I don't understand why Magneto's ability to manipulate light, and the weak-force aren't ever discussed. If he can control a magnetic field, he can control light and therefore the electroweak force. He can initiate and contain a fusion reaction, cause atomic nuclei to split or emit radioactive alpha and beta particles. He would be practically unstoppable, with far greater powers than he is shown as having.

I'm not saying it couldn't be written where his control extends so far, for example, manipulating more than so much energy at once. My point is that ALL the phenomena I listed, and more I didn't are the SAME thing. You could decide he isn't able to contol it at the unification threshold energies aka where electromagentism and the weak force recombine, but even then most of it still applies. My point was how much cooler he would be using actual science than a fictional pretext, that is super super rare! I love fiction and am regularly willing to suspend disbelief and have fun, but on this one we don't have to.

Too much power tells a poor story. A morally unblemished person that can do anything without the threat of real opposition is just not interesting for long. It's similar to the problems in telling a good Franklin Richards story. How do you tell a convincing story about a person that sees everything and can do anything. He engaged in a psychic pyramid scheme, where he got other telepaths to link up some of their psychic power and processing to his, so he could boost his powers. Because omega doesn't always mean most powerful. Charles Xavier, Apocalypse, Forge, Namor and Storm are considered the most powerful Alpha level mutants. Omega would just mean that they have potential for further mutation and/or secondary powers. Would an omega level shape shifter be more powerful than Storm?

Storm & Iceman's power, like Jean Grey's, are touched upon but not fully explained. Their capabilities are seldom really fully unleashed. You only get to see snippits across the years of comics. Because of the level of control they have to exert in battle that focuses on the enemy and does not get their allies caught in the crossfire hinders us from truly seeing just how omega they are. Their powers are so much they could alter the entire planet in a moment

I think they missed Onslaught\ Professor X, and Gambit. In the spin off comic book Gambit that came out in the late 90"s early 2000's we learn that Gambits dealings with Mr. Sinister was because Mr. Sinister took some of Gambits power. Gambit had the the power to charge inanimate and animate objects with conetic energy to make an object explode. A version of Gambit had become so powerful that he destroyed his earth and came to the earth of our beloved Cajun in order to make sure he would not do the same. Taking on the name either new son or red son, don't remember which,. So to me an over powered Gambit that can blow up a planet or person makes him an Omega powered mutant.

I am glad they retconned the Omega Level classification in House of X, making it only possible for a single person to be called Omega within their own power classification So while Jean and Quentin are both Omega telepaths, Quentin’s is Intelligence based, and Jean’s is Power based. I also like that the distinction allows for any mutant to possibly reach Omega level with their powers. Whereas the original classification would only grant it to those whose powers were energy or mentally based (with Iceman being an exception).

In 2020 Franklin tried to use the mutant teleportation gates that only work for mutants and it didnt work . It's not quite the same. In order to use the super soldier serum it's a two-part process not only do you get injected with the serum but you have to have it activated through some form of radiation. In fact a lot of people think that the mutants the X-Men or a result of the radiation from the atomic bomb and the nuclear incidents that have happened all over the world. At least in the comics that used to be part of the explanation that the atomic radiation affected the parents and calls the children to be born with powers

The list has been tweaked slightly since then (removing Franklin Richards and adding some new Krakoa mutants), but I believe Magneto is still on it. At one point in the distant past, he had a vaguely defined resistance to psychic abilities, but in keeping with what you said, I believe that’s been retconned to be associated with the helmet.

Most people wouldn't think Apocalypse is Omega level. But he is!!!! He can match up with Thor, and face the Hulk effortlessly. Plus!!? He's powered by celestial tech, that brings up too a level of a god.

I’ve been reading the comics in order starting with ‘43 and I’m more than half way through the 60s and it’s so funny to see some of these characters at their beginnings. Like Jean Grey as Marvel Girl or Wanda as Scarlet Witch in their early comics are not even close to as powerful as they are now. Like I haven’t even gotten to the point where they show jean greys or magnetos or Wanda’s past traumas they just kinda exist lol

The classic problem of power inflation in comics. My character isn’t interesting. How can I gain attention for them. I can show that they are more powerful than “Superman” [any version or substitute]. Eventually the comics are larded up with redundant and overpowered heroes who can solve any problem because they are so powerful. Now you no longer have an interesting character because you smothered them in power. And the fans…who keep chasing after the powers never learn. So the writers who keep chasing after the fans make the same mistakes over and over again.

