...got to be stocks of them even now...:-). Of course you have to have a copy in 9/8 condition. My ersonal copies probably got sold to Lone Star Comics in late 1980s. :-).

Hey Dave I always watch your channel you are very informative. Well talking about the first kitty pride I bought that a little more than a year ago X-Men 129 9.6 $450. X-Men 101 the first Phoenix I paid $900 9.4. Well I have said time and time again that most of the key older books nobody could afford those anymore and I don’t work for 10 years I can’t do that. But if I want something badly I would have to sell one of my remaining great books. I’m not sure if I am willing to get rid of my superman and Batman 1 5.0 restored and I sure as hell will not get rid of my amazing fantasy 15 6.0.

Hard to disagree with those picks. I think books like X-Men 1, 4, and 12 were always the go to early books for collectors, and are pretty straightforward. As other choices in the early part of the run I would add 28, 49, and 50 as solid investments.

X-men 3 has gone up quite a bit. 1st Blob. Would like to get that one as it’s probably the closest you can come to a #1 without paying insane prices for. Would like an X-Men 1 someday but by the time you save up for that, you could buy a new car with that much money.

C’mon. It’s a dangerous, incorrect and misleading method to compare a huge key comic to the S&P or a portfolio that’s meant to grow steadily over time. You all know what investing in the 500 does long term. Very few of any people have either enough of the books, can sell them or make enough on them to sustain themselves over time. A collectible should be a minority of any financial portfolio, and Bronze Age or late Silver isn’t even a mature market. Quite volatile actually. I like your show but hyping comics over smart long term realistic investment is not good.
@ComicBookInvestments3 жыл бұрын
I think you should diversify. But my main point is to show that comics can be just as good of an investment as stocks.
@spiderscomics11803 жыл бұрын
to add to your comments when the market was booming in the first half of this year people tried to establish reasons why and one that was quoted was High Net Worth individuals wanting to diversify, this always made me laugh...so the share market has been on an absolute tear for over 16 months now and we think people are going to take out 1/2 million to invest in comics??? There quite simply is not enough supply for this scenario to occur - image a group of these people (let's say 10,000 HNW investors) snapping up every copy of GSX1 - there aren't that many copies to go around. Let alone the concept that I can sit back and let my fund manager run my account OR I have to store all the comics and then actively monitor the market for optimal exit time. The 'card traders moving into our hobby' is believable as is 'stimulus funds' and 'Covid boredom' but you wouldn't need many guys with a million dollar fund (and that is quite conservative for a 'war chest') to suck up all the available blue chip books. agree, comics should represent a tiny sliver of a persons personal wealth, even David knows, residential property is a lot safer and stable compared to our hobby. Buy em to read!