@@psyavi6401 yes 😁 and she’s kinda like hulk in a sense too, the more angry she gets her rage makes her far more powerful, only her, Dr strange and Scarlett witch were ordained to become sorcerer or sorceress supreme, but out of all her feats it’s surprising her and Phoenix are the only ones to have merged with the higher Gods, it’s a shame they haven’t chased her witch lineage and explored her god merge more yet but Disney may be doing a flurry of series based on the xmen soon so hopefully she gets a real cool origins series that really delves into all of her history and displays her full powers to be reintroduced into the MCU now that she’s officially and omega level mutant 😁😍

He does both. He can absorb people into his mind and those personalities can become alter-egos that take over. However all the powers that Legion manifests are his own. He also creates personalities at random with random powers. One is a dinosaur with a clock in its mouth, one is the Oracle of Delphi that can answer any three questions. It is my opinion that Legion really only has two superpowers, Reality Manipulation and Time Manipulation. His reality manipulation allows him to mirror and manifest any power he wishes except time manipulation. He creates split personalities in an attempt to control his powers because they are nearly limitless. His biggest weakness is his own lack of control over his powers and his personalities. If he ever gained full control of his powers he might be the most powerful being in existence. In one story the Old Gods awakened, hundreds if not thousands of beings that were Odin level power, Odin fought Galactus to a standstill. Magik convinced David to unleash his God Mutant personality, which erased all of these old gods from reality and time instantly.

Apocalypse is an interesting mutant but not omega level. He has the mutant power to control biology in living things like High Evolutionary, but on a lesser scale. Apocalypse does not create mutants he amplifies the existing gene and unlocks more potential instantly. This means he cannot create mutants he can only amplify what is already there, and not beyond the existing potential the person already had. He can manipulate his own mutant gene to imitate other powers but is limited in what he can do with them. High Evolutionary on the other hand is an altered human that has advanced their knowledge to the absolute limit. He can manipulate genetics on a level Apocalypse could only dream of. He can evolve humans into mutants, alter the mutant gene in crazy ways and and has stood toe to toe with Galactus. The existence of High Evolutionary proves that Apocalypse's powers are not limitless and not even the best in the category.

Magneto is a lot more powerful than most characters you can think of. He's a energy manipulater, that has control(despite electromagnetism) over the fundamental forces of energy (Franklin Richards is not the only one). That should tell you everything about him. Storm is no different (not marginal) than Magneto also. She has ecological link too nature itself, and controls it as well. She can gather her power from 2 places, the earth (tap into the energy well), and the earth electromagnetic fields. Plus, she's a elemental energy manipulater that has control over kinetic, potential, chemical, friction, heat, and electromagnetism(Plasma). Plus, it was shown she can open portals too dimensions. Plus she has weather base ecological adaptability. She can control and generate storms on different planets, dimensions, and space. Has control over solar winds, generate and control air pressure(including Jovian air pressure). And become faster than the lighting she generates. Even manipulate tidal wave's and water currents. Both Magneto and Storm powers defy the laws of physics and thermodynamics. That's why they are powerful in their own unique way(Iceman fir special mention). But have to admit! Mr M has both of them beat. He has both Storm and Magneto abilities combine. Plus more!!!! Yes!! He's also a psionic manipulater too. It's just too bad his full potential was never shown.

I think it's only because his powers didn't come from an actual x-gene that is known to be the source of normal mutant abilities. His powers come from both his parents latent celestial mutate gene and the cosmic control rod. His parents were both mutates like the Hulk or Spiderman and I suppose you could even include beings like the molecule man and the sentry on that list as opposed to those born with the gene for mutation. Its just those who have the latent gene as opposed to those with an active one. All humans are supposed to have this latent gene, it's just a factor of finding the right trigger for each individual as I've heard it explained before.

Actually Rachel Somers was always an Omega. Her unlimited potential is Telepathy. Back in the day the one sure and main requirement of Omega status is being a potential vessel of the Phoenix Force as non Omegas can't contain it's Power. So, where you are right about Hope being on an Omega list Rachel Summers Omega status, being Phoenix II, was established at her origin.

In the seventies, when I was a kid, Agatha Harknesss, was in fact his grandmother, and he did get a lot of power from her, and he learned to cast spells. Nowadays, no f ing idea, they change a lot of origins. Superman, originally, couldn't fly. His super powers were because of his cellular density, not absorbing sunlight. Changing origins and powers is a comman problem in comics.
